View 3 RepliesWarning light came on and I went straight to dealer. My hybrid battery is bad after 150,000 miles. Can I drive the car with on just the gas engine? No one at the dealership seems to know.
View 2 RepliesI couldn't start my car this morning. It is a Toyota Prius 2011 model. When I turned on the start button, these lights were on, but I couldn't start the engine. There is a zzz sound when I turn it on. What went wrong?
View 13 RepliesMy check engine light came on about 4 days ago on my 2014 toyota camry. Found the gas cap was loose that same day it came on and tightened but light is still on and Eco mode not coming on. Is it possible the problem is something else or does it take longer for the light to turn off.
View 12 RepliesI ran out of gas in my 2011 Prius and immediately all warning lights came on as well as the "check hybrid system" light. After filling the gas I read similar threads on here and trouble shooted the battery. 12v Battery tested good, so now what is the next step? I also did a reset on the 12v battery and that didn't work.
View 19 RepliesWe bought our 2011 2 weeks ago today and the hybrid information screen went out. Is this happening alot and are those it is happening to experiencing any other problems? Taking it to the dealers tomorrow.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius with about 42K miles on it. Today, I went to turn it on but the Check Hybrid System light came on and the car wont turn on. I can only put it in neutral. All the other lights are on as well. I have not had any recent service but the oil change notification did come on in the last few weeks. Also the low tire pressure light turned on yesterday but I didnt get a chance to fill them up. What the issue can be? Because it has such low mileage I cant think of any major issues it would have.
View 19 RepliesI drive a 2011 Tundra 5.L 4X4 truck. why do I get better gas mileage while driving in the Rockies vs states like OK and TX? I get 2mpg better while driving in the Rockies. 17mpg vs 15mpg. I drive same speed, buy the same 87 octane gas & drive on Interstate highways. And it doesn't matter whether I'm driving to or from. Is the gas quality different in the Rockies vs the south or plains states?
View 19 RepliesFor the past 2 days, when I press the button to start my Prius after it's been in the garage all night (mid 40s-50s temp), I'll get only the seat belt light displayed - or the seat belt light then the others will slowly fade in! And sometimes the entire "Hybrid System" indicator display doesn't show up at all. And it won't start or, if it does, won't shut off.
If it does start, and I drive then park and turn it off, when I go to start it after just a few minutes, say at the grocery store, everything comes on fine.
I was going through a bad day today with my 2010 Prius Gen 3. I was on highway driving at 68MPH behind another car, at the time I step down on gas pedal for overtaking, all a sudden both "Check PCS system" and "Check Hybrid system" appears on the Console display and gas pedal had no response from the engine at all. The car was not moving and I had to stop aside and "P" the car. I tried to turn off the car, turn back on more than 10 times. Both warning signal "Check PCS system" and "Check Hybrid system" display on console and the car can not go into "ready" mode hence the car can not drive. I could put shift to "P","N" but just not "D". Had to call tow truck to tow back to toyota dealer, and they said will look into it on Monday.
View 5 RepliesBut while driving the hybrid warning light turned on in the MTD. A red car if I remember correctly. It was the hybrid battery over heating and to try and mess with the wiring going to the cooling fan in the right rear quarter panel.
View 6 RepliesI have 2011 prius 1800cc.
My car dashboard display come ORANGE TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION MARK light and message "HYBRID SYSTEM CHECK". Car has no problem in drive, every thing works but display computer (check consumption graph Charging wheel etc.) does not show.
When I press start, display button shows charging graph consumption etc, only for few seconds and go to msg check hybrid system.
My 2010 III's hybrid warning light illuminated today while I was driving, and the vehicle shut down almost immediately.
View 10 RepliesCan we check the health of the hybrid battery like you can the 12V. I encountered an issue where the hybrid battery had difficulty getting a "full" charge. It would frequently be in the three to two bar range which got my attention. I did learn that there is not a way to check the hybrid battery. I also have not encountered the problem since crossing the great divide on the way back ....
View 5 RepliesOK so this issue first started in July on way back from Florida the brakes started going to the floor. You did have normal braking power, but you had to about stand on them. Took it to mechanic who cleaned and adjusted brakes, after that they seemed to work fine. Fast forward to a month later, I was going over some train tracks with a somewhat heavy load, I braked when going over them, right after that it seemed the brakes went about half way before braking. I took it back to same mechanic who said it's now either the Master Cylinder, or ABS module. I have found so many conflicting posts on this I'm not sure which way to go. I'd really hate to spend $400 on MC, and then it turns out to be ABS. There is also a swooshing noise when you depress brake.
View 11 RepliesSuddenly I discovered a loose cable under my engine .... what kind of cable this is?
View 9 RepliesMy 2007 Saturn Vue Hybrid died on Sunday while driving down the highway. The car has 101,500 miles and a brand new (November) battery. It was -5 degrees out at the time. Different engine lights started coming on, one at a time (the check engine light, the traction control light, the oil change light, then the seatbelt light) and then all of a sudden the entire dashboard went dark and the driving lights went out (it was close to sunset so we had the lights on). My fiance barely managed to steer the car over to the shoulder before it completely died. The hazard lights wouldn't even worked. My mechanic got it jump started yesterday and was able to drive it and said no engine lights are on, and everything looks fine. He does not think it was the alternator. What this could be?
View 8 RepliesMy 2010 Prius died while driving... i had to pull over, now won't start. Says check hybrid system. What the heck should I do.
View 11 RepliesHow I can charge my hybrid battery while driving on city streets with an average speed of 35-45MPH. Once I get off the highway, the hybrid battery is almost full, only missing two "bricks" or "Bars." I will then accelerate very slowly only using the electric motor to drive the vehicle for the next couple of miles.
Once the battery has depleted to where it only has two bars, I will then accelerate a little faster to run the engine so it can charge the battery. But, I bring up the energy monitor and then watch the arrows.. making sure that arrows are coming out of then engine to drive the vehicle AND making sure that the electric motor is not supporting the engine.
I have a 10 month (15,000 mile) Prius and the " check hybrid system" warning light came on while driving on the interstate. 17 miles later the car quit running. I had it towed to the local dealer and after taking a looking at it I was told the error code pointed to the water pump (which they plan to replace). Does that make since? Has this been a problem for the Prius IV?
View 4 RepliesI've owned a 2014 Prius Four (not IV, Roman numerals were for model year 2010) w/o Nav for just about a year now. I've encounter this mysterious condition three times now where when I turn on my car, all I see on the front displays are the READY light on the far left and the mini-display that shows the shift pattern.
* Both the speedometer/fuel gauge display on the left of the shift pattern display and the "Hybrid status" display on the right of the shift postion display are OFF.
* The car operates normally (it's not in a limp-home mode).
When I first encountered this issue and reported it to my local dealer, they suggested I take a video of it with my smartphone. I did so the car (and a copy of the video) is now at the dealership.
The second and third times this issue came up, I took videos and did some additional testing.
- When these two displays are OFF, there is no backlight to the climate control LED display underneath the stereo...
- I normally drive the car with the headlamps in "AUTO" mode. When you shift the headlamp switch to "DRL off", the two missing displays automatically power on. In any other position (Auto, corner marker lamps only, or headlamps ON position) the two displays in question turn off.
- The issue isn't with me accidentally turning the dimmer switch too low. When the dimmer switch is set to max low and the dash light sensor is covered (emulating complete darkness outside), all three displays on the dash (including the shift position display) are barely visible/look off. As the service advisor saw in my video, that's not the case.
This is clearly a safety issue ("you cannot tell how fast you are going" and "you cannot tell easily how much gas you have left without going through the infotainment display) so for now the dealership at least seems to be on my side in that something needs to be repaired. The good news is that now that the issue has been documented in my service history, they did comment that it will get fixed eventually even if the issue comes back after test. For now, the dealership is stumped so they asked Toyota for guidance on what parts to try replacing.
