Toyota :: Can Misalignment Cause Flat Tires?

Dec 4, 2011

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but can tire misalignment cause flat tires? I ask because earlier tonight my drivers side tire went flat as I was taking off from a red light. The tire doesn't look damaged from the outside. I put the spare on, which looked practically new since I had never used it, but within three miles the spare went flat.

When I got my tires rotated a few weeks ago I noticed a slight pull to the right, but after a day or two I stopped noticing it. I'm not sure if I just got used to it, or if it was just me not being used to the new tires.

I am having the tire patched tomorrow, but The thought that the misalignment might be causing this has just stuck itself in my head and won't go away.

Lexus SC430 :: Tires Went Flat When Car Parked In Garage

Several months ago one of my 20" toyo tires was flat when I came out of work. Being a high school teacher, I thought that perhaps it was a students involved situation. That came as a surprise in that as a teacher of over 37 years, nothing has ever happened to any of my vehicles, while parked at school. Also I found it strange that they would let air out and put the chrome valve cap back on. Well, over the weekend, the same thing happened, with the car parked in my garage. So in both instances the tires went flat, I filled them back up and they held air. This happened months apart.

Golf VI R :: Flat Tire Warning - Pressure On All 4 Tires At Exactly 40 PSI

I just got 4 new tires installed, running 235-40/18 setup (stock wheels.) On the drive home, the flat tire warning sign came on. I've tried to used the SET button in the glove compartment to deactivate it. That did not work (it flashed one time then stay on).

I check the pressure on all 4 tires and they're all at exactly 40PSI. What the problem could be and how to turn this pos off without going to the dealership?

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: 2013 - Tires Went Flat After Service

I recently had my 2013 Lexus RX 350 15,000 mile service which included tire rotation and balance. The service was performed at the dealership where I bought the car. Less than two weeks later, both tires on the left side went COMPLETELY flat. The front tire so flat that it was actually coming off the rim when I stopped the car because it was driving funny. The distance was out of my garage and down the driveway. The serviceman initially said it was a slit on the outer edge of the tire. Now they are saying it was a pinhole in both tires. Is it possible something could have gone wrong during the servicing to cause the tires on my brand new car to go flat?

Civic - Honda :: 2012 - Tires Go Flat / Pop And Shred While Driving

I've read from quite a few places online that other 2012 Honda Civic owners were having tires go flat, pop and shred while driving (Granted that this is probably the most common car issue that any one faces). The Honda is my wife's car and is less then a year old. I change her flat and checked the other tires ALL of which were dangerously low on air. Seems strange that so many of the same vehicles with low mileage are reporting having the same issues. (Firestone Affinity Tires)...

Subaru - Legacy - Suspension :: 2003 - Tires Thumping (as If Flat) During Slow And Tight Turns

We have a 2003 Subaru Legacy named Penny. Lately she's been "thumping" when we make slow tight turns -- usually when pulling into or out of a parking spot. This is less of a noise, more of a sensation. Thumping and bumping as if the front tires are flat, but that's not the case. To complicate matters, it doesn't seem to happen first thing in the morning. Starts showing up after a drive of 30 - 40 minutes and continues to get worse the longer we drive throughout the day. Driving straight is fine, less sharp turns also fine. Mechanic guessed axle and replaced both front axles last week. But the problem persists. We are independent musicians, traveling often, and NEED this car to drive reliably!

Toyota - Avalon :: Small Pop - Noise From The Wheels Almost Like A Flat Tire

I got in my car Toyota Avalon 97 and I heard a small pop like I ran over a pop can. Then as i began driving I hear a noise that sounds like it is coming from the wheels. It seem like ever time it make a full rotation I hear a flap. Almost like a flat tire.

Golf/GTI VI :: Steering Wheel Misalignment

The steering wheel of my new 2010 GTI rests about 5-10 degrees left of center when traveling in a straight line on the level surface with properly inflated tires. When requested to investigate this matter, Pignataro Volkswagen of Everett, Washington responded that their mechanic was unable to see any misalignment of the steering wheel during his test-drive and that any post-delivery wheel alignment issues are not covered under the 3yr/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

This may seem like a very minor issue, but I don't think it's too much to ask that a brand-new automobile have a steering wheel that is indexed in a properly centered position when traveling in a straight line on a level road without any "crown" to its surface.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Steering Column / Cluster Misalignment

My brand new 2016 F-250 Super Duty has a misalignment running down the steering column. Looking just over the top of the airbag cover, the shroud that protects the gear shift and upper steering components is depressed on one side... and further back, the shroud for the cluster is depressed a different direction. Certainly nothing earth shattering, but it annoys me every time I see it.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - While Sitting On Flat Surface Error Come To Park On Flat Surface

I have a 2008 toyora prius with 75423mi on it, was purchased with 70000mi two or three months ago. I have had no problems with this vehicle until recently. Being a prius newbie, I decided to ask here. When sitting parked on a slight slope earlier with the car running, radio running, and phone plugged in for an extended amount of time, I received an error on my display stating smething along the lines of "there is an abnormality with the p transmission mechanism, please part the car on a flat surface and engage the parking break completely" paired with a red triangle on the dash. I immediately moved the car to flat ground and engaged the parking break. The car turns one, shifts fine, and acts just as normal as prior. Is there anything I should be worried about? The car is still under toyota warrenty and is due an oil change now. Any clue what the cause of this was and if it will be reoccuring?

Toyota - Avalon :: Tires With Different Wear Levels On Same Car?

So, my FWD car has 3 tires that are getting close to replacement tread depth, and one that is only about half worn--it had to be replaced partway thru due to unrepairable damage. The question is whether this amount of difference in tread--maybe 1/8 inch--matters. I could buy 3 and save money or buy 4 and put one away for a good reserve tire. (The spare is different).

Toyota - Highlander :: Goodyear Fortera TRIPLE Tred Tires Are The Best

The original equipment (OEM) tires on the Highlander are just as cheap/bad as other OEM vehicle tires. I had Michelin Cross Terrains installed on my previous Highlanders. They were great! My current Highlander has Goodyear Fortera TRIPLE Tred tires.

These are the BEST tires that I've ever owned. Quiet, very responsive, and have preformed great in rain and snow. They're also a 60K mile tire. Expensive, but well worth the money.

Toyota - Camry :: 2003 - Tires Seem To Skid When Hit The Brakes Hard

I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry. For the last six months or so I feel a skid on one of my tires when I hit the brakes a little harder than usual. It seems the problem occurs after the car has been driving for a while. I took the car by my repair shop the last 4 or 5 times it happened and they assure me that the treads of the tires and the brake padding are fine and cant explain what it is I am seeing. They think everything is fine.

the symptoms are that I drive for a bit and then when I hit the brakes the car seems to skid a little before coming to a full stop. Its kind of what happens when you drive a car with balding tyres.

This is driving me crazy. The car has only had about 70 miles on it and I have had to rebuild the engine one time so I am reluctant to get rid of it too soon. I know there is a problem but for the life of me I cant figure out what it is,

Toyota - Tires - Corolla - Wheels :: 2005 - Front End Shakes And Wobbles

The car is a manual transmission 2005 Toyota Corolla with around 90,000 miles. I'm not the only owner. The car was bought used. It appears that the car was in a front end accident that doesn't appear in a carfax report. This can be identified by the poor clearcoat paint job on the hood flaking off and the absence of the air conditioner, as well as some rather pathetic body, work with noticeable bends and a few missing screws. Most of which I consider cosmetic and irrelivant to the car's operations.

The tires are bald and the car has had an alignment about 2 years ago after I replaced the struts. I wasn't notified of any bad ball joints, but that doesn't mean thats out of the question. The car has a bit of a shake at high speeds. Sometimes the shaking is violent enough to reduce speed. I noticed that more often the shake is really bad above 60 and quite scary above 70. This isn't always the case. Sometimes the shake isn't as noticable by comparison.

At low speeds the car seems to have a wobble or repeatative hop. The steering wheel has a rythmic pattern moving back and forth a few degrees. Enough to make holding a full cup or soda not a safe choice unless the desire is to wear the drink. The wobble appears to be a little worse when the car is cold. Winter mornings seem to bring out the worst in the wobble.

I would like to do as much work on my own as possible to save $, but I realize I may need professional service equipment to diagnose some of this. Can car tires be diagnosed for having bulges with some sort of test aside from visual inspection alone? Is there a tool that can be used to verify the metal of the wheel is true and not the source of the wobble? Do wobbles and shakes derive from bad tie rods and/or ball joints? What is the most common problem that produces symptoms similar to mine?

I enjoy the car's money saving potential, but it lacks an air conditioner which is vital for defrost operations and keeping the insane summer heat tolerable. If the repairs will cost me more than the car is worth I may choose to invest that money into a 2005 model as a replacement since I've grown tired of the lack of radio and no air conditioner. I'm trying to keep 5ish years behind the curve as not to waste money on the politics of new car value depreciation.

Toyota - Wheels - Echo :: Car Shakes At High Speed / Tires Are Balanced

Ok,I have brought my car (2005 Toyota Echo) into the shop three times and they can't figure it out. I have summer and winter tires. Last summer the summer tires were fine, the winter tires were fine, then I changed the front tires, and couldn't remove the back tires (I hit them with a hammer and 2x4 and they didn't come off). From that point on my car has vibrated at around 60mph, but not 100% of the time.

I took the car in to the mechanic, they changed the back tire for me and balanced the front...still vibrates, they then balanced the back...still vibrates. Now they say the disk rotor is bent, and want to fix that but aren't sure that will fix the problem. What's going on, I changed the front tires and now the car vibrates at high speed most of the time, but not all the time.

Toyota - Camry :: Tire Bearing Sound After Putting Winter Tires On

Current Situation: I got my winter tires put on last week. I use the same rims for both sets of tires.

Problem: Driving out of the repair shop I noticed a sound coming from the front right of my vehicle which wasn't there before. I kept it off the road and made an appointment. They saw it today and said the right front wheel bearing is shot.

History: I got both axles replaced last year due to super worn out CV boots.

Possible complications: The first shop I went to (Auto Express in Amherst MA) did a crap job, and the clip holding the axles in place came off while driving. I didn't trust them at this point, so I had it towed to XYZ to get it put back on. No problems since.

Question: How likely is it that the mechanic at XYZ did something to cause the bearing to wear out suddenly? The noise started immediately after the tire change and was clear and noticeable. It was not there before.

Car: Toyota Camry with 147k miles on it.
