I have a 1997 Camry that has developed a leak somewhere. When it rains the floorboard on the passenger side is soaked, and it has spread to the back seat now. We have tried to recreate the problem with a hose and had no luck. Where can the water be coming in ? Not the front windows or sunroof as far as I can tell.

View 5 RepliesI've had a few problems lately with water leaking into the vehicle. The second row passenger side seatbelt is getting soaked, and water can be seen dripping out of the small slot in the wall panel that the seatbelt comes out of. Of course, it all makes its way down to the floor, which gets soaked.
Luckily, I've got third row seating, so the second row passenger side seat flips up and I can get access to the floor and soak up the water with towels.
The leaking only seems to occur when the vehicle is parked with the front pointing uphill (even on very minor grades). I've tried, unsuccessfully, to replicate the problem with a hose, but I only have a level area to test in, and don't have any service ramps to get the front elevated.
From reading various posts on here, and elsewhere, it seems that there are a few possibilities:
- The "dam" that surrounds the sunroof to collect water and send it to the drains is overflowing and water is getting into the wall of the vehicle.
- The sun roof drains are plugged, which may be contributing to the dam overflowing
- The sun roof drain tube has become disconnected inside the roof or wall
Can the rear drain tubes are routed down the "B" or "C" pillar? Depending where they go, I may be able to eliminate a disconnected tube as the problem. I've also read that there was a service bulletin related to increasing the height of the dam, but haven't determined yet if it applies to my vehicle.
It happened twice since June when we (central NJ) have had really heavy rains. My front passenger side carpet becomes absolutely soaked, but everything else stays completely dry. Do you think the rubber trim has failed? A regular wash is fine, nothing gets in from that. My car is a 2006 B6 with about 97k on it. It's weird.

I also believe I may have leaky seals on my left rear window.

Noticed today that the carpet UNDER the front passenger seat is soaked. The front and rear passenger floorboard carpet is dry. Just the carpet DIRECTLY under the seat.
Nothing spilled, seat dry.
I have a 2000 ford focus. I noticed today that my passenger side floor was soaking wet with brown liquid. The liquid is watery in consistency, not slimy at all, and it has no smell. I also noticed the other day that my side windows were fogging up with the use of the defroster. I'm looking for some hope that this does not automatically mean replacing my heating core. Could it possibly be anything else? One more thing, when I notched this water today I was a 3 hour drive from home and was able to drive it home without it overheating.

View 4 RepliesJust sopped up about a quart of water on the pass side floor. the wiring harness channel (along the door on the floor) was full as was the corner where the fuse box is along with the whole jutting up to the seat!
Was thinking I has a windshield leak, tested out fine. I have alot of AC water draining under the truck, thought that ws O.K. too. Then did an experiment after dryin the floor and juting.
peeled it all back and ran the AC for 20 minutes till I had a good puddle on the ground, and sure enough the "joint" lowest and closest to the tranny tunnel was dripping. Thinking the box is full of water now. Where is the actual drain hole for the AC? can't find it under the "heat shield" crap under the truck.
I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4X4 Limited edition with a sunroof. Last year, after a hard rain, I went out to my car to find about 3 inches of water in the passenger side floorboard. I immediately took it to the Jeep Dealer, who told me that the sunroof was simply clogged with debris. They cleared out the channels and all the debris and said I would be good to go. Not so much. It's a year later and after checking the heating coils, weather stripping, windshield, windows, etc, etc... It STILL FLOODS! The water comes ONLY through the screw that holds the sun visor in the roof. The roof of the car never gets wet. I have taken it to several body shops other that then Jeep dealer and no one has any clue. I now keep microfiber towels and a shop vac in my car at all times. I'm worried about the damage this will do to my car eventually, particularly in terms of the electrical parts of the car.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1996 Buick Le Sabre. There is a bad water leak onto the passenger side back floorboard. I have taken it to the dealer and two repair shops. They are stumped. A hard Florida rain can get 2 inches of water on the floor. Tried re-gluing the rubber seal. That did not work.
View 5 RepliesI have a 99 F-250 Super Duty 4WD and here lately when it rains a lot I have a lot of water getting in on the passenger side floorboard coming from somewhere under the right front under the dash. I have looked under the cowling and don't think it is from there. I heard of someone having water funnel in from the 3rd brake light gasket and I did replace that because it had some leakage but after last nights heavy rain it has soaked my carpet again. Once i dried it I drove it and lots of water came from somewhere and completely soaked a bath towel. It may be from the heater blower area and filling up the box under the dash till it runs out???

View 4 RepliesI bought my wife a 1999 F250 SD a few weeks ago and we both are loving it, but a few days ago she noticed water in the passenger side floorboard. We've been having a ton of rain lately, so much that I think I saw a big boat with a bunch of animals floating in my backyard yesterday. Seriously though, normally I'd assume that the heater core was leaking, but this was just water, no antifreeze. Obviously the water is from a leak somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me. I sat in the truck in a pouring rain and didn't find a leak anywhere. The carpet is wettest around the area where the door sill trim meets the kick panel, however she said she had seen a few drops of water standing on the top of the floor mat.

Whenever she and I make a turn in it, a clunking sound is heard and felt on the front passenger side in the area of the floorboard, and it seems to come from an area between the seat and the wheel well and seems to be getting slowly but surely/progressively worse/more noticeable as time passes. I checked underneath the car earlier today, and there aren't any observable leaks to report anywhere.
View 4 RepliesHave a 05 Explorer and every time it rains, water gets in and soaks the front passenger side floor. It only happens after it rains and happens even if it is not driven. I am pretty sure there is a drain line plugged up someplace from the cowl, just not sure where it is. The toe kick seems to stay dry but the floor gets soaked.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2000 Toyota Camry LE with 106K miles. It?s getting a little clunky but works perfectly. I do regular maintenance like oil changes every 3 or 4 months, breaks, tires. Last year one day during very have down pour rain I noticed something banging/hitting under the seats while driving in this heavy rain & car losing power (slowing down). Something (I am guessing the exhaust pipe? hitting the body. The more gas I gave to gain speed the violent the banging. I slowed down to almost 15MPH but never stop & the car started to work normal. It happened 3 or 4 times before I got home. I check all fluids etc? All normal. Drove later in sunny, cloudy & even in light rain the car runs perfectly fine. Then it happened again in heavy rain.
I told my car mechanic & he checked all even tightened the main belts (not timing belt). No change. Now it?s so predictable when ever its rains heavy & even slushy snow/rain. Lately it started to not only lose power but sometime instead of banging I hear grinding noise when pressing the gas paddle. Some time banging followed by grinding but every time after slowing down the car recoups power and I drive normally. It never ever happens in dry day. My wife who drives ?Buick Century 2004? thinks my car is dyeing and should buy a new. When I describe this situation to any mechanic they points to transmission & want to perform brain surgery to diagnose.
Every time it rains the carpet is very wet by the left drivers foot. I have cleaned out the drain behind the front wheel and used a heavy gauge plastic mono line to clean out the drain for the moon roof. Unfortunately it still becomes wet. My next area to check is the drain from the area at the bottom of the windshield. How that can be done? 2000 Camry XL....
View 5 RepliesMy 1999 Camry 4-cyc started to leak oil about 3 weeks ago. Puddles of oil on garage floor. The valve cover gasket was replaced last week but I still see new oil on garage floor. The corners of the oil pan on the passenger side were wet with oil. Has any Camry owner experienced replacing the oil pan gasket to fix oil leak? I assume it will be at least $500 for a garage to drop the oil pan to replace the pan gasket. Is it a sealant used to form a gasket or is it a solid piece of gasket?
