2014 Avalon Limited, once in a while (mainly when taking off) I get a hesitation nearly to the point of stalling, then it picks up and runs normal. When I mentioned it to service advisor they said it was bought on by the AC fans kicking in. Now that the colder weather is starting and I'm not using the AC I've noticed it hasn't made any difference. Other than that, I love the car.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2014 Toyota Avalon limited and noticed that when you're parked you can notice a sound like water swishing around when your AC is on? This happens intermittently and I was wondering if it was normal but with the radio off in the car just idling after driving and the air condition on it makes this weird water swishing sound.
View 10 RepliesMy 2014 Avalon XLE connects to my iPhone 6 Plus for music and phone - nothing else. I am with ATT. Is there an update coming from Apple or ATT, or is there something I need to do to make the connection work? It's hard to believe that Toyota would not be compatible with the iPhone.
View 8 Replies'88 K1500 350 with the Holley 670cfm TBI. Last year this truck started intermittently running rich to the point of stalling while at idle. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor and it ran fine, for a while. After a few months the same issue returned during cold weather but seemed to resolve this spring when things turned warm. Now the engine is really running rich all the time. I checked the CTS and got 2400 Ohms cold and 270 Ohms hot which isn't far form what I found as to be in spec. If I disconnect the CTS the truck runs better (idles up some) and does not appear to be running as rich but still not right. There are no codes in the computer and the O2 sensor was also replaced not that long ago.
View 5 RepliesA little background. I was changing the oil and oil filter and noticed that the battery post was corroded. Disconnected the battery and cleaned the post. After that, I have noticed that most of the time, whether hot or cold, the engine cranks normally, quickly looses rpm to the point of almost stalling then recovers and runs fine after that. No check engine lights on at all. I have since removed the battery connections and waited about 5 minutes and reconnected them, turned on the ac, lights, anything that would put a load on the engine and cranked it hoping that it was just a computer problem. Nope, same issue. Truck runs fine otherwise, just the start up issue. Engine is gas powered 5.4 liter V-8.

If I drive the truck for only a few minutes and turn it off I have a hard time getting it started again. It sounds like it wants to start but just barely can't.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 Limited and when I start there's a slight hesitation then the power comes on. Also, when I let off the gas and the car slow's to about 20 and below there's a little "reverse surge." The power starting out and decel'ing isn't linear. It's got a little hiccup.
View 1 RepliesWhen backing out of the garage, it started with a slipping or tires feeling like they were grabbing the concrete. Then came hesitation and/or jumping at traffic lights. This seemed to improve but then a whoop, whoop helicopter noise which seemed to get louder during acceleration. The repair shop has diagnosed it "internal transmission problem". Is this common? Any estimate on cost to repair?
The transmission did seem to make a noise and possibly slip when going over speed bumps. This appeared to be addressed under warranty. Current mileage is about 130k.
I have a 2001 Elantra with 126k miles. For months it's been randomly hesitating, meaning I'll be riding along and suddenly the gas pedal will do nothing...then about 3 seconds later, VROOOM, the gas pedal will start working again. Recently, it's started stalling as well.
I've already replaced the MAP sensor, input speed sensor, throttle position sensor, spark plugs, wires, and coil pack. Nothing has worked, but it is getting progressively worse (it stalls more frequently, and the gas pedal becomes suddenly unresponsive more often).
05 Nissan Altima CVT 91k was running great until last week, it stalled while sitting at a traffic light, restarted the engine and ran fine but check engine sign lit up. Today at 60-70 mph engine hesitated once but was noticable, and took 3 cranks to get it to start after re-fuelling. Plugs were replaced at 55k, air filter is clean and was new 4 months ago anyway. Autozone read P0335 and P0725 something about a crankshaft and engine timing sensors?
View 1 RepliesHere is this wonderful 5.4 's issue now, sometimes it will idle rough, sometimes it wont. sometimes it feels like it wants to stall, other times not. if im driving about 30mph up a hill around 1700 rpm, the engine feels like a bucking horse, it will kinda want to produce the power, but cant seem to find it till the trans drops to a lower gear. With this engine power loss is unacceptable because it came out of the factory with no power, i cant afford to loose more.
there is no check engine light. its been doing this on and off for a week. i dont drive it much, may 15 miles a day. i thought maybe it was bad gas , i had it sitting for a month, but since then ran almost 2 tanks of gas through it. Seems to act the worst when driving it, then letting it idle for 5 mins, then drive it again, that's when its very noticeable. no smoke from exhaust, no mixing of oil and anti freeze, plugs are a year old, filter is new.
I just purchased a 2014 Avalon Limited on March 28, 2015. It is brand new and after driving it a couple of times I noticed some oil on the garage floor. Took it to the dealer and they confirmed seeing oil, cleaned all residue and added "dye" to engine oil and let engine run for 30+ minutes and then inspected for leak. They didn't find any leak or seepage and told me to drive it and monitor. I took it home and parked it and sure enough there are several drops by the next morning. The car has 320 miles. I don't want them to tear apart the motor to replace a gasket or seal and reassemble. What can I do? This was obviously an initial defect.

View 1 RepliesI have a 07 toyota avalon that will not start. About a week ago my wife goes to start the car and nothing. She got a jump and it worked fine for a couple of days. Then she was driving on Oct 25th and the car died out, so due to the battery being less than 6 months old the next step was the alternator. Had the alternator tested and it had to be replaced. We replaced it and it still will not turn on.

View 13 RepliesI recently bought a 2005 Toyota Avalon Xls with 90k miles on it. The car has been averaging a very disappointing mpg of 11-12 in the city and around 17 on the highway. (much lower than the advertised 22/30 mpg)
At first i thought the mpg gauge could be malfunctioning, so i calculated it myself and ended up with same result: 11 mpg in the city. I haven't taken it to a mechanic yet, but plan on doing so ASAP. What could be causing this issue.
This started pretty recently and i am hoping is won't cost too much to fix. If I drive the car for about 10 - 20 minutes it doesn't have a problem but past that it will start to shake during acceleration. I took the car to fire stone and was told that the axles and struts had gone bad and have replaced the axles. The problem is still there and i don't want to put too much money into the car if I might have to do some major repairs. The car has nearly 170,000 miles to date.
View 15 RepliesHave 2014 XC-90 w/10k miles. Problem is sporadic (has happened approx 10-15 times over past year).
From standing stop (stop light, etc) -- press on accelerator and VERY LITTLE to no acceleration. Engine continues to run smoothly -- no indication of fuel starvation, no roughness --- just no acceleration. It does NOT appear to be transmission oriented because when it finally "kicks in" there is no feeling of transmission shifting or wild tach movement (to indicate that there was a changing of the gears, etc). I get things back to "normal" by pumping the accelerator (usually a reflex action because the are vehicles behind me wanting to "go"). VERY disconcerting issue.
Local Volvo dealer says "cannot find any error messages", etc. My only complaint with the car -- second XC-90 and 5th Volvo.
Just purchased a 2014 Yukon XL it is has a bit of hesitation upon acceleration. Did not think much about initially but it is a bit bothersome. I have an 02 Suburban and never had that issue. I did also notice the same issue when test driving a 2014 Suburban.
View 1 RepliesWith Eco off my sport has a nice bog/hesitation when accelerating. Doesn't matter if ac is on or not. I'm also using shell from the same station I've always used for years. The 2.0 is still pretty new. My cruze turbo had the same kind of issue and turned out to be the spark plug gap was too small from the factory.
View 1 RepliesI have a question, what happens is when I'm driving along at lower speeds and slow down, perhaps at a stop sign, when I go to accelerate again, to cross the intersection for example, the car "chokes" or seems to be almost stalling. Once I have obtained a steady speed again the problem disappears.
