I recently have purchased a 2001 Lincoln town car executive edition. I'm having some issues with the brake lights. My running lights blinks and everything work perfect but when I press the brake nothing will light up I've checked all the fuses in the manual and all bulbs seem to be fine.

View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a 2002 Lincoln Town Car with 204,000 miles but it runs like a champ. The Problem Is It burns too much gas i filled the tank up and2 days later I'm at a 1/4 tank without driving very much. My fuel economy states that i'm getting 8.5 miles a gallon this number goes up and down. I changed the oil and air filter still having the same problem. I need to know what I can Do to fix this I have heard the plugs and possibly the coils but I would like to know if there is more or perhaps something else I will be doing the work mostly myself.

View 5 RepliesOk I have a friend with this car and said it kept over heating. I went and looked at it and found the source of the leak. It's right after the heater core. The hose comes out and into the engine. Where the hose slides onto the engine has a leak . It looks like the piece can unscrew and be replaced but I don't know what it's called.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1997 Lincoln towncar with the air suspension. After parked for overnight I found the car sagging in the rear so I thought a air bag went out so I thought I would take it in to get fixed but the next few nights nothing happen the car stayed level then the next night it went down then the next few nights it stays level.
I took it to the dealer and they told me they see nothing wrong and kept it over night and it did not go down. It is like a roll of the dice if it stays level or goes down. I sprayed the air bags and the lines to them with soap water to see if I could find any leaks but I did not see anything.
The compressor is buried so unless I know that is the problem I am not going to rip everything apart to not find a leak or is that where I should be starting. If the car is running everything stays level and no light is on. I do not want coils in the car I like the air suspension.
I replaced the Air shocks with regular springs from a conversion kit I purchased on EBAY. The instructions to disable the "Check Air Suspension" light were included in the kit. I followed these instructions without success. I disconnected pin #11 from the wire harness under the dash, behind the glove box. I then telephones the company and was told to cut the black wire to the air compressor under the hood - below the air filter canister. How do I TURN OFF THIS LIGHT? I own a 1997 Lincoln Town Car signature.

View 1 Replies1996 lincoln towncar wont start intermittently. Started doing this yesterday, was troubleshooting and my friend jumped the starter to check it and he said it was good. I messed with a few fuses wires and it started up fine. Drove today with no problem, parked and it won't start again... same as yesterday... turn key and all u get is a clicking sound from the inside sounds like under the glovebox in the dash...
View 12 Replies2001 Dakota: With the Ignition "ON" (engine running or not)any lights that are ON blink off and on. if the Ignition switch is in the "OFF" or "accessories" positions they work normally. It can be just the dome lights, the Park lights or all of the lights. It some times takes 10 to 15 minutes for this to begin, but once it starts, it is continuous. I have checked the switches, the relays, and every connection I can find. I unplugged the connector from the dash to the chassis and it stopped. I ASSume that means it is probably not the "Central Timing Module," otherwise the problem would continue. I don't know what could be in that circuit that would overload the system only with the Ignition ON.
View 3 RepliesRecently I failed my inspection on my 99 Passat due to a blinking brake light. I was told by VW service department that this was caused by a bad ABS unit. Now I can't pass inspection without proving that my brakes are fine but the ABS module is causing the blinking parking light.
View 1 RepliesI thought I noticed this a few days back but figured it was my imagination... However, I confirmed it tonight... When coming home and going down my rather steep driveway, I noticed the third brake light blinking. It actually seemed rather consistent... I backed up the driveway, went back out for a minute and didn't notice anything, but then noticed it once again when going down our hill.
First and foremost, would this be covered under the say bumper-to-bumper warranty? I'm assuming it's a fault in the brake light switch. It seems to not be quite as bad the harder I brake.
Second, I seem to recall some kinds of brake switch issues... I know I've also had some TCS light issues (TCS OFF lit just today) but I always figured it was from my rather aggressive driving habits. Could this be related to a faulty switch?
When I look back into the rear view the top brake light isn't a solid light, it keeps blinking but sometimes it won't blink and just have a solid light. Also, my friend pointed out to me that both of my reverse lights arenot even coming on. I suspect a loose wire somewhere. Where should I look? Or something else?
View 5 RepliesI bought a 2005 RX330 a couple months ago. It now has 48,500 miles. The following happened 3 times while driving:
The ABS, Brake, and VSC lights come on solid and the Low Tire Pressure light blinks. Things go back to normal after I turn the engine off and start it again.
Dealer wants to see it first before they do anything about it. Problem is that every time it happened the dealer was closed. I live about an hour away and I’m not even sure I want to drive for one hour while these lights are on.
Reading some postings it seems like this was a known issue with the 2004 models (brake light switch). Same problem with a 2005 model?
My SO has a Hyundai Santa Fe - 03 2.4L with the 4 speed auto with 130500 miles.
While driving tonight, the interior lights started blinking. Which was kind of odd. Apparently when this happens, the tail lights (but not headlights) go out.
I did a quick bit of research on it and apparently there is a "bus" that goes bad and causes this. What is a "bus"? And how do I replace it? Is it something like a fuse that is getting corroded?
Also ... I think there may be something up with the a/c. When I turn on the A/C or defroster (any setting that activates the compressor), I smell a burning rubber smell in the dash. I'm not seeing the belt slip on the compressor and not hearing any slippage but there is a definite burning rubber smell. When the HVAC is on something that does not activate the AC Compressor (top vent) we do not get the smell.
Lastly, there are some transmission issues it seems. There is a shift flare between the 2-3 shift and the 3-OD shift sometimes is very firm/abrupt ... it appears to be locking the torque converter during a very hard shift.
2006 F250 Diesel 125000. Got truck back from dealer pulling out noticed blinkers blinking fast. Figure classic burnt bulb. But upon further inspection no tail lights when headlights on. Ooh and a driver side mirror with blinker that has a crack over the lower light which is side the marker/running light, the light does work. After I Google the issue and see that the MFS is a big culprit I replaced it and have same issue. What I do have working and when:
Brake lights work when headlights off - no key in ignition
Brake lights work when headlights on with blinker on - no key in ignition
Brake lights do not work with headlights on - koeo, koer
Blinkers (rear) when selected both blink
Ignition switch?
I have a 2002 Prius with about 150,000 miles on it. A couple weeks ago, I noticed that the parking brake light on my instrument cluster didn't light up when I engaged it. Soon, all 10 bars on the fuel gauge started blinking. The seat belt reminder, open door warning, and headlight indicator lights aren't working, either. Any clues as to what could be causing all these malfunctions, or have I had more than one problem develop in close succession?

View 4 RepliesMy 1997 Town Car has had the sound from the dash related to the blend door actuator in other posts. Noise would last for 5 - 10 minutes and go away. Today I noticed when driving I was getting a wild fluctuation in heat when set to automatic on the climate control so I decided to run the diagnostic to verify the blend door problem. I got code 024 so I know it is the actuator. My problem since I ran the diagnostic(exited by pushing defrost) the actuator noise is now constant and I have no heat, only cool air is blowing. Is there a reset I can do for the actuator? It's as if it is stuck in test mode.
View 8 RepliesI found out last night that all 3 of my brake lights are out. However, my tail lights work, and my turn-signals work. So obviously its not a big wiring deal. I was looking for the brake switch but i don't know where its at because i looked underneath. What fuse is the brake lights cause my manual doesn't have it listed. I drive a 04 Elantra GLS.
