I just bought new DS1 8k bulbs to replace my aging 6k bulbs. It was a sinch to install and seemed too good to be true. Well i turn my car on and the check bulbs light came on and low and behold the lights do not turn on. The dealership said it would not matter whether I had 6k before and bought 8k but it seems like this might be the issue.
View 4 RepliesI cannot turn off the Xenon head lights in my early 04. I have the DRL option on. If you open the door, turn the key on for the radio, just want to jump start another car, etc. - always on.
View 7 RepliesI recently changed out my headlight bulbs and now the headlights are slightly out of alignment. I know that the Xenon-equipped Tregs have self-leveling headlights, but mine is the non-Xenon model.
How do I go about aligning the headlights? I did a search and found a thread in the Passat forum, referring to "2 white screws", but don't recall seeing anything similar under my hood.
I had a bulb go out and was replaced under warranty. The problem no is that it is a yellow color and not blue/white like the original and the other. The dealer said that after burn in it will also change to the blue/white.

I know the type of lamp to be used: D1S 12V35W.
I looking for a exploded view/instructions how to extract the front lamp units in order to replace the bulbs.
So those of you with bi-xenons know what i mean, when you start up your car it does that leveling sequence.
My car: 10 GOLF TDI 6MT
I put key in, turn it half way to everything comes on, clutch in cause its always parked in gear w/ hand brake on
so clutch in, I turn the key car starts up, as soon as i drop the hand brake lights come on, and they used to do:
LIGHT UP
Level Down
then would go out in opposite directions
then Level back UP to normal position.
Well today i noticed and just confirmed again when moving car after a wash, that my lights now:
Light UP,
Level Down
Level back UP,
it now skips above middle step
Why's that?
Pulling in to the underground car park at work this morning I noticed that my nearside Xenon has gone from a nice bright white colour, to a dirty pink. The offside is still shining brightly - does this mean the bulb is on it's way out, and if so how much is that going to cost!?!? The car will be 4 years old in October - does this seem a little premature - if it's not a failing bulb could it be something more sinister.
View 16 RepliesI changed the bulbs in my fog lights as the older ones were very dim. Went to fire them up and nothing. tracked down the fuse under the steering wheel (43 I believe) and it was blown. replaced the fuse, still no fog lights. Checked new fuse, and it is fine. changed it with a different one (you never know) and still no fog lights. Is there a separate fuse/relay somewhere else that I may be missing?
View 6 RepliesI just lowered my car with H&R springs and I did the flash to pass vagcom change. When the car is still and I turn on the high beams or flash it, everything is fine. Is when I start moving, and then put the highbeams or flash it when the xenons starts flickering mimicking a strobe light and is giving me an error message on the display, right or left beam dipped error.

Do all HID low beam headlights have Xenon in them? Can you buy an HID bulb with no Xenon? Does it matter for my car? I read in some places HID and Xenon go together then I read elsewhere you can buy HID bulbs with no Xenon?
The left Xenon lamp does not ignite. I change the lamp and it doesn't work. What is wrong??, the ballast??? In that case, what is the part number, or tell me where to find it The technician says that the module broken is the AFS Module. I think he is wrong. The faulty message in the car is "Luz de cruce del. izq. averiada" in somehow in English "Low beam left malfunction"...

View 3 RepliesMy bi-xenons are too low as delivered and I need to move them up. I've spent several hours reading through the numerous posts here regarding this, but they seem to be split as to whether this should be done manually with the screws under the hood, or electronically with the VAG-COM.
I have a VAG-COM, and where to find a setting for this given that the 55 module isn't active on the Touareg. I messed with the screws, and while that did raise the headlights, I'm afraid I might be compromising the auto-leveling feature of the xenons...
I've searched many threads looking for a successful conversion of someone buying the OEM assembly including balasts and bulbs, housing, but nothing really shows if it's possible. I've only heard noise that either you can do it by buying silly aftermarket kits, etc. I've done the OEM change in my MKIV GTI before, but the T-reg is different and not sure it's plug and play. I found the complete assembly online with HID lamps 1st vw parts. They price each side at around $390 each. BUT my question is will they plug in and work? I have the VAG-COM so programming the car is not a problem. I've heard that I'd need a controller, but not sure if that's the case or not.
