Touareg :: Won't Start - All Electric Shutdown?

Dec 28, 2007

After parking my car last night, this morning the key wouldn't work. So I manually opened the car door, and try to start the car. Nothing came on, even the clock. And now the key is stuck in the ignition.

It cant be the battery, because I think it should at least have enough juice to turn the light on.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Small Electric Pump Noise Coming From Under The Hood On Shutdown

I have a '12 F250 w/ 6.7 diesel. Lately when I turn off the ignition after a few seconds I hear a noise that sounds like a small electric pump coming from under the hood on the passenger side.

This also happened a while back but at the time the service people said they could not get it to do that and it eventually stopped.

Touareg :: Non-Nav In Dash CD Shutdown Hitch

I commute about 70 minutes each way daily and sometimes listen to my music pretty loud. Occasionally after almost an hour of listening at mid volume level it will stop the sound. This is the Sound II package. The stereo is still on, and the time elapsed count stops.

I thought maybe the amp was shutting down from getting too hot, but that can't be it since if I eject and reinsert it will play again with no problem.

Touareg :: Electric Fan Very Noisy?

It's 26 degrees out, and my electric fan is running full tilt. It's quite loud... I can't understand why this thing would be running like it is, but I can't believe that it's normal for the radiator fan to go full tilt like that when it's this cold...

Touareg :: Electric Consumers Shut Off

Well, I will be taking the Touareg in for at least the 3rd time regarding this problem. The first time they told me it was a bad battery, so they replaced that. They also gave me a new battery last year, so I am on #3 now. I specifically asked if it was the alternator cable as my voltmeter had been reading anywhere between 12.5 and 14. They said it was just the battery but did keep it an extra night just to be sure the service manager could take a look at it to verify.

The second time I took it in they reset some electrical and reprogrammed some module...I don't have the ticket in front of me.... Again I asked about the alternator cable and again they told me now.

Well, for the past week or so the consumers have been shutting off almost daily. My wife normally drives the car but today I was out in it and it happened twice to me. It seems like it happens more so when it is cold, but I might just be crazy.

I am going to take it in. Is there anything else might be, other than an alternator cable. I truly love this car, and when I look at any other SUV, except Range Rover (can't afford one), I fully believe that the Touareg is better in every aspect, with fit and finish better than any other. This electric consumer thing is starting to get a little obnoxious though.

Prius (2010-12) :: Low Rev Cold Start With Delaying Engine Shutdown

My Prius is having a problem during cold start. When I bought it, the cold start was very energetic with a high rev tone then gradually regulate to a normal pace and petrol engine shuts down. But about 4 months I noticed the tone of the cold start has changed, it starts with a weak and low engine rev and delays to turn off the engine. Today it took about 10 mins to power off the engine. Got 2 months I changed my 12V battery (Bosch now), thought that these symptoms was to notify that battery is failing. But the problem is persistent despite I put new battery..

Volvo - S70 :: 2000 - Intermittent Start After A Medium Duration Shutdown

I have an automatic 2000 Volvo S70 with 202,000 miles. Over the past couple years, I've had an intermittent start problem that seems to only occur after a medium duration shutdown (15min-3hours) following a long duration of operation (about 2 hours or more, usually highway). When the problem occurs, all the lights on the dashboard light-up like everything is normal, but when I turn the key to the start position, nothing happens - silence, the car makes no attempt to start. Usually, I'll wait anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour or more and it'll start with no problem, like there was never a problem in the first place.

It seems to happen more frequently when it's hot outside, but it's hard to say for sure. And it seems to be random, within the parameters previously described; example: it happened twice on my recent drive to vacation, but not at all on the return trip home. Both days were hot, and all stops followed a similar pattern of operation/shutdown. And it never happens after a short stop following long operation; I've never been stuck in front of a gas pump. And I can run errands all day long, stop a dozen times in the blazing heat, and she'll start every time without a problem. It never happens first thing in the morning, and it never happens after I've been at work all day (even if the car has been parked in the sun all day).

Touareg :: 2016 V6 - Electric Parking Brake Engaging Automatically?

Just got a 2016 V6 Lux. I have a question cerning the electric parking brake.

I noticed that at times when I slowly park into a parking space with an obstacle (such as a wall or another car in front), the electric parking brake would engage automatically. Is this an issue or a feature?

To me, this is annoying since sometimes the electric parking brake would engage when I am not ready to fully stop the car yet (need to park further in). It seems that it is related to the parking sensors.

Touareg :: Loud Electric Thud Sound When Lock / Unlock The Doors

I took my 2005 V6 'Reg into the dealership for service. It has about 6700 miles. The problem is it sounds like the amp is 'clipping', which means there is a loud electric 'thud' sound when I lock/unlock the doors. While there I asked the service advisor to do all applicable TSBs and informed her that sometimes the CD player won't eject the CD. Lastly, I advised them that the wipers made a really loud sound when they wipe.

Well, this dealership does not have loaner cars available. They have outsourced them to Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The dealership will pay $30 per day and I am responsible for the taxes, which are 15% of the $30 per day. Is this fair? I don't think I should be responsible for paying taxes for a rental car (a Mitsu Lancer or VW Jetta were my two choices, no less).

Touareg :: Electric Motor Or Fan Type Noise Coming From Front Driver Side

Started getting a noise a few minutes after startup. I can hear it click on and then it sounds like a loud electric motor/pump/fan type noise. Starts pretty loud, then gets quieter (but not gone) after 30 secs. If I turn off the engine, it stops and if I immediately restart, it's gone for a couple minutes.

GMC - Sierra :: 2006 - Electric Auxiliary Fan Comes On Immediately After Start Up

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra with 90,000 miles and a 5.3 engine. Never any issues but I've noticed that when I start the truck up the electric auxiliary fan comes on immediately. This is when the truck is cold and the fan should not be needed. Never had any issues with it overheating or anything. Is this just a sensor gone out or something or is it normal? If it is a sensor which one is it and where would it be located?

Camry :: 2007 Won't Start With New Battery Just One Click And All Electric Power Gone

So my wife's 2007 Camry just got a new battery a week or two ago. The other day she goes into the garage to her car to find it dead, with no power to the locks (had to use key instead of FOB), no accessories, no dash lights and no dome light. When she tried to start the vehicle it gave her a single click, did not crank and did not start.

Initially I approached it from the perspective that maybe the alternator was not charging the battery, so I charged the battery with my portable charger. The battery charged fast and checked out okay.

I then used the key FOB to unlock the door. Adjusted the electric seat to better fit me. The dome light came on. I also checked to see the head lights came on. I turned the ignition to start and I got a single click. Tried it again and got no feedback. The dome light was no longer lit and no other accessories worked. All of the power seemingly drained following the attempt to start.

Now I am wondering if the starter is shorting out or if something more mysterious in the electrical system is malfunctioning in a way that I have never faced before...

Bmw - X3 :: Electric Radiator Fans Run On High After About 10 - 15 Minutes Of Cold Start Drive

After about 10-15 minutes, following a cold start, this 2007 BMW X3 3.0 six does the following:

1) automatic cabin fan behaves erratically, jumping back and forth between low and high speeds;
2) cabin air does not heat;
3) electric radiator fans run on high;
4) coolant temp rises to normal, but then will suddenly jump up to full hot.

At this point, driver of course pulls over and shuts off engine. The amazing part is this: the engine can be re-started IMMEDIATELY and all of the above problems vanish instantly. Radiator fans shut off, temp returns to normal, cabin fan works normally, and cabin heat comes on. I'm thinking sticking thermostat, but why does shutting off the car momentarily fix it? Change of water pressure when coolant pump stops running?

Grand AM :: 2002 - Turns But Won't Start / Electric Car Door Locks Didn't Work

My 2002 Grand AM turns over like it wants to start but dies right away. Head lights and all work good but right off dome light, radio, and electric car door locks didn't work. After reading and trying the security bypass by putting the key to ON etc., many tries I did finally kill the battery. Jumped it for quite a while and same issue.

The security light has been on for years with no issue but doesn't narrow down if it is the bypass problem since it stays on but the other electric items not working at the same time has me perplexed.

Century :: 2000 Buick Won't Start - Making One Click Then Electric Swirling Sound

I have a 2000 Buick Century and i just recently had the fuel pump replaced because it was totally shot. Everything was fine except i realized when i started it sometimes it would crank really slowly, i thought it was the battery because the one i had in there was like 4 years old. One day it just straight up wouldn't start in a Public parking lot so i bought a new battery and it still wouldn't start. Every time i try to start it, it makes one click then a weird electric swirling sound, but wont crank at all. My buddy who has a lot of experience with cars thinks its the starter. We tried banging on it but no luck. How to confirm if this is the starter?

Toyota - Camry :: Won't Start - Getting A Single Click Or Strange Electric Stutter / Gurgle

So my 1991 Toyota Camry won't start.

Symptoms: I get a single click and sometimes a very strange electric stutter/gurgle (think I should call in just the try it on air...). Dash lights come on, dome light too. Windshield wipers work, but slowly as do the automatic seat belts that come back and choke you when your not ready for them (also slower than they should be). No radio, no driver or rear power windows, but the passenger side works as does the sun roof. The battery looks pretty new and the connections are spotless and firm.

Priors: Had the battery run down once before about a month ago... Jumped it and all was well for a while. We don't drive it much, not even daily. Also has temporarily failed to start maybe 5 times in the past 8 months. In those instances I get the rapid clicking and the power in the car seems normal. After a couple of tries it starts right up. Not sure how old the starter is, but I doubt it's recent.

I've checked the boards and found some stuff (power drain, solenoid, starter, clutch switch or something), but the power windows thing is pretty weird....

Camry :: 2010 - Electric Current Noise Coming From Steering Part On Cold Start

I just bought a used 2010 Camry 2.5 (31K miles) couples of weeks before. After weeks driving, I found some problems about the car.

1. when i start it in the morning (cold start), there is a electric currant noise coming from the steering part, when i press the break pedal, the noise disappear, but then it comes back when I release the brake pedal. It just last like half minute, the noise total gone when I drive or the car warms up. I cannot figure it out.

2. the steering is too..... light. I do not know whether the camry is this style or I just doubt whether the tie rod ends have problem. the steering always move with the tyres even just a little disperfection of the road.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Truck Won't Start / Loud Click On Passenger Wheel Well And Then All Electric Completely Dies

Just tried putting a ts6 on my pcm. First time I hooked it back up I just got cranking with no start. So I pulled the pcm terminals really well plugged it back in and got nothing. I do not remember because I was kind of in a hurry if I unplugged the batter cables and back on the second time. I plugged it back in after cleaning terminals and went to start and got nothing. A loud click on passenger wheel well and then all electric in truck completely dies. I hope I didn't fry my pcm. Maybe just blew a fuse or starter relay?
