Jul 20, 2007
I went to VW and on the invoice sheet states that it recommends the air filter being replaced in july. How can I be sure when to replace air filter? Does it pop on the menu screen?

So there I was doing a simple oil change and when I took the filter out I noticed the little spring on top, in the center of the big spring (oil filter adapter) cocked to the side with the little plastic piece broken.
does anybody know if I can replace just the oil filter adapter (spring thingy that goes in the middle of the filter when installed) or do I have to replace the whole filter bowl assembly? And if so where would be a good place to get this part?

Bought a 2013 model last spring. Yesterday, When I made a trip to airport for dropping my girl friend off. I drove it back about 35miles to home. A/C ON makes terrible smell. Immediately I suspect for condition of cabin air filter from my experience from the past. After I switched it back and forth of recirculation switch. I am pretty sure it is involving with. Now I tried to reach it. But I can not figure out how to take grove box rid with out giving a damage. Even it may not there behind a glove box (my wild guess).

My 1999 Camry (4 cylinder) has 97, 500 (+ or -) and back when cars had points etc. I used to do some of the work myself.
Anyway, I want to change the air filter. I did some research online which instructed me to push back the "accordian hose" connected to the air mass meter (or whatever it is called). Easy enough, however, the accordian hose is solid. It does not have the ability to flex.

Can I replace just the oil filter without draining the oil? The reason is I have changed the oil today, but could not get the oil filter housing off, so when I get the proper tool in a couple of days - can I replace just the filter? I mean, will the oil stay in the sump or will all of it drain through the oil filter housing when I open it?

I used to replace my LS430 cabin air filter myself. Now I have a 2012 LS460, and they have made the hatch door in the glove box motorized. I know to open the hatch, it has something to do with depressing the Fan button on the dash. But I don't know exactly what to press, if car should be running, or ignition simply On but not running, etc. What is the exact procedure that opens the little hatch in the glove box so I can replace the filter ? (And my primary reason for wanting to bring it to dealer is simply that it took me 5 minutes to do it on my LS430, vs MUCH longer to go to my dealer.)

This is the second time that I have notice the car leaking just below the oil filter. The leak does not occur immediately after the oil change, rather after several thousand miles. This is the second time in a row this has occurred. Can the filter loosen to allow small leak? Could the mount be warped? Did not think anything of this first time it happened but strange after the second. It is not a lot of oil, just a drop or two overnight.

Where exactly the cabin air filter is located and how to replace it? I bought a filter, It came with an instruction sheet that says the filter is in the passenger side foot well. I pulled off the cover under the dash and the cover on the side of the dash, no filter.
The top of the inside of the glove compartment has an allen wrench on the top of the compartment, (what is that for?) It looks like there are some phillip screws on the top inside of the glove compartment, but I thought I'd seek advice before I tore the entire car apart!

Because of extensive wear on my tires, I may need to be looking to replace them pretty soon. They are 19's with the OEM Pirelli Rossos on them, I'm looking for an all season tire that's high performance. I'm really lost when it comes to tires. I'm looking for something that offers good handling while lasting more than 15,000 miles. Somewhere around 50,000 maybe? Again, i don't know much about this...

Is there a DIY for changing the two engine air filters on the V8? I have done searches and looked in the DIY area. Seems simple but can't get the housing cover in a position that allows the element to be removed.

I've replaced the water pump on my Touareg 2009 TDI at 112,000 miles and am trying to fit a new serpentine belt at the same time. I'm stuck because two sensors and their wires are inside the circle of the belt and I seem to have to disconnect the sensors to remove the old belt and fit the new one - this isn't shown is any of the diagrams I have from website and I am wary of just pulling and twisting to disconnect them. I've posted two pics of the sensors - I think one of them is a crankshaft location sensor. How to disconnect them or with fitting the serpentine belt in general would be great. I love my Touareg TDI (bought from new in 2009) and have just started servicing it on my own - I'd like to drive it 300k miles.
