My Touareg started to have a weird sensation recently. As I turn to the Left the vehicle turns Left more then my steering wheel is turned, It seems to dive in that direction. It just started do do this going Right also. I thought I saw something on this topic before but was unable to find it.

View 17 RepliesI bought 2015 Prius two 2 month ago and the mileage is almost reaching 2000 mile. I am satisfied with my Prius so far. However about 2 weeks ago I found that the steering wheel is little off centered to the right and the car is leaning to the left. I didn't drive on the potholes so I guess the issue has been there from the first day I bought the car. I was just too excited to see the issue at the time I think. Anyway I brought the car to the Toyota dealership where is close to my work. I explained the issue and the technician drove the car and said it seems ok. I said it's not my first car and I have driven several cars so I am certain that the steering wheel is off centered. I researched this forum so I knew the first wheel alignment is covered by the warranty. They seemed reluctant to provide the service but I insisted.
After about an hour they had done the wheel alignment and showed me the result and the result said everything is ok and all the numbers are in the range. It was strange so I asked what if the car is still pulled off to the left and he said there is nothing he can do further so if the issue is still there, the service manager should be involved. I hoped the issue would be resolved but when I drove the car back to home I could still see that the steering wheel was still off centered just like before the wheel alignment. I called them and made another appointment on this coming Monday. I read all the steering wheel alignment related threads and found that it's pretty common issue for the new cars. But I found few people that the issue was completely gone. I think it's a quite easy job to fix by adjust something to make the steering wheel rotated little to the left(3~5 degree). I showed to my wife today to see if I'm too sensitive and she also agreed that the car is pulled to the left.
My steering wheel started pulling to the left when I brake, right after I had my struts replaced. The struts could be related to this problem?
View 2 RepliesI own a 2015 LX570 with just 8000 miles on it. Been having an issue with my steering position. Every time im on a straight road the car seems to be pulling to the left side if my steering wheel is placed exactly to the center. At first i thought it was an alignment issue as i took it several times to the dealer and they just tell me that there is nothing wrong with it and it drives accurately straight until one time a guy from the dealer came and checked it himself with me and realized the issue and told me that its not an alignment issue its something related to the the electrical steering position not being accurate (( that's what he said)). They took it in and made it accurate as they say, to be honest its not really accurate but much better than before until last week when it became worse and like how it was before, pulling hard to the left, its like if i want to drive straight i need to pull the steering wheel slightly to the right.
View 1 RepliesHaving, apparently not uncommon problem of a misaligned steering wheel -- i.e., when the wheel is horizontal, the car drives left? Two dealers have told me that there is no alignment problem (and have given me the BS "crown of the road" explanation). Perhaps this is not an alignment issue, but there's no question that the wheel must be slightly turned to get the car to drive straight, which is at best a major annoyance.
View 5 RepliesTook delivery of car and alignment is way off. Steering wheel is turned left when car is straight. The dealership is trying to charger me for a alignment. Car has 2500 miles on it and came from factory this way.
View 8 RepliesI just bought this nicely used 1991 GMC Sierra 1500 series pickup truck for $650. It started up and ran fine when I gave the seller the money - the few leaks in the break lines.

So my son (19 that knows it all) and I went and changed all the brake lines (made everything one size 3/8 line.) Filled it up with break fluid and started the truck. I had my so pumping the breaks and holding them (his first time) I bled the far rear (passenger side) then I had him turn the steering wheel to the right so I could bleed the front driver side.
He turned, and turned and turned until the engine died.
Now the truck only runs when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right or all the way to the left.
Going to pull the codes to see what the heck is going on....
I have a UK 2006 Mk2 CDX+ which I was driving last night - seemed ok, got to our driveway, turned the steering wheel fully left so I could manoeuvre the car into the driveway when I heard a loud "clunk" noise.
I thought I ran over a bottle or something so carried on reversing, when I got out I noticed the car was parked diagonally! Thought this is strange, I don't park like that and tried again, a bit better but still not parallel! I then noticed the steering wheel was hard to turn, a grinding like noise is heard when I turned so I decided I would need to take into the local in the morning.
Started the car today and drove out and got immediate sensation that steering was not connected to the wheels, the SW was off centre by miles and turning left/right was very sluggish. Lucky the garage is only down the road (but it's not Hyundai specialist) from me as I would not risk driving it down main roads in this condition. Guy at garage asked me to fully turn the SW left to right and we can see that the front of the car actually moved during the process. He is going to take it up on the lift to look underneath.
I just picked up a 2005 SC LB 4x4 5.4 v8 6mt F-350 yesterday and drove it about 250 miles home. It is my first Super Duty, and I love it so far but... the steering has some issues. There seems to be decent amount of play in the steering wheel when I'm driving straight. Also, the truck drives straight when the steering wheel is turned about 30 degrees to the left, and I would like to fix that and bring it to center. When I was cruising on the highway (65-70 mph), there was also two 20 minute periods of time spaced an hour apart where the steering would get light and the truck would dart to the left (i do not think road conditions were a factor as it did not happen on the worst stretches of highway. The truck has 133,000 miles on it, and has had pretty routines maintenance done on it, as it was owned by a drilling business as a work truck to haul tools. The guy I bought it from said that it needed the steering shock/damper replaced, so I will do that, but what else to you think I need to do to the truck?
View 2 RepliesI have a problem with my VW Touareg 05 plate. When I turn the steering wheel full lock left or right in tight places the car shudders. It doesn't do it all the time but does appear to be getting worse as time goes on. I have been told that it may well be the Stepper motor.

View 9 RepliesI have a 2003 Silverado 1500 with 198,000 miles. I was on the PA turnpike a few days ago and notice that when I take my hand off the wheel, the truck pulls to the left. I have to hold the steering wheel center to keep it straight. When I let go, it makes a slight turn to the left.
I did notice that I had a bad ball joint on the passenger side. So I replaced the upper control arm with a new ball joint included and did the lower ball joint on the passenger side since I already had everything apart. I just got my truck aligned this morning and still am having the same pulling issue. The dealership couldn't figure it out either. Here are the specs from the alignment printout:
Front Left Camber:
Before: -0.7; Actual: 0.0
Front Left Toe:
Before: 0.13; Actual: 0.01
Front Right Camber:
Before: 0.7; Actual: 0.0
Front Right Toe:
Before: 0.02; Actual: 0.00
I do rotate the tires every 5,000 miles and are all wearing evenly.
I just purchased a '11 Camry with 72000 miles. Got a good deal on it, other than not having a warranty... Since I've had it, when driving on the interstate, the car has a VERY strong pull to the left. If I let off the wheel, the car drifts to another lane in less than a second. But what's strange, is if I move my car to the furthest right side lane, or on a back road, the pull is not as strong, and sometimes will even pull a bit to the right. I've had all new tires put on, I've rotated the new tires, I've had it aligned 4 different times to no avail . I've also replaced all the brakes and the rear caliper on the drivers side as the rubber boot had a rip in it..
The steering feels a bit off as well, there is no play, but the steering just feels "wobbly" .
2K 1.8T Golf. Lowered on Koni struts and neuspeed street (red) springs last year. Rear axel bushing done soon after. Replaced front and rear strut mounts and bearings at the time of struts and springs. Rack died on me in the fall so I had it replaced along with newer control arms and upgraded bushings. Aligned right after the rack was installed and ran like an arrow until last weekend. Now it pull to right, more as I speed up. I also noticed that when I turn left, the steering is much stiffer then steering left (full turns and mild turns).
PS fluid is still full. My ball joints are about 3 years old so I'm leaning towards that direction. Especially after this past winter and the never ending pot holes in Detroit. The shop used moogs and were regularly greased as they had zerk fittings. I think I hear some clunking upfront but I'm unclear as my old GHL Muffler weld finally gave out and is having by a hockey lace and it is rattling every time I accelerate or hit a bump. I'm going to jack it up this weekend to do some exhaust work so I'll give it a good once over and shake down what I can.
99 Buick, 170xxx miles. Pulled to the right, so much so that I had to steer to the left to go straight. After getting a 4 wheel alignment, it drives straight and I can't feel it pull while holding the wheel, but if you let go of the wheel it veers to the right. What I should check? Is is possible the tires are causing this?
View 11 RepliesI picked up my V8 yesterday. Overall great car. I spent several hours at the dealer working out little things and doing some shakedown driving. So I finally am ready to pull the trigger. I pay, they hand me the keys, and I am off. It's now dark, the dealership is closing, and I have to drive home. I get in the car and the floor lights in the front (where your feet are) and in the floor of the rear cargo area won't go off. I play with every control in the car and cant get them off. The overhead lights turn off - no problem. Then I get home and turn the car off. They still wont go off. I have to pull the fuse to get them off so it wont run the battery down. Then I notice that the red instrument panel will not go off either - end up pulling that fuse too.
View 14 RepliesI noticed the first time drove it on the highway since I bought it last week, the steering wheel finds its home a couple of degrees left of center. It tracks perfectly with no pull dragging it off to either side.
After searching, it looks as if it isn't uncommon for the toe to be set while neglecting to lock the steering wheel down at its center position. And it's a simple tie rod adjustment.
I just had an alignment done and the steering wheel is turned counter clockwise a little. I know very little about alignment. I know the terminology and what it means and i heard the the rear camber and toe isn't adjustable on mk4s. I did lower my car,only about one inch though.

I've noticed for a few weeks now that sometimes when I'm driving the steering wheel will pull kind of hard to the right. It'll do it for a while and then it'll go to the left, or it'll just go straight. It started to wobble and shake last week. I had the tires rotated and balanced a few days ago. It revealed that one of the two original tires had a broken belt. I had it replaced and the car drove better.
Today I had to go out of town and I still felt the wheel pulling in my hand to the right for a little bit and some small vibration that stopped after some miles. I checked the wheels and I didn't see a nail or anything sticking out. This is a very basic Caliber. No RPM gauge, no electric windows, or door locks, not even cruise control. I've had it for three years now. I've changed all but one of the original tires. It has over 99,000 miles on it.
I have a 2014 RX350 with 20K miles.
Recently noticed the steering wheel pulling a bit to the right. I took the car to a local Conrad's Auto service place which I believe is very reputable.
They told me the vehicle is out of alignment and to contact my Lexus dealer because they would likely fix for no charge given the low miles.
I brought the car to Lexus dealer and they said nothing is wrong. Not sure if they did anything but I did not notice the pulling to the right at that time.
However, I am noticing the wheel pull to the right again. Not sure what to do here. I also had a 2011 RX and never noticed an issue.
What can I do here to determine if there's a problem or not?
My Lexus dealer is over 30 miles away so it's not a convenient drive. Also, I have no proof of anything just the wheel pulling a bit to the right.
