i started her up this morning and get her around the block..start to do about 30-35 and all of a sudden my traction light goes nuts....blinking like it is nobodies business, i pulled over and checked everything... nothing stuck...nothing wrong. the pavement was dry and i did not run over anything...
View 1 RepliesI need to troubleshoot a problem with the ABS & Traction control lights on a 2006 Mountaineer Premium with 126,000 miles. During the year that I have owned the vehicle this problem has occurred every time it is driven on a long trip. The previous owner never drove on longer trips so has no experience with this problem.
When you drive the vehicle around town and on shorter trips (less than an hour) there are no indications of problems. The ABS and Traction control lights come on as part of the start-up check cycle and go off. The ABS and Traction control work in low traction conditions and the lights function correctly when either one is activated.
The unusual behavior occurs on trips longer than an hour. Typically after about 1 1/2 hours at highway speed both the ABS and Traction control lights come on as well as the Wrench symbol in the message panel. It you hit "Reset" the Wrench symbol goes away but the ABS and Traction control lights stay on. The brakes work normally. I do not know if the ABS and Traction Control will work. I have never been in a low traction condition when the lights are on.
Both lights stay on until you stop the vehicle and turn off the ignition. When you restart the vehicle the ABS light is on but not the Traction Control light. When you start to drive the vehicle the ABS light goes out immediately.
After about 1/2 hour of driving both lights come on and the Wrench symbol displays in the message panel. Whenever you stop the vehicle and restart during the trip the cycle repeats. The day after you finish the long trip everything is normal for driving around town and on short trips.
I have 4 lights that came on simultaneously on my 2009 Pontiac Vibe. My check engine, AWD, Traction Control and my VSC Off is blinking. I had the codes read at Advance Auto and 2 codes came up and they are C1201 Engine control module performance and P0456 Evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak).
View 6 RepliesAfter I had the transaxle replaced in my 2008 I was driving on the interstate and the traction control light started blinking and a beeping came out of the dash area. A fast beep-beep-beep-beep-beep... for about a minute then stopped. I took it back to the dealer and they said it didn't throw any code plus "that shouldn't have anything to do with the transaxle".
Everything was fine until a few days ago it rained and it did it again three times, only at highway speeds, stopping after I got under 37 mph. Is something getting wet that shouldn't be? It doesn't slow the car down or anything like a real slipping situation would.
My Truck Ran out the day I brought it home with the trip meter saying I could still go 50 Miles. I thought the pickup was broke in the tank but when dropped the tank it was folded like an accordion and full of crud. I put a new one on and hutch modded the pickup.
So the Light cam on last night and I reset the trip and have a 5 gallon can of Diesel in the back. When it ran out I put 5 gallons in and the light was still on.
Our 6CD Radio indicates all the CD Slots are full and there are no CD's in it. It will not "load", just says "CD Error". I purchased another USED radio same exact Model # and it does the same thing. Do I have (2) bad radio's which do the exact same thing? Or is there something else in the vehicle which would make the radio's indicate this? Like rear controls?
View 3 RepliesMy 2004 Honda Accord wouldn't start this morning. Immobilization indicator was blinking. After a bit, it started just fine, as the indicator stopped blinking. My thinking at this time was that it had rained torrentially the previous night, maybe some moisture had got into the circuitry and caused a little 'hiccup.' Then, as I drove, about 5 minutes later, the car started trying to stall. The check engine light came on, then the battery light came on and flashed. The engine ran erratically. Both check engine and battery lights started blinking erratically. At one point the dash beeped at me, like the warning sound it makes when the emergency brake is on while the car is moving. This got worse as I drove. I pulled over to the nearest shop. 2 hours of looking at the car, they said the camshaft sensor and the alternator needed to be replaced. .
View 9 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius with 84k miles on it, I recently purchased it used w/ 82k miles.
While driving, about 15 miles into my drive the check engine light starts blinking with acceleration (I counted as many as 18 blinks in one time). The traction control light also came on a few times. With acceleration, the car shook. I was close to an advanced auto parts, so I went there hoping they could work. They were unable to have the connector sync with the car.
I ended up calling my girlfriend and asking her to look on this site for problems as I described. She found and read me info such as water leaking into the spark plugs (it did just rain allot yesterday) and bad gas. To my surprise, there was really no clear answer.
I called and got it towed to the Toyota dealer. The dealership just called and said they did a quick scan, and it "appears not to be from bad gas" but more testing will be done tomorrow. Would it be worth it to drive up and try some fuel water remover tonight? I also read on changing the spark plugs isn't too hard?
Hyundai Elantra 2011... My issue occurred just yesterday on a highway at speeds above 65 mph. I initially noticed my traction control light blinking upon light acceleration but with no noticeable loss in traction.
I continued with caution. About 5 minutes later, the light now was blinking regardless of the amount of acceleration. I found I could push the accelerator to the floor with no added power and my speedometer was dropping below 55 mph.
Being a busy highway, I had to very quickly get to the side of the road as my car dropped to dangerous speeds in the middle of the highway. Had I no shoulder or outlet, I could've been in serious trouble.
The situation resolved itself with a simple shut down, restart of the vehicle. But it makes me very concerned why the error in the computer occurred in the first.
2001 Dakota: With the Ignition "ON" (engine running or not)any lights that are ON blink off and on. if the Ignition switch is in the "OFF" or "accessories" positions they work normally. It can be just the dome lights, the Park lights or all of the lights. It some times takes 10 to 15 minutes for this to begin, but once it starts, it is continuous. I have checked the switches, the relays, and every connection I can find. I unplugged the connector from the dash to the chassis and it stopped. I ASSume that means it is probably not the "Central Timing Module," otherwise the problem would continue. I don't know what could be in that circuit that would overload the system only with the Ignition ON.
View 3 RepliesSuddenly the blinker in my right exterior mirror has stopped blinking. I had this once before and just as I arrived at my Dealer and switching off the ignition, it suddenly started working again after starting the car again.
This time that didn't work. Everything else works. I hear the flasher 'clicking' and all blinkers, mirror folding and exit lights work.
Is there a fuse I should check (but everything else works) or is this again a glitch that will correct itself. By the way, there is no 'malfunction' indicated in the MFI.
I just tried folding the mirrors and in the folded position the right hand mirror blinked once and then not again. How can I check the bulb/LED in the mirror?
My turn signal blinking noise just stopped but turn signal lights still work and no error codes or messages. I know some folks don't like the noise but I do since the noise lets me know that I've left the signal on.
I do not remember seeing it in either fuse box.
I can't seem to figure out what to do. I have two 2010 tourages (Work at a bulletproofing company down here in Mexico) and on the first one, we just finished the little light keeps blinking. I took it to get scanned and it shows no errors.. yet the light keeps blinking and it's telling me AFS inoperable.
I tried replacing both head lights with the headlights of the other Touareg but it still keeps blinking...
This started with the blinking compass (didn't think much of it)... then i got the "Running Gear Workshop" fault (brought it in 3 days ago and they said they fixed it)... but today the "workshop" fault returned, the voltmeter went dead and blinker indicators in the dash went dead (even though the blinkers are functional).
Boston VW just told my wife the "battery is fine" and then admitted they have "really have no idea what's wrong with it. 2004's are a mystery because they were released before the 'bugs' were worked out"... but they would be happy to get us a rental car (and have us pay for it) and they will try and figure it out.... (probably turn it on and off a bunch of times till the problems go away).
On my 4WD selector, the small icon that shows the 4 wheels with 2 of them angled (the right most choice if turning the knob) is showing up in my info center on my 2004 Touareg. As well, all the lights on that 4WD selector know are blinking. I can't find anything about this in the manual.
View 1 RepliesI started my Treg this morning and let it warm up for several minutes. I noticed on the lcd right above the temperature I had a graphic of the low 4 wheel drive symbol. Also the lights on the control wheel (where you would put it into low 4 wheel) by the gear shift was blinking on and off. So I drove it for awhile and I knew I wasn't in low 4 wheel. I stopped and turned off the engine and turned it back on. It was normal. this has happened 3 times now. Only when starting cold. I would then turn it off then back on and the symbol and the blinking would stop.
View 14 RepliesHumming started a couple weeks ago. The traction and abs lights randomly come on, have been for about 3 months now. Sometimes the low trac light comes on sitting still and I can feel the abs kicking on.
Replaced the passenger wheel bearing last year along with all four rotors and pads. Replaced the drivers bearing 2 days ago but still humming. Oriellys scan indicated something was wrong with the front passenger side abs, could that bearing go bad so soon? One of the codes also indicated the brake lights coming on during deceleration even without hitting the brakes, tested that and it's not true.
Doing a rotation this week, see if it works for hum at all. It's loud, when decelerating, it sounds like a plane until you get to about 20mph.
Just put new wheels, tires on my car...19's with tires 235/35/19, soon as i put them on and took it out to see any issues, the driver side rear wheel/tire making some horrible squeaking noise that just kept getting worse as i just drove the car around the block..ABS light and traction control both came on and stayed on as well (doesn't sound good, expensive) my H20 is ruined it seems.
View 1 RepliesRecently I started to have my EPC and Traction Control Lights come on once in a while (no CEL). And when that happens, it looks like my Passat is going into limp mode, because it drives, but it hardly has any power.
VagCom confirmed that the problem was coming from Throttle Body (I don't remember the exact code), I replaced the throttle body, did Throttle Body Adaptation, but I still have the same problem.

My friend has a 2005 Tdi touareg (WVGZZZ7LZ5D053023). The low range indicator in the instrument cluster keeps on popping, the low range and high range indicator in the center console near the gear shift lever keeps on blinking at the same time. Driving the touareg was really slow, and the low and high range still keeps on blinking. There is no MIL appearing on the instrument cluster but scanning with VAG COM reveals this fault code below. I tried erasing the fault code but it keeps on coming back after a few seconds.

My front headlamp keeps blinking on and off over hard road bumps. It doesn't always do it, but enough that it has become a problem. It throws a head lamp fault most times and goes right back to normal.
I used the tool to remove the assembly and slide it back in. It didn't seem to fix it. Any tips get it in there tighter? Or to make sure the electrical connections are tight? I am afraid it is adding a lot of wear and tear on the bulb and will burn it out soon. Plus it is annoying when the chime goes off.
