On Friday (outside temperature 2 degrees), my TPMS started alarming the usual (CHECK TYRE PRESSURE). So I looked at the display and all four "tyres" had an exclamation point. So I took out my $1 tire pressure gauge and all four tires were 44 psi. After re-setting the TPMS, all is back to normal.
I wonder what happened there?
I've been having problem with my 04 V8's TPMS. Every few hours, i get a message of Flat Tyre and it will come and go.. took it into dealer third time today, left the car there for 4 hours and they call me back said "Everything is normal" ... They can't reproduce the problem, even thought I have show them the video.

I have a 2004 V8 with 104,000 miles. For the last two weeks every time I go out in the morning a few miles from home the tire pressure monitor tells me I have a flat tyre. This warning light goes off when I continue to drive. This does not happen every day but I have noted this happen when it rainy or is particularly humid.

Since then the readings are fine with the only exception that I do get the "FLAT TYRE" warning a few minutes after I start my trip and for about 2-3 minutes until it goes off again. Shall I take it back to the dealer for reprogramming, is it something else I should look for...
View 1 RepliesLast week I had new tires installed on my 18" Samarkands and the TPMS light has been on since. I've verified that all four corners have the metal TPMS sensors in place and the tires are at 40psi, spare is 38psi. I have driven over 100 miles since the tire change. In past the light would come on when pressure below 36psi, and would turn off when tires inflated.
Have this problem after a tire change? Are the sensors easily damaged? Discount Tire/America's Tire Store said to bring the car back so they could take a look, but first wanted to get Vortex input.
On my MKVI the tire pressure monitor warning light would go off once the tires were inflated to the proper pressure. Does the MKVII do that or do you need to reset the system after every warning?
View 1 RepliesStarted my treg this morning and got the tire pressure warning. Cchecked in convenience setup to see which one had low pressure, and it indicated all four tires were low. Filled tires up and checked pressure again (manually using digital gauge) and they were correct. Started up treg and still got tire pressure warning for all four tires.
View 4 RepliesI got the message to "check tire pressure" which I did. All tires were very close to 41 psi and I tweaked the pressures to the recommended indicated on the driver's side door jamb. I did this almost a week ago and the indicator still goes on. I check the tires again and the gauge reads 41 on all 4 tires. Can something still be wrong? Does something have to be reset?
View 4 RepliesTrying, to retrofit the TPMS 'clearing' button for the system that uses ABS. Easy enough to fit the button, but need to run a wire to the ABS module. Took out the glovebox/cubby hole hoping it would reveal where the main wireharness goes through the firewall, but there is a big plastic unit behind the glovebox. It would have made life easier as the ABS is right in front of the glovebox but guess I'll need to take another route.

View 10 RepliesMy 2006 Golf V R32 DSG with 74kkm on the clock started acting up this following weekend.
Took a slow right turn, and BAM the yellow power steering light came up, along with the yellow sign for ESP deactivated and tyre pressure failure.
Then i found out, that a couple of turns to each side would clear the power steering fault light and shortly after the 2 others would follow.
When i tried that for about 4-5 times i took it to my local shop, where we tested it with vcds and the only fault was the steering angle sensor, which I then had replaced, and mechanic then reset the ESP for some reason.
Picked up the car, and it worked fine... for 10km then i had the excatly same thing accour again.
What can be wrong? I have thourgt about the steering rack, but the symptoms are not what others have encountered.
My 2004 V-8 Touareg has 19000 miles. The other day I started receiving "Flat Tyre" warnings on the MFD. The warning only appears when I accellerate to about 50 mph. It disappears when I come to a stop. The air pressure in all tires remains consistent (no leaks) and resetting the TPMS system hasn't corrected the problem. What's causing this.
View 8 RepliesI've got an '04 Touareg V8, and i am getting "Defective Wheel on Board" and "Flat Tyre" messages in the MF1 display (with associated annoying-beeping). I am assuming that it's time to replace one or more of the TPMS sensors.
- My understanding is that one cannot simply replace the batteries, the entire sensor needs replacing.
- I assume all 4 need to be replaced as a sat.
I have a 2004 V6 with 20s and close to 32K miles, never driven off road. Last Friday this warning "Check brake pads" started to show sometimes. I believe the dealer changed them before, but if he did not, how much should it cost me to replace them?

View 24 RepliesAs the subject suggests, I replaced the two front tires on Thursday. I checked tire pressure after the install and it was per spechs on all 4 tires (rear tires replaced few months ago).
Today during a long highway drive TPMS came on. I remember that after replacing the rear ones (in a different shop), the TPMS was on when I picked the car up, but it reset itself after about 2 miles.
I just got new tires installed on Saturday. I drove home about 3 miles with no problems. I then started driving this morning and when I got on the highway (70+ mph) the TPMS light came on. I pulled over and all of the tires looked fine. I tried resetting the button but it immediately came back on. I then had to drive about 20 miles round trip down to the 1st exit and back home. I attempted to go to the tire installer but they were closed. I checked the tire pressure next door at a gas station and all the tires had 38-40 psi.
Two things of note. The passenger side tires stem caps did not screw on tight, instead they would just keep spinning. I don't think tight caps could have caused this though. Secondly the tires were replaced because they had very little tread left and I hit numerous pot holes one night causing a flat in one and a bubble in another. Why this would happen. I would think a bent rim could cause the air to leak but the pressures where perfect all around.
Had my winter tires put on today and the tpms warning light came on. Tire pressure is ok. Never had this issue before with these tires/wheels. This would be the third winter with them. Is there a way to reset the warning light on a 2010? I have read about doing this on later models but nothing on the 2010. I do not have vagcom tools. Hoping I do not have to take to dealer.
View 4 RepliesMy 2007 ES350 had a problem with the TPMS where it would flash for the first minute and then stay solid. After checking all 5 tire pressures and resetting the system by using the button under the drivers side dash, I determined that it was probably a bad sensor. Seeing as how they are 7 years old, this seemed reasonable. (I also checked to make sure the passenger side button for the second set of tires was not pushed).
I just had new tires installed at Costco, and brought 5 new sensors for them to install. They supposedly did whatever sensor registration magic is required, but I am still having the same issue. The light blinks for the first minute then goes solid.
What is interesting is that when I try to reset using the button, the light flashes slower (about 1 per second) 3 times, then goes faster (about every half second or so) for the rest of the minute. Is this some code that the system is trying to display?
Also, is there any trick to getting this system re-initialized that I can pass on to the Costco techs when I take it back up there?
Yesterday, I swapped my OEM 18" setup for new 17" winter wheels and tires (set at 37.5 PSI at 55 F)). Today I drove 30 miles and then my TPMS light came on (Temp=36F). Pulled over, checked pressure - all tires at 36.5 PSI.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2014.5 Camry and winter is around the corner. I was going to buy a set of oem 17in SE rims and put snow tires on with out the tpms sensors. The question I have to ask is once the light comes on can you disable the traction control. Reason I ask is because on my 2011 accord it forces the traction control on and is sucks. Snow tires without the sensors.
