Touareg :: Switching From Regular Lamps To Xenon?

Can I switch from Regular lamps to Xenon? If so how and where do I begin doing this?

View 2 RepliesYesterday my 2010 Prius 4 (98k miles) was normal until I switched the lights from normal to hi beam and then back again. The hi bean works but the regular headlights do not. All other lights work and there are no warning lights lit. Turn signals are normal. Could this be a circuit breaker?
View 19 RepliesJust noticed a considerable amount of condensation on the lenses of both fog lamps. Since I rarely, if ever use them, I'm wondering if this will be a problem over a period of time. Does this indicate a flaw that I should address with my dealer?
View 15 RepliesThe head lamps on my touraeg flicker every once and a while. I checked the harness connections and they are fine.
View 2 RepliesMy bi-xenons are too low as delivered and I need to move them up. I've spent several hours reading through the numerous posts here regarding this, but they seem to be split as to whether this should be done manually with the screws under the hood, or electronically with the VAG-COM.
I have a VAG-COM, and where to find a setting for this given that the 55 module isn't active on the Touareg. I messed with the screws, and while that did raise the headlights, I'm afraid I might be compromising the auto-leveling feature of the xenons...
I cannot turn off the Xenon head lights in my early 04. I have the DRL option on. If you open the door, turn the key on for the radio, just want to jump start another car, etc. - always on.
View 7 RepliesI've searched many threads looking for a successful conversion of someone buying the OEM assembly including balasts and bulbs, housing, but nothing really shows if it's possible. I've only heard noise that either you can do it by buying silly aftermarket kits, etc. I've done the OEM change in my MKIV GTI before, but the T-reg is different and not sure it's plug and play. I found the complete assembly online with HID lamps 1st vw parts. They price each side at around $390 each. BUT my question is will they plug in and work? I have the VAG-COM so programming the car is not a problem. I've heard that I'd need a controller, but not sure if that's the case or not.
View 9 RepliesI recently changed out my headlight bulbs and now the headlights are slightly out of alignment. I know that the Xenon-equipped Tregs have self-leveling headlights, but mine is the non-Xenon model.
How do I go about aligning the headlights? I did a search and found a thread in the Passat forum, referring to "2 white screws", but don't recall seeing anything similar under my hood.
I had a bulb go out and was replaced under warranty. The problem no is that it is a yellow color and not blue/white like the original and the other. The dealer said that after burn in it will also change to the blue/white.
View 0 RepliesI just bought new DS1 8k bulbs to replace my aging 6k bulbs. It was a sinch to install and seemed too good to be true. Well i turn my car on and the check bulbs light came on and low and behold the lights do not turn on. The dealership said it would not matter whether I had 6k before and bought 8k but it seems like this might be the issue.
View 4 RepliesAsides from the myriad of other gremlins associated with our Tregs, my wife's has developed a problem in which the passenger side Xenon Head lamp stops working. When this occurs there is a corresponding warning on the MFI (which is stuck on warning because of the tire pressure module issue). If you turn the vehicle off, sometimes it resets and comes back on - other times it does not.
04 Reflex Silver V8, P/A, Conv. Pkg, Xenons.
I noticed yesterday that my driver side xenon light flickers when driving... It's a bit annoying and i can notice it more now. Going to the dealer again on monday, I have my DRL Vagged, wonder if they are going to give me hell about this.
View 7 RepliesTroubleshooting a headlight problem on a 2004 V8 Touareg. Driver's side xenon low beam flickered rapidly and then quit working. I replaced xenon bulb with OEM part, still not working. Swapped in known good bulb from passenger's side, still not working. Took to dealership, who said it needed new ballast, which dealer would be happy to install for a mere $900 in parts and labor. Declined dealer's offer, ordered new replacement OEM ballast (from Chrysler dealer for several hundred less than VW), installed new ballast, still not working. Cleared all fault codes using VAG-COM, still not working. Swapped in known good ballast from passenger's side headlight, still not working. Auto-leveling is still working in both lights. So...not the bulb, not the ballast. Wiring harness, perhaps?
View 3 RepliesMy 2002 Camry CEL came on as well as the VSC Trac Off lamps. I checked the codes and fixed a loose fuel cap, cleared the code the CEL lamp went off as did the VSC Trac Off lamps . . . until I restarted the car and went a few feet - they came back on. Checked for codes but none reported. The VSC Trac Off go off after starting engine and will not reappear until car is moving. Checked most of the reported remedies, brake fluid, tire pressure, etc. but to no avail.
View 14 RepliesI'm trying to get my fog lamps to turn on when my parking lights are on and low beams are off. I obviously want the foggies to be on when the low beams are on as well, but mostly I'd like to have the fogs and parking lamps on in tandem. Not illegal here in Illinois (not that I'd care anyway...there's enough corruption in the state to overlook such little things).
How to make this happen without a) voiding any warranty, melting anything, and c) blowing any fuses? Pictures would be most useful.
I'm hoping to make an easy fix (take wire A out here, put in slot B here, etc) so that my Sonata looks a little more...unique.
Oh yeah, 2010 Sonata V6 Limited.
It just started in the last few weeks. After powering down and opening the doors, the overhead lamps will intermittently flash on and off (in a fairly slow succession...i.e. 5-10 seconds between cycles). I thought the 3 settings were: Always on, on when door(s) is ajar OR always off. I have it set to the middle setting and this oddity has me stumped (maybe I need to revisit the manual).
View 5 RepliesI would like to buy a 99 B5, with a 2.8 V6 30V 5 speed GLX. The car is running smooth, accelerates well, but there is a fault with the ABS/BRAKE system. When the car starts up, the ABS and the BRAKE warning lamps are staying on, and the central display says "STOP", "BREMSEN FEHLER", "BERTIEBS ANLEITUNG".
Can I find out the system fault from these messages, or should I get the codes? Does it mean that not just the ABS system is faulty but there is something wrong with the brakes too? I did a test drive, and put on the brakes hardly, and the car stopped well.
And there is an other question..the cluster shows the info in "euro mode" (km, l/100km, german language, etc). I would like to see the info in english, and MPG's and miles, so how can I set back to "US mode"?
1. Neither tail lamp lights
2. License plate light works
3. Front parking lights work
4. Both tail lamp bulbs are fine (visual and continuity both check)
5. No power at the bulb socket on either tail lamp
6. Tail lamp ground in both bulb sockets is fine
7. Fuse under dash is not blown
8. All brake lights work fine.
9. All other lights working.
My factory fog lamps only work with the parking lights are on, when I switch on my headlights they go off. It's not the fuse since they work with parking lights.
View 11 RepliesI know that headlight lamps burning out is a common problem with the Passat. My passenger side low beam lamp will be replaced for the 4th time today! Checking my records I replaced this same lamp on my 2002 Passat in 6/04, 12/05, 2/08, and now 12/08. The driver's side lamp was only replaced once in 2/06.
Fortunately it is an easy job and I am always careful not to touch the lamp glass with my fingers. I am wondering why the passenger side would burn out much more often than the driver's side? Is there a better brand lamp to buy than the Sylvania Silverstar that I have been using??
To make your fog lamps stay on when you go from low beam to high beam ,what do you have to do. I know there is a wire you cut and go to ground under your dash.
