I don't know how or why my heated steering wheel icon is coming up on the central dash display? it is not that my steering wheel heater is on , cause its not. [ i do have the winter package] but i occasionally get this little guy showing up with no other message?
View 4 RepliesWith my B6 '09 wagon, when I turn off ESP by pressing the console button, the icon flashes on the dash display and then goes out. Is this working correctly? I would think it would flash when ESP is on and it has encountered slipping and corrected. With the button set to off, I would think the light would stay lit on the dash?

View 1 RepliesI got an 07 LS460 without navi but it still comes with a screen. Last week, the display started to work only intermittently and got pretty pissed. Last night was driving without the screen, but when a passenger stepped in, the jolt kinda made it work all over again. However, this morning it didn't work again.
I brought it to the stealership today and they claimed that the fuses are all working and its the screen that is spoiled and has offered to replace it for about 12kUSD. What do you recommend me doing. But first I am gonna try to remove the battery for 20mins tonight to see if it gets better.
I love this car, but it makes me crazy at times. Was driving home from work last night and decided to stop at a sports bar for supper. Used turn signal to indicate right turn, looked at the dash, no indicator lighted on the dash, no 'tick, tick' sound.
Looked at the mirror housing, the turn arrow was flashing. The wife and I looked things over once we got parked, front turn signal worked (right and left), mirror housing worked and rear turn signal worked, but no dash indicators. As further information, brake lights worked, too.
Decided to 'reboot' the car. Shut it off, turn it on, no indicators. Went into the sports bar. Returned two hours later. Turned on car, used turn signal to indicate as we were leaving the parking lot, everything worked just fine...
Over the weekend when starting up my '04 Treg I noticed on the dashboard display the following warning sign "WHEEL FAILURE". Does any one have a clue what that may be? Once started moving the display only showed the little circle sign that you get when the tire pressure monitor senses that one tire has lower than usual pressure. After driving for more than one hour that sign went off. This morning the same warning came on again.
View 6 RepliesHaving, apparently not uncommon problem of a misaligned steering wheel -- i.e., when the wheel is horizontal, the car drives left? Two dealers have told me that there is no alignment problem (and have given me the BS "crown of the road" explanation). Perhaps this is not an alignment issue, but there's no question that the wheel must be slightly turned to get the car to drive straight, which is at best a major annoyance.
View 5 RepliesOn my MPG display if I push the steering wheel button once, I see actual MPG and the numbers jump all over the place depending on how I am driving. Push the button a 2nd time I see avg mpg, push it a third time and I see range how many more miles I can go.
If I push the button a 4th time I see "- - -?".
There is what appears to be an icon on my touch display that resembles the battery icon on my smart phone. Currently is has one red bar lit up. I have not been able to find anywhere in the owners manual what this battery icon means and what to do when it is red.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 GTI, has about 4000 miles on it. Sunday went for a quick ride down some FM's and on the hi-way. Got up to about 85mpg for about 10 miles, hit the exit back to the house which is only about a mile away. On that mile ride home I took it real easy maybe 35-45 mph decided to have a little AC also (outside temp 90F degrees).
I pulled into the garage sat and idled for about 30 seconds, on the MF display up pops the Cruise Control Malfunction icon ( amber on the MFI,But the owners manual says it's RED. it's a cruise symbol with a giant exclamation ) then it goes away. I looked at my cruise stalk, cruise was Off. I turned it on and up Pops the Malfunction Icon again then goes Off. Took the GTI back out and No Cruise malfunctions. Also, when I did finally park the Car both cooling fans were on for at least 4-5 mins after I had shut everything down.
Did I run my little GTI too hard? Is the Cruise control Malfunction icon like a nuisance message that doesn't really mean anything or, is it a sign CC it's already toast, or getting ready to go.
what does that icon or symbol on the left side the temperature on the the multi information display? I only noticed it yesterday when the temperature was around 2'C.I'm not sure if it is a malfunction since I can not see it on the manual.
View 4 RepliesJust took delivery of my 2005 SC430 (Egyptian Sand, white leather, 55k miles. Lovely vehicle.) which I thought came with Bluetooth.
However, when looking to pair my iPhone 4S the 'Phone' icon is not present on the ML Nav Info display screen, suggesting that maybe Bluetooth is missing? I confirmed it's a 2005 from the VIN.
When I depress the little button below and behind the steering wheel volume buttons (left side - this is a US car) I get a voice saying 'No cassette inserted' or words to that effect, suggesting it's a cassette control button, not a Bluetooth one. The Nav instruction book which came with the car specifically refers to the presence of Bluetooth.
How to find if I have Bluetooth or not? My iPhone cannot 'discover' anything.
Was caught in traffic last night and noticed the steering wheel is not concentric to the hump in the dash over the speedo and tachometer. I need to drive a few other cars to see if this is common.......Or did VW overlook one of the little things during the design stages.

View 17 RepliesI know there has been much talk about steering wheel shake between 70-80mph. I have the shakes at 70mph. But, I'm wondering why my service department (Boucher VW in WI) can't drive my car up to 70mph so they can feel the shake. The service manager said they absolutely cannot go over 65mph. So ofcourse they can't verify the shake and in turn won't balance my new front tires properly (VW replacements). Am I losing my mind here -- I can't have a car that doesn't shake at highway speeds? How to get them properly balanced through VW service?

View 12 RepliesI get a rattle on lower speeds only and it seems is from the wheel mechanism, when I move the wheel when the car is at lower speeds in short movements quickly I think is the same rattle but when I move the wheel in higher speeds it seem that it gets tighter and no more rattle, it is very annoying..
View 6 RepliesMy base model has the button but no steering wheel heat. My logic says if they put the button in, they probably put the heat strip in, and it's just a matter of activating this feature..
View 22 RepliesMy T-reg has the winter pkg with the heated steering wheel. Is there some kind of indication light that comes on that lets you know the heat is on , I can't see any indication ,and it seems dumb to not have one . Like having heated seats w/o a indicator light and having to wait till your butt heats up to see if they're on.
