It just started and it it only does it at speeds over 40 miles or so. It comes on all of a sudden when driving sometimes. It gets a little louder when coming off the throttle as well.
View 3 RepliesHaving problems with a squeaking or ticking noise coming from the front windshield area on the passenger side? I took off the A-pillar and tweeter speaker cover, and the noise was still there. Pressing on the A-pillar did not work and it's not any of the cords or plastics in there rubbing. It almost sounds like it's behind the A-pillar. Pressing on the dash, windshield, headliner, etc. all have no effect on the noise.
I'm trying really hard to fix this myself because I'm worried about a tech tearing apart the dash trying to fix it. It might end up worse than it is now. I'm thinking this TSB will need to be done (which seems to apply to all Toyotas): [URL] ....
Next on my list to check is the passenger side mirror (make sure it's fastened securely) and also the black liner under the windshield wipers. I also have foam (like the kind you use when installing a window AC) which I may also try stuffing into the bottom of the front windshield (and maybe the top) to see if that works.
If all else fails, the car is going to the dealer I guess. The Camry is such a quiet car that the noise is really irritating in an otherwise quiet interior. Other than this noise, the car is great! Just a little bummed because my 2005 has zero rattles or noises and my gf's old 2009 also had no rattles or noises. The 2015 refresh is nice, though we're still on the fence about the front grille. My relative is waiting for the 2016's to be released later this year and then he will be buying one for his patrol car. The 2015 isn't a full redesign but it looks different enough that he wants to wait for the next MY to come out. He's dreading leaving behind his 5MT Civic but it needs to be replaced. He hasn't had an auto, ever, come to think of it..

I have an 2005 VW Touareg. I purchased it 1 month ago with 8919 miles on it. I love the thing! However I have a rattle coming from the part that is below the passenger dash. The good thing is it only rattles when i hit a big bump, however when u pay 30k + this is the last thing you want to hear. See Pic. How to remove this black panel so i may fix it? Dealer was no luck the typical "I didn't hear any rattles" ....
View 1 RepliesHaving issue with body squeaking ? . I am getting a squeaking sound coming from around the passenger rear door /body area of my 2010 Passat. Car has 10K miles and has been doing this since around 6K miles. Not noticeable unless going over uneven pavement or railroad tracks but it is annoying. Never had any body squeaks from a new car lite this. Have not been to the dealer with this issue yet.
View 6 RepliesOk this just started and it has to do with brakes in a way----the Noise is the sound of when you are deflating a balloon (the squeaking sound). Its under the dash area and I can make it do it if I press on the brake pedal and let off it will make the squealing sound. Some times it will do it on its own just driving along without even hitting the breaks, but when it DOES start doing it I can make it do the noise constantly pushing the brake pedal down and then letting off!!!

It almost sounds like an AC compressor issue (had the same problem with my F-250) but there is also an accompanying "gurgling" sound as well. AC problems with the Gen 2 after 160,000 miles?

I hear it pretty regularly, it doesn't sound *bad* or *wrong*, it is just a really curious sound. Very mechanical in nature, sounds like a small hydraulic or air supply line, almost like a little relief valve. There's no whoosh of air, just kind of a really faint whistle, but very mechanized.
View 24 RepliesI've taken my Camry in several times (service and warranty issues). One of the issues was a squeaking noise coming from the sunroof area. It was driving me crazy especially with the weather changing it was a lot more noticeable. I took it in and they said they fixed the problem by adding insulation to the roof. Well, the noise was still there. I took it again today and the Master Technician came out and wanted me to show him what I was talking about.
We went for a short ride around the dealer parking lot. He heard the noise and told me to drive to the detailing area. He then proceeded to get a paper towel with some cleaner and wiped the metal opening around the sunroof area and the black seal on the sunroof. He then got another paper towel and put some sort of lubricant and voila the squeaking noise is gone! I keep my car very clean and wipe down the sunroof area every time I wash my car. He said to go ahead and put some type of protectant (Meguiars) so it keeps the rubber moist.
I thought it was something serious with my sunroof turned out to be a very simple applying of protectant to a piece of rubber.
I'm hearing something that sounds like a squeaky hamster wheel sound from the front passenger footwell area. It often sounds like there's a trickling sound as well. What's wrong - is this normal? (Its fairly loud at times). It seems to correlate with cold weather.
View 7 RepliesGurgling/percolating sounds, car started making a few weeks ago. The sound is coming from deep inside our front dash area. We do plan on bringing it to our local VW dealers attention at next scheduled oil change. I started getting this noise as well about a month ago. My passengers commented about sounding like someone sawing inside the dashboard. I do like the percolating description better...
This is different than the other "running water" sound that you get when initially turning the car on. I was told that was normal.... This percolating sound happens while driving and I noticed that it does have the pattern of happening when at slow speeds or stopped in traffic (after driving fast for a while).
Where another 09 owner had what he thought was a cold weather related squeak coming from the passenger side dash / windshield area. Mine does this and it's highly annoying. Here's what I've observed:
- seems to happen in cold temps, though I can't say what "cold" is...<40F perhaps?
- noticeable over bumps or whenever the car frame twists as a result of uneven road surface
- source seems to be the dash / windshield interface on the passenger side
- it's *possible* it may be coming from the top of the windshield as well
- it's very noticeable and highly irritating
Either with an 09 or earlier model? I cut a pool noodle and shoved it down between the glass and dash hoping the pressure would relieve whatever is rubbing. It appeared to work until the temps dropped into the 20s. Then it returned. I have a 2009 GLS, 5MT Sonata.
What is causing this strange noise. I have an old 1998 Subaru Impreza that runs well but has this mystery squeaking noise coming from the area near the front left of the car. It seems to happen most on cold, dry days, and I can hear it when the car shakes, but only when it is driving, never at rest. I can usually make the noise if I let up on the gas while still in gear, and it happens sometimes while going over bumps, but typically only if the bump only affects one side of the car. If I am accelerating quickly or braking, the noise usually doesn't happen. It also usually only happens when I am in gear and have the gas pedal pressed, but it can still happens on bumps even if the car is in neutral, the noise is usually much quieter if the car isn't in gear.
I can't tell if the noise is coming from inside or outside of the car, but it seems to be louder inside and I can't hear anything from outside when driving through a parking garage with my windows down.Now this noise first appeared a few days after I got my clutch plate, fly wheel and axles replaced several months ago but I haven't been able to find anything on my own and the shop said they didn't see anything that could be causing it.I have included a recording I took while driving, if you listen its the high pitched squeaking. So far the only thing I have done is checked the sway bar and bushings and those are all in good condition and covered in lube.
I have a 2009 Tiguan 2.0t 4 motion and recently has started having a very high pitched squealing noise coming from either the accessory belt area or the timing chain. The noise is constant until you are under acceleration and then it goes away. The CEL came on but when scanned it said no codes. and now sometimes the CEL will flash and the car has been idling rough. What it may be?

It sounds as though I have a relay in the relay panel behind the headlight switch clicking on and off while I am driving. I searched the archives a bit and through my own reasoning, I figured it is not related to the hazard switch or turn signal stock ( I could be wrong though).
Description: It only clicks while I have my foot on the accelerator and the car is in motion, never other wise. It is not dependent on throttle location; it clicks the same way regardless of where the throttle is as long as it's being pressed. The clicking stops completely when the throttle is not being pressed.
Because of this, I am unable to locate the exact relay that is making the noise as it is impossible for me to open the door and look at the relay panel while driving. The clicking is some what erratic; It will click, pause for 2-4seconds click again then wait anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds and repeat. It's driving me nuts. Evap? Is this normal? Can it be stopped?
I have a rather annoying high pitched tone coming from the front passengers side widow/mirror area. The dealer says it's normal wind noise from the mirror and can't do anything about it. I think they are just being lazy, and I think it's actually a window seal issue.
Here are more details; I hear the noise typically only at speeds above 60-65mph, although I have heard it as low as 40mph, but was driving into a head wind (so the combined air speed was about the same). It is a high-pitched, high-frequency noise that almost sounds like a continuous tone. It is loud enough to be annoying even with the radio on at moderate volume. It will disappear completely at speeds lower than mentioned above. It is localized only to that one side. The drivers side mirror/window is silent (for this issue at least) no matter what speed I am going.
A recent road trip gave enough frustration on this issue to make me begin experimenting. I taped up various mirror seams in a number of configurations and none alleviated the noise. At one point I rolled down the window about an inch to see If I could hear it more clearly from the window. The noise disappeared but I thought the turbulent wind noise at that speed might be masking it. So I rolled the window up and then just *tapped* the switch down the slightest amount and to my surprise the high-pitched noise disappeared completely, yet I did not open it enough to hear regular wind noise. This all leads me to highly suspect a window seal issue, and not mirror noise at all. Cracking the seal so slightly must allow the pressure to equalize canceling out the noise.
When I took it in for the issue they say (of course) "Can not replicate, wind noise from mirror within factory spec, no action taken" and something about cracking the window "re-aligns the flow over the mirror into the cabin reducing the noise" sounds because the drivers side is as silent as the grave, and the mirrors are symmetrical to my knowledge.
I recognize the odds of isolating this is low, but thought I'd try. I have been hearing a a very subtle (but noticeable) noise coming from within the dash area of my 2002 Passat (mostly near the glove box side, but also in the middle area). Noise occurs when the ignition is turned on - with or with out the engine running. It can be heard while driving, but is more noticeable when I turn the HVAC fan to off. The sound is random, and seems to be like a relay dithering, an intermittent buzzer or a fan noise (although no fan is on.) It sort of sounds like a cell phone vibrating randomly in the glove box.
View 2 RepliesRecently (last three months really), I've been noticing an oscillating squeaking noise coming from the passenger side of the dashboard on my '07 LS460. I've troubleshot the problem and have it isolated to coming on only when the A/C is turned on (recirculated or outside air- doesn't matter). When the A/C is off, the sound goes away.
No other squeaking noises at all coming from anywhere else on the car.
I have a sneaking suspicion it's related to the tensioner belt connected to the Air Conditioner, but I'm honestly not sure at all.
Might this be a more relatively simple belt issue? A/C is running pretty much all the time when the car is on- wouldn't be surprised at all if we've simply worn the belt through.

Just picked up my BMP R32 last week. The car is MINT, only 25k on her, seriously probably one of the cleanest, stock mkiv r32's left. I got every single service record since brand new, all done by a Volkswagen dealer.
Only problem is, a knocking noise has just started to develop, coming from the front passenger area somewhere. It is only noticeable when I brake or let off the gas after accelerating, but definitely more noticeable when braking. At first I thought it was something rolling around in the door, but now it seems clearly suspension related, or a loose bolt or something?

We have an 07 Prius with around 150,000 miles on it.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight knocking noise coming from the passenger front wheel area mainly when I was turning toward the right.
Question.......So when turning to the right, it first seemed to me that the right side would experience a heavier load. However, after further thought and applying some physics the inertia of the car would actually be putting a heavier load on the left side during a right turn. Which is correct?
Just trying to troubleshoot the noise/problem.
#1 when I apply the brakes, the noise doesn't change. I don't think it's brake related.
#2 the noise speeds up with speed, meaning that it's rotational.
#3 The noise does get louder when I am turning right but has know progressed into a constant noise going straight. During a left turn it subsided.
#4 I did take my floor jake and jaked the pass. front wheel up but didn't see anything broken or damaged. I couldn't rotate the tire though.
#5 I also had the tires rotated today and the noise got worse.
2010 Matrix XR, car drives great except while driving off of parking lot going slow over bumps I hear a bit of rattling noise coming what seems like the driver side dash area... it almost feels like its coming perhaps from the steering wheel but the steering wheel feels very tight with no play at all.. Other than that it's all good can not hear anything wrong driving on a smooth road or a highway...
