Touareg :: Slight Whistle When Air Conditioning Is Turned On

Aug 29, 2005

My 05 V8 has developed a slight whistle when the air conditioning is turned on and the fan speed is high. This only seems to happen when the system is taking in outside air. If it is recirculate mode, the whistle goes away. It also goes away if you manually turn the fan speed down. My assumption is that something may be caught in the intake.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Slight Whistle At Certain RPMs / Noisy When Temp Turned Cold

I have a '13 6.2 with 11k on it and it's started making a weird noise since the temp has turned cold. At first I noticed a slight whistle at certain rpm's but the temps were around 0 so I didn't think too much of it since stuff gets noisy the colder it gets. Today the temps were in the upper teens and I'm noticing a new sound. From around 1000-1500rpm I'm getting a whining sound that is noticeable in the cab. It's coming form the engine since it does it while sitting and I can make the sound appear by getting the engine at the correct speed. It's louder when the engine is cold but I can still notice it a bit after the engine is at operating temps. Below 1000 and above 1500 rpm there is no noise. I never really noticed it before, but since I heard the slight whining last week I've been listening more and I know that's when you start hearing noises that you normally wouldn't pay attention to.

Golf IV R32 :: Slight Whistle Developed Which Is RPM Dependent

I have a new sound. I recently swapped my coolant and thermostat. After that a slight whistle has developed. It seems like it is RPM dependent, it hasnt gotten any worse after a solid 400 miles of driving, but it also hasn't gotten any worse. It sounds like if someone has slightly blowing into a whistle, but not all the way. What it could be?

Touareg :: Air Conditioning Blows Hot Air When Outside Temp Above 88

The AC blows very cold as long as the outside temp is 88-87 and cooler. As soon as it goes over 89 or so, the air rapidly warms eventually blowing what feels like air HOTTER than the outside ambient. No matter if i shut it down or blow warm air it will not restart until the temperature outside drops below the magic mark (so i dont think the coil is freezing over)... and then it blows frigid air. I don't think it is low refrigerant because of the efficiency at cooler temps and the nearly exact outside temp it changes. It is as if a sensor is activated and nothing but a temperature drop changes its status. It is so predictable that to me it sounds like a sensor or kill switch that is activated. One fan was out. had it replaced and still have the problem. This has been going on all summer and VW stamps everything "could not replicate". 2004 touareg vs 80k miles (with plenty of troubles along the way)....

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Slight Whistle Sound - Engine Management Light Started To Flash

Earlier today on a easy drive (not pushing it) I noticed a slight "whistle-sound" that I haven't noticed before. About then it became VERY sluggish and the Engine Management Light started to flash.

As soon as I could I pulled over and connected my AL619 and it says "to low turbo/supercharger flow".

I didn't notice any smoke or smell, just a serious lack of power (i was doing 30km/h at the top of the hill).

Just tried to locate the leak, but I cant feel it or see it. I guess one would need one of those "smoke generators" to see where the pressure goes out.

So, do I have a broken turbo, or just a blown turbo pipe/tube?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Slight Whistle Coming From Front Left Hub

I noticed a slight whistle last year coming from my front left hub. I pulled the hub and greased the gears as best I could and it sort of went away. Now this year it is a little louder. It only happens when the hub is locked. Is starts around 20mph and goes away at 40. Is the bearing in the hub shot or is this normal. 4x4 works fine and there is no visible excess wear on the gears. The truck has 93k.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Slight Whistle / Squeal When Boosting And When Letting Off On Pedal

Are they known to cause any noise? VGT Solenoid.

I have recently developed a slight whistle/squeal when boosting and when letting off on the pedal. I initially thought I had a CAC boot starting to split out, but since it's making the noise when I let off as well I doubt that the problem.

It isn't constant, and only does it for a second or two when it happens. It's not extremely loud, just loud enough to make you wonder what the heck it is...

Mercedes :: High Pitched Whistle That Gets Loud And Then Slowly Tapers Off When Heater Turned On

My wife loves her Mercedes 1999 320CLK. Low mileage (120,000), excellent interior and body condition. One problem. When she turns on the heater there is a very high pitched whistle that gets loud and then slowly tapers off. This repeats from time to time. Randomly there is a sound like a flap/door slamming shut. All sound comes from behind the dash. Also, from the dash behind the steering wheel area you hear a sound kind of like someone squeezing a plastic water bottle - plastic crackling sound. Our mechanic took a look at this and told us that some sort of hose was loose. It was reconnected and things got better for a little while....now its back. Once in a while this happens with the AC.

Subaru - Outback :: 2002 - Metal On Metal Rattle With A Very Slight High Pitched Whistle

Yesterday, I noticed a rattling sound coming from the entire car a 2002 subaru outback 2.5l 4 cylander (it seems a bit louder on the passenger side but it literally can be heard throughout the car). I was on the expressway and got off and stopped at a red light when the check engine light came on and started to flash and the rpm's dropped rapidly and the needle began to bounce up and down. I pulled into a gas station to check it out more and popped the hood to find that when the car is rattling it is also shaking and rocking the engine of the car from side to side slightly.

When I'm idling the rpm's drop and the car feels like it is going to stall out. Then, as I accelerate, the rpm's barely go above 2000 and jump up quickly between 3000 & 4000. It sounds like a metal on metal rattle with a very slight high pitched whistle and you can hear a fan kick on and the engine try to keep the rpm's up every couple of seconds when the car is stopped. I had the timing belts replaced 2 years ago and it sounds very similar to how it did when they needed to be changed, however, the engine never felt like it was going to stall until yesterday.

When idling the noise gets louder and when accelerating it can still be heard but barely. Also, the rattling has caused the entire car to vibrate all of the time. I noticed yesterday that the oil was low and topped it off, but I don't think that would cause such a hige issue so quickly. When I go uphill, i have a good amount of power but every 30 second or so the car shifts and the rpm's jump lurching the car forward because of the surge of power. Also, when I hit the brakes, my rpm's jump slightly to about halfway above the 1 but the engine does not accelerate.

Touareg :: Soft Click-then-whistle Coming From Dash Area After Startup

Heard this really soft click-then-whistle coming from the dash area, usually shortly after starting the car? I hear it pretty regularly, it doesn't sound *bad* or *wrong*, it is just a really curious sound. Very mechanical in nature, sounds like a small hydraulic or air supply line, almost like a little relief valve. There's no whoosh of air, just kind of a really faint whistle, but very mechanized.

Touareg :: V8 - Slight Vibration While Stationary?

I thought it was just my imagination but I have since noticed a slight vibration in the car while I am stopped at a stoplights. This problem is intermittent, and not caused by sitting on a bridge or other roadway that can move. I can sit at a stoplight and turn off the Climate Control, it still vibrates. The RPMs are constant, nothing seems to be wrong other than the vibrations. The radio will be off (I turn off the techno). It looks like Jurassic Park when there is a water bottle in my cupholder. The vibration is steady in both intensity and frequency, and will not go away on its own once I notice it while stopped. The problem is pretty intermittent and I have been unable to reproduce it for a service tech.

V8 w/ 8k miles.

Touareg :: Slight Vibrations Over 80km/h

So i got V6 3.2 with air suspension, when i purchased the car there was TONS of vibrations in the steering wheel and i could feel it also in the seats, but i knew this was unbalanced tires and stuff so i made a deal with dealer that they should fix vibrations. They balanced tires and thing went away but not completely. Over 80km/h i get very very little vibrations in the seats, i can feel it in my legs and a bit in the steering wheel. I have Nokian tires (those that are recommended for touareg, forgot the model) and they are pretty worn out but nothing to be concerned about, i took a look and they seem to be worn out pretty even, dont think there is alignment problem. What else could we look at?

I put on Cayenne 19" wheels with the high performance tires during my 5K checkup. After 4k more miles I noticed a slight vibration above 60mph, which normally indicates an alignment problem. As I never hit a large pothole or curb, I took it to my VW dealer, (VW of Springfield, VA). They managed to get VW to pay for the alignment, as my it was off when checked. Nice!!! My VIN # was 13,9xx.

04 Touareg VR6 7k miles. Noticed a slight engine knock when driving very slowly such as through a parking lot when you vary engine speed between 1500 and 2000 rpm? Touareg :: Homelink Won't Work Unless Car Turned On?

Ever notice that the Homelink won't work unless the car is turned on? Not very useful for putting the garage door up and down as you don't want the car running BEFORE you put the door up. I had two other cars with Homelink and both worked at all times. If VW can make the radio work all the time they could certainly do the same with the Homelink controls.
