Having problems with the side mirror vibrating at 75 MPH? My driver's side mirror vibrates at highway speeds. When I brought my SUV to the dealership they said that the mirror is as tight as it can be.
View 2 RepliesI have an 05 Passat TDI and I'm getting a vibrating noise, almost like a radio with too much base. It was mostly in the passenger mirror but now I'm hearing it from the drivers side too. It happens @ about 40mph without radio on and I can also hear the sound if I turn on a song with a lot of base to it.
View 1 RepliesI have an 08 camry v6 with 29500 miles, I've noticed 3 issues that are happening at this point.
1. When I hit 70 mph the steering wheel shakes, I had new tires installed at 25K and smooth braking. The shaking also goes away if I go above 85 mph.
2. I have two plastic Dashboard screws under the black cover that rests around the dash that keep falling out and I cant tighten them back in.
3. My drivers side mirror is vibrating when I start to drive at idle it's fine.
Other than that the car drives great..
Does the base model have the passenger side tilt mirror option when you select reverse. I have read that it is standard equipment and I know that the mirror selector has to be in the right position, but it doesn't seem to work. Are there any procedures on doing this?
View 24 RepliesAfter discovering my wood cracking on the doors, for some reason I decided to look at the passenger side mirror, which used to, repeat, used to go down in reverse. It no longer does. Don't tell me this is first model year shakedown problems. All of the problems on this board signal a car that was put together very sloppily, with absolutely no quality control.
View 9 RepliesWe ran the side mirror into a tall trash can. I replaced the mirror but need to replace the blinker assembly that is in the bottom of the mirror. I bought it and can't see how to take mirror apart to put it in.
View 3 RepliesProblems with the passenger side automatic mirror sticking in the down position (position it assumes when Touareg transmission is put into reverse). I have had my Touareg for about 1 week and the mirror does not return to the regular position when I place the transmission in drive.

I picked up my car after 10K service at the local dealer. I get in the car, put tranny in reverse and started driving. Then I noticed that my right mirror is off. So I got out of dealer parking and stopped. Then I looked at the mirror and it was perfectly aligned!
I heard that this feature (mirrors will adjust when you drive in reverse) in Mercedes and some other cars, but nort VW. I was wrong. My Treg has the same feature. The only trick is that your mirror switch in the cabin should be turned to right, like when you try to adjust right passenger mirror. That's it.
Every time you will switch to reverse, you right passenger mirror will turn 30 or more degree down. I was very surprised and pleased that VW has that little feature.

I have a 2008 touareg 2 V8. When we first got the truck everything was fine.. In the last month or so the driver's side mirror seems to be humming or buzzing at 50-70mph (80-120km/h)... If I fold the mirrors it goes away... Cross wind will make it louder, also it is intermittent... Maybe it's resonance?

View 2 RepliesFirstly, when i put my car in reverse, my passenger side view mirror does not automatically tilt. is there some sort of setting i must go to?
Secondly, I was wondering if it was possible to AUTOMATICALLY fold the side view mirror when i off the engine, or lock the doors, and for them to automatically unfold when i start the engine or unlock the doors! Instead of manually turning the knob.
I went into the Menu, and there was an option under "locks .... ---> mirrors", and i selected sync. Does that have anything to do with my question?
Thirdly, The rain sensing wipers. I have to activate this by pulling the lever up ONE STEP to the intermittent mode right. I tested the rain sensing wipers with a bottle of water! and the sensor is at the rear view mirror. The question is that when i off the engine and leave the rain wipers under Mode ONE (one step up the lever from off) the car doesn't automatically activate the wipers if it rains. I have to push it down to off! then back to INTERMITTENT MODE! Is this normal?
Cracked the lens on the turn signal of the passenger side sideview mirror. Can I get a replacement lens? How to replace? I need to replace the whole mirror.

View 1 RepliesI saw there was a service bulletin for this problem but could not access the bulletin. What can I do to tighten this mirror up.It does not have a screw just a clip. I tried bending the clip but no dice. Can I wedge something in there to tighten it up? This is the one on the windshield.

I snapped in the new mirror and everything works properly, but the mirror vibrates so badly you can't see. Somewhere there was mention of a clip to dampen vibration.

Whenever I'm turning (left or right) and moving at a very slow speed (1 - 5mph), I feel a binding and sometimes I hear a slipping sound (that's the best that I can describe it). When I hear this sound, it feels like the Touareg's gears or center differential is slipping. What it is? If so, was the dealer able to resolve it quickly?
View 5 RepliesWhen I turn my AC to max. power (fan) the steering wheel and the entire dash board starts shaking and vibrating. Also one can hear a "deep" humming noise which seems to be coming form the fan/fans belt etc.
View 9 RepliesSo I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!
On my V6 2004 (just hit 120,000 kms, just changed the oils 2 weeks ago) I was driving on the hiway yesterday, when the whole vehicle started shaking and vibrating - engine light blinked a few times, then stayed ON solid.
I could reduce the shaking by letting go on the throttle pedal, so I stopped and checked, nothing obvious, oil level good etc. I could hear some sort of clunking noise when engine was revved up.
