Touareg :: Seems Back Seat Speakers Sound Low
Nov 13, 2003
Try setting your fader entirely to the back speakers and tell me if the sound coming out is at all full/complete. I can hardly hear anything coming from the back.

View 24 RepliesI collapsed the rear seats this morning, loaded the Treg up with stuff (nothing too heavy) and drove 200 miles. Got home, unloaded stuff and then tried to put the seats back up. The center seat belt is integrated into the passenger side 60% folding seat. But for some reason it's now "locked" as the belts do when the car is in an accident.
Since the belt is tight as it is in the lowered position, it will not allow me to lift up the back portion of the seat. After looking at it in the somewhat narrow view I have from between the floor and the lowered back rest, I can see that when I try to lift the back rest, the belt needs to slack some to allow the seat back to go all the way up. But since it catches, it only allow the seat back to raise about 6" before it's too tight to raise the seat back anymore.
I looked at the mounting bolts for the bottom portion of the belt in the space I can see and I see a 12 point star pattern bolt (not sure of proper name). With my Passat, I was able to find a suitable allen wrench that fits in the 12 point star pattern bolt that controls the back door catch for adjustment purposes. But with this one, I tried both metric and SAE and neither has a close enough match.
The belt locking mechanism allows for about 1" of belt travel before it locks. I've jiggled with the belt trying to get the mechanism to unlock so I don't have to remove the belt anchor point on the floor of the car (which I don't have the right wrench for). Anything I can do with the belt? Or do I just go after getting the right wrench and undoing the anchor to allow more belt slack to reset the belt?
I just bought an 05' Touareg a month ago, and already put 6,000+ miles on it (drove it to CO from PA, and back for a snowboarding trip), and im loving it.The CD player already stopped working (already being replaced), but the thing that is driving me nuts is the front seats, ESPECIALLY the driver seat.
I am 5'8" and prefer to have it at the highest adjustment (again, manual seats), or near the top at least. However, i have to put it all the way up just to know if its where i left it because it keeps SINKING back down. It averages about 1 pump per day, and more if I'm driving it a lot (because there is more weight on it). I took it to the dealer and they cannot reproduce it because they are only willing to wait around for an hour. I am going to have to leave it overnight, untouched, for a few nights just to prove it to them... which sucks because I shouldn't have to. I am not imagining things, and why would i make this up.
I hadn't adjusted it back up in a few days, and it took 10 pumps to get it back to the top where i put it in the first place! I am the only one that drives it, and no, someone isnt playing tricks on me. However, I hope not because my worst fear is that they replace it, and that its just a bad design and it still does it. EVEN MY PASSENGER SIDE SEAT DOES IT! just not as bad, or maybe it does I just don't know because I am not using it (driving of course). That is a weird coincidence if you ask me... so I am worried its just a poor rachet design. If so, I am not leaving there til i get electronic seats. I already have the service manager involved because the service rep tells me he doesn't know what to fix. Again, these are manual seats, not electronic... so its nothing to do with those memory buttons you electronic guys have.
Didn't have time to break out the digital camera, but what the two black painted bars set into the back of the rear seat are?? Doesn't appear to be part of the locking mechanism, but I'm uncertain.
View 2 RepliesLeak in the passenger door that blows cold air on the unsuspecting front seat passenger that is intended for the back seat door frame vents? I say 'the' leak because we checked other Tregs at the dealer with similar gaps between the door and gasket on the passenger side.
View 1 RepliesIs there any way to disable the driver seat from moving all the way back when the ignition is switched off and the door is opened? The seat being all the way back makes it much more difficult to get my son in and out of his child seat in the back. Also, I'm not obese nor do I have mobility problems so the seat moving out of the way is a complete waste for me!
View 7 RepliesMy passenger seat will recline but will not move back upright. All other seat electrics work fine just cannot get the seat to move upwards anymore.
VW Touareg 2007 V6 passenger electric seat problem....
When you have the key in the ignition and have it so the steering wheels moves up and outta the way too? My seats sounds like 3-5 seconds of some serious farting action. Not good when on the phone and someone asks, "whats was that?" I am sure its the leather rubbing on the side of the console, but god damn will it ever stop!? Only 5K on the touareg, so maybe it will go away sooner or later...
View 9 RepliesI heard a fan sound coming from the back seat after driving in traffic for 45 minutes. It was coming from the vent in the back seat. I didn't know that that vent had an electric fan. I assume it was the battery being cooled. I have never heard this sound before.
View 5 RepliesGot my Prius v 5 in June and since then, there is the most obnoxious rattle coming from the back seat (passenger side). It's intermittent, depending on who's in the car with me. When I'm alone, it happens about 80% of the time. When my kids are in the car, it depends on which one and what seat they choose.
I've taken it to Toyota twice, and they're unable to detect the problem. I'm convinced that this is because the weight distribution is difficult to replicate. It is seriously making me crazy and I'm ready to turn the car in and get another (NOT a Toyota).
2008 r32. First time i opened it up on the highway, noticed a weird electronic whine under the back seat as soon as we slowed down that wont go away. It changes pitch when you shift and sounds like a weird electronic sys trying to mimic an exhaust leak. Id think fuel pump, but seems louder on the left side (fuel flap on right). Since i talked her into it and i apparently caused this noise, shes gonna kick my ass if I don't fix it. Its somewhat warrantied, so toss out whatever, I am not scared to go to the dealer with 500 things i want them to look at, but i need to know if their diagnosis is correct or total crap. Ive never dealt w 4motion (its incredible) and my newest dub is also a vr6, but its a 92.
View 5 RepliesConfirmed it today. Not hearing things. A very low bass like hum when the car goes over 80. Wind noise of transmission binding. What the transmission binding sounds like? Would it happen if the car was just going straight ahead with no turns?
View 5 RepliesAm I still the only one with an irritating scrunchy sound coming from the left bolster of the driver's seat back?
When the temperature is above 0 Celsius the bolster makes a scrunchy squeak every time I lean back, accelerate, or take off from a stop.
It would appear to be the supplemental air bag material rubbing against the foam or upholstery of the seat.
Toyota says this should be under warranty, but it has been too cold out lately to demonstrate to the service dept.
I know that I could fix it by removing the factory seat cover and tweaking the air bag placement somewhat, but this is not as easy as it sounds, potentially dangerous, and if it is under warranty, I'd prefer the "experts" to address the problem.
How to disable the seat belt warning sound and or the passenger side airbag warning sound?
View 7 RepliesWhen I back up the T-egg and at the same time I press the brake to control the speed. I hear a strange sound coming from the rear brake. Something like I hit something. How often? I would say, always. I went to the dealer 2 months ago and could not duplicate at that time.
View 8 RepliesI have been having two issues.
1.) Everytime I go to back up in my car the whole car starts shaking back in forth like someone is at the front and back rocking it.
2.) After my car has been driven around for a bit and I return to campus to look for parking spaces sometimes I have to back up because there aren't any. Whenever I go to back up, it makes this loud sound like a bat hitting a metal pole and it can be felt throughout the car. It does it all the time now.
I am beginnning to get scared to take this thing offroading. Also whenever I shift from P to R it makes this loud THUNK sound. I am going to let the dealer look at it when I take it in for the 10K service.
Driver side rear seat speakers are not working. Are they on a fuse? Haven't had time to look over the owner's manual. If not fused what else could be happening?
View 4 RepliesI have spilt some coke into my shifter and it dried. Now when I shift to Drive or back to Park it makes this crackling sound and sometimes gets stuck. How to take the P-R-N-D-S cover off so I can clean?
View 1 RepliesThe headrest of back seat will bend over when fold down the seat. But one of the headrests can't go back to original up position. The dealer has adjusted the cable but this just temporarily fixed the problem. The problem is back again. I will go back to dealer but can they really fix it? Should I ask for a replacement of the whole seat?
View 1 RepliesI am rocking an 09 Tiguan which unfortunately is out of warranty. Last night while listening to music my back two speakers quit working and still aren't working. I don't see how I could have blown them both at the same time, my volume was only at 16.
View 14 RepliesI recently started to have problem with my back window panel where large speakers at. It makes a lot of noise whenever even the slightest base is on.When I push it down it stops. I never put anything there. My assumption is that is finally shrunk during hot summer days and now loos and there for makes that noise.
