Touareg :: Seat Return Is Not Working / Remains In Set Position
Mar 1, 2005
My exit seating position was working great up until this morning. The seat remains in set position. Am I missing something or is it to the dealer I go.

View 5 RepliesI am having a problem with my rental passat, its a 2013 with 860miles and the seat lever that makes the seat recline broke and now the seat wont return to normal sitting position, its laid out almost flat. How to fix this? I am guessing there is a wire in there somewhere that will release it ...
View 1 RepliesOK, this happened again. Driving along, try to change from drive to sport, gear lever button (silver on side of gear lever) remains in the depressed position. Can't get our of Drive or Neutral. If you switch the car off it will never start again!! I call McDonald Automotive in Denver and then drive all the way from Breckenridge with the car stuck in Drive making sure I would never get into a position where I would have to reverse. Also the key is locked into the ignition. McDonald has a loaner waiting for me. However, this seems like it could potentially be a dangerous flaw in the gear lever mechanism. It is very unnerving, almost like you cannot stop the car under certain circumstances (even though you can put your brakes on and stop and you can put it in Neutral, but you cannot switch the car off).
View 5 RepliesI've noticed over the last few days that my seat position memory is gone. I thought maybe it was because i was using a different key, but that is not the case. I tried resetting buttons 1, 2, and 3, and neither set my seat to the position i specified. Button 1 is the only one that works, but it puts the seat all the way forward. Is my comfort module shot??? brand new car.
View 2 RepliesI noticed this problem day as I was out and about, as I come out of a medium to hard turn (at least one wheel rotation) my wheel doesn't want to return fully to the center position. The wheel starts to slow down about half a turn in either position and I need to get it around the quarter turn position. I don't have to force it much, it feels more turning the wheel while in park.
I has winter tires put on in December and the mechanic told me they couldn't do an alignment because one of my rear coils was broken (planning on getting that fixed myself once I get a weekend where it's not at or below 0 outside) and my front ball-joints (I think that's what they said) was loose and that the front joint didn't need to be looked at immediately, but by spring should be replaced.
That front joint is what's giving me problems? Or is it something else?
Today, I just picked up my 2014 prius. Basically, when I do a right/left turn on the car, when accelerating out of the turn, the steering wheel does not fully return to the center position (its approximately in the one/eleven o'clock position). Also, if I leave the wheel straight, and drive straight, the car will drive straight and not pull towards the side so I don't think its an alignment issue. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if its happening just because they car is new or just because I'm not accelerating hard enough out of the turn (I always stayed in the eco range with the HSI. )
View 5 RepliesWhen I turn off the wiper blades on my 1997 Toyota Camry they do not return to the home or lowest position. They stop at whatever spot they happen to be. The wipers work OK on both slow speed and fast speed. Also the intermittent function is no longer working. In this position the wiper blades operate cintinually in the slow speed. What could be the causing this problem? Could it be the wiper switch on the steering column, the wiper motor, or some other component such as a fuse or relay?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 Sante Fe AWD: What it means when the battery and seat belt lights flash on the dashboard while driving? The headlights also dim slightly and sporadically as if there is a huge load on the system. No noticeably pull or drag while driving.
View 5 RepliesThe headrest of back seat will bend over when fold down the seat. But one of the headrests can't go back to original up position. The dealer has adjusted the cable but this just temporarily fixed the problem. The problem is back again. I will go back to dealer but can they really fix it? Should I ask for a replacement of the whole seat?
View 1 RepliesMy compass is on all the time and DRL are "off". I just noticed that the compass light dims as soon as I turn the headlights on and gets bright when they are off!!!
View 2 RepliesI have an 03 f250 6.0 150k milage and lately my A/C has not been working at its best. Its intermittent, and for some reason it will work fine until i get on the highway and it just blows hot air. Would this be a leak or clutch issue? One thing I have noticed if my oil/coolant is above 200 the A/C will blow hot air but not return to cold when the temperatures return to normal. I haven't done any trouble shooting so my first thing ill check are the fuses. As far as the compressor goes its an alien object to me I have never had A/C issues with any vehicle i have owned.
View 6 RepliesI folded my back seat down, now it will not lock into the up position! I inspected the locking mechanism and it doesn't appear to have anything wedge in there.
View 4 RepliesThe passenger side 3rd row seat is stuck in the down position. The driver side lifted and locked in place just fine, but when I pull the release lever on the passenger side the outer part releases but center portion won't budge at all.
I've tried everything I can, which isn't much other than pulling and grunting at the same time (usually works for me )Critical because I need to set the 3rd row up in order to reach the bolt holding the 2nd row seat so they can be removed so I can access the fuel covers in order to replace the faulty fuel sensors so my gas gauge will work.
I have a rattle coming from the third row seats when they are in the stored position. It is mainly when I hit rough roads and uneven terrain.
View 7 RepliesDriving down the street use brakes to stop slam into steering wheel. Hmmm pretty sure that's a problem..seat won't lock in position now. I have looked at it and cant figure it out. Something is broke or not working I'm just not sure what. I would weld it in position but others much shorter than I drive it too.
View 5 RepliesThe larger (60) side of my 2005 Sienna's third row seat is stuck in the "up" position. That is: the seat back will fold down, but the seat will not release from the floor in order to fold down into the well at the back of the vehicle.
The pull tab on the back of the seat that releases it moves in and out too easily. I viewed the mechanism under the seat and it appears that the pull tab is linked to a cable which rotates an armature, which in turn pulls one cable for each leg of the seat to release it. It looks like the cable connected to the pull tab is properly rotating the armature, but the legs aren't releasing. I can't tell for sure but it seems like the armature is rotated into the "release" position but it hasn't released the legs. I've crawled under the seat and tried my best to rotate the armature with my hands and a pair of pliers to no avail.
I was thinking my next step would be to try to rotate the armature with a little gentle persuasion (e.g. a hammer and a screwdriver or piece of wood).
On my LS 600 HL- there are two buttons on the rear door handle. One is C and other is M.
One lights up, when pressed. What is the function of each?
I would prefer to leave the back seats in reclined position permanently but I find that they go back to erect position often (I didn't particularly test this function). What is the function of the C and M buttons?
I picked up our ("our" means my wifes) GX last Friday. I'm a sports car and sports sedan guy. But I love buying vehicles, and I a huge car nut. It's a heck of a nice Luxury SUV with a lot of nice features.
One question so far. The web site specifically says the passenger seat position can be saved to the memory, but for the life of me I don't see how. Can it?
Need to locate the fuse for the power seats in an 07 Toyota Avalon. The seat has been stuck in an uncomfortable position for a while. Id like to check the fuse before removing the entire seat to look at the motor. Dealer wants $200 for this info.
View 1 RepliesThe "60" portion of my 60/40 rear seat will not go back to the regular seat back position. I have been told by a local VW dealership that the center seat belt mechinism is locked and is preventing the seat back from going back up.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2012 2-door R with sunroof and navigation. Almost from the very beginning the driver's seat had a problem. It would not hold the position of the back. It would slowly keep going back. Over a couple of days of driving (less than 2 hours per day) I would have to adjust the back about a 1/4 turn of the wheel to get it back to the original position. I have taken it back to the dealer twice for this and they could not find anything obvious.
They said that they would need to take the seat apart in order to figure it out. According to them I am the first one with this issue they have heard of. I am debating if I should keep adjusting it every couple of days, or take the chance and let them take it apart, hoping that there will be no collateral damage in the process. How easy/difficult it is to get to the guts of the seat?
