Touareg :: Removing The Small Bin In The Centre Of The Dash
Jul 3, 2006
Trying to removing / re-fitting the small bin in the centre of the dash. My Australian Treg has the euro-version with the lid but I imagine it is the same to get out as the open-top version. I want to install my own version of a "pop-up nav" system in there.

I recently upgraded from the CD radio to the nav radio and just noticed a problem. My center console speaker (under the windshield) no longer work. All the other speakers work properly.

My ride is 06 Passat v6 4motion. I got 45K on it.
Last night, when I came back home, I could not pull out my key from dash. I tried several times to pull out my key but to fail. So I left my key in the ignition hole and locked my car using spare key. This morning, I tried again but still stuck in dash.
What is worse is that when I arrived dealer shop for that problem, I could pull out my key from dash!

When shutting down/removing the key all doors unlock (not just the driver side - which is the norm in the CC and other previous VWs). Selecting "Drivers Only" via settings only changes the key fob operation. Same for others?

Grandson shoved an ink pen into the center dash vents of our 2007 Camry LE. I removed the vent grille and found out the pen rolled on back and dropped down into the plenum. Now we cannot set the air circulation to defrost. I'm assuming the pen is restricting flap movement. The dealer was not sure the best way to extract the pen - guessing would have to gut the dash with 6 to 8 hours of labor. I'm mechanically inclined and would try the extraction myself, but want to ensure I take the best route and not waste time and effort with an incorrect approach.

VW deciding to remove the engine covers on later build Tregs. Various reasons have been sighted (heat, rattles, hassle for service tech, psychology to have dealer service it). Now I've seen some pics people have posted of their new V10's and voila, the covers have returned.

The connector is near the floor (that's the gas pedal, in the picture). I've slid back the red clip on both, but the connector still will not separate. Is there a trick?

I just bought a (new to me) 2007 RX 350. Love the car. The only problem is that the previous owner had kids and he let them do whatever they wanted inside the car. I got the car detailed and cleaned but I noticed that the centre console doors towards the back don't open and close. When I press the open button it opens ever so slightly and when I press close I can feel that the spring is trying to close the door but nothing happens.

Bought our Impreza January 2015. Not long after, we noticed that the driver's side armrest had deep dimpling, like pock marks, and the arm rest in the centre had a deep indentation across it. Almost as if it had been hit with an axe.
After much complaining by us, Subaru reluctantly agreed to repair the problem areas, and did. Now the problem is back and they are saying that it is our fault. There is nothing wrong on the passenger side and my husband and I both drive the car.

I had a small pin fall out from under the dash today in my 2000 F150 today, I was shifting the truck into park when it came out and hit me in the foot. It is turned down on one end and knurled on the other end. Now the shifter feels sloppy front to back and when at rest in park the shifter is almost against the dash, where I should start to look for this? Or do I just start taking it apart until I find a hole with no pin in it? So far it is still shifting and tight as far as what gear its in but goes way too close to the dash.

2002 F150 5.4... I thought that I saw on here before a link that explained how to replace the heater core without removing the entire dash console. Looking for a link for this or get some good directions on how to replace the heater core?

I have a switch under the dash that Im not quite sure what it does. I have an 07 XLT supercrew. Has the factory alarm I imagine. My brother has the same year, but no switch. Doesn't seem to do anything, tried to trace wires, the seem to join up with some other wires under neath the steering console area.

When the 4x4 switch is moved to 4x4 high, what is the sequence of operation?
I note the 4x4 light on the dash has a small delay. Does the switch engage the transfer case and draw a vacuum to the hubs or does the transfer case engage first and then close a relay to light on the dash and engage the hubs? I have hubs that are not working, but no detectable vacuum leak, a dash signal lit for the 4x4, but a wheel still turning freely. My vacuum hoses are all soft and pliable.
I'm trying to figure out what my dash signal is telling me, if anything, before proceeding. Fuse for transfer case is good.

I have a F350 2000 crew cab srw with 7.3 diesel. I removed the HID that was installed by previous owner. The factory wiring harness was still intact but now I don't have running lights or dash lights. I still have head lights, brake lights and blinkers... I replaced the head light units with factory replacements......

P3000 curr

C1310 curr
C1311 curr
(all 4 of the above have asterixes by them )
B1421 curr (no asterix)
The car is running perfectly and seems to be fine.

I've got a case of dash rattle. I hit a small bump and I hear a small but plasticky rattle sound from (I think) the center of my plasticky dash. IT BUGS ME!
I wonder how I'd be letting the dealer tear apart my dash. The car has been on the road a full 2 months... First new car with dash rattle.

I have a very annoying "check brake light" warning popping up in my dash with a small beep every time I brake. It seems that some of the LEDs are sometimes not illuminated but in a sort of varying configuration. Is this possibly a connector issue? (where are the wires coming from?)
Do I need to replace the LED-bar as a whole or can it be mended in subunits?
When I have to work on the light, do I REALLY have to remove the entire backseat and hatshelf (as WillemBal did to get rid of a fly that was stuck there!) or are there less invasive procedures that can be performed?

I bought a 09 Sonata GLS in July, really nice other than dash noise, what has been described as crackle. Briefly, my sonata is makes crackling noise going over small bumps, more pronounced in colder temp. I have taken it in to the dealer 4 times, problem still persist. According to the dealer, Hyundai regional office knows of my problem, and there is no fix for it at this time. I just bought the vehicle and I am suppose to live with it?????

I have a Gs 430 - 2006. After hitting bumps in the highway big or small it seems like my dash or suspension squeaks inside the car. Since I can hear it so clearly I'm leaning towards its the dash or something behind the dash, It seems to be coming from the drivers side. What could it be?
