Touareg :: Radio Turns On Whenever Any Function On Nav Is Activated
Dec 6, 2007
I've just acquired a 2008 Cranberry T'reg V8 with the Techno and Lux packages. Whenever any function on the Nav/Radio unit is activated, the radio turns on. For example, when shifting into reverse, this activates the reverse camera screen -- and the radio also turns on. Likewise, if I turn on the navigation screen, the radio turns on. This is kind of annoying if I don't want the radio on, but want other functions activated. Is there a setting that I'm missing? The only thing I can figure is to keep the volume setting at zero.

My Dad just bought a 2004 v10 and has somehow messed up the mute function on the car. He Now has both the Radio and the Nav muted and cannot figure out how to fix the situation. He doesn't like to use the computer and asked me to figure it out. I'm sure I could stumble into it if I wasn't 800 miles away.

I don't know if it's a new thing or if I've just noticed it but when I activate the OD off function the tranny drops into 3rd and the TC remains locked. This continues until/unless I slow down enough to drop into 2nd gear, then no TC lock when it upshifts to 3rd. There is a live tune in the PCM that came with the truck if that makes a difference. Is this a problem waiting to get worse?

Yesterday, I went through my car doing a complete LED conversion. I got everything done. And then I replaced my high beams with Silverstar Ultras. I didn't touch my fog lights or my low beams (these will come next.) And then I went and got some wings with the boys, showing off my new LEDs and my bright high beams. We noticed that my fog lights turn off when my high beams were activated. A cool point I never knew about, but, it is extremely relevant in this story.
This morning I went to work, and noticed that my fog lights were not working. So after work, I came home and tried everything to get them working, check fuse in car, and tried every combination of light to activate them. Then I checked the fuse box under the hood, I hadn't actually ever looked in there before. When I did, I noted that the 10amp fuse, Fog R/R was missing... MISSING. I took the spare from the cover and put it in, and bam, fog lights work again.

Do the taillights are supposed to come on during the daytime when the DRL's are activated? Mine do and I'm trying to figure out if I have a bad light sensor.

Radio controls no longer function. Only the volume and the seek buttons work. Have to use controls on the steering wheel to make any changes.

On my 1993 Subaru Legacy wagon, when the ignition switch is turned on to engage the starter, normally the power to the windshield wipers and radio is cut off until the key is released. What is happening is the power to the wipers and radio is occasionally delayed by a couple of seconds up to maybe a minute or two. This is happening sporadically, maybe once every other day or so, unpredictable. What is going on?

So I'm not sure if it's something I did or an actual issue. I've had my t-reg less than a week and I just noticed that for some reason the turn signals don't seem to function properly.
Here's what happens: The signals outside the car (incl. side view mirrors) will work. But I get no clicking noise and the indicators on the dash do not light up (same issue with hazzards). I turned the car on/off and the radio on/off and nothing.
So I turn around and come back home to call my VW dealer, but all of a sudden the signals just started working again after I restarted the car. Did I do something?

Silly question but what are the 2 round plastic buttons on the back seat for? They're located on the back support near the lower lumbar regions on each side.

First, the Touareg navigation radio has two AUX inputs, plus a telephone audio input. One AUX input is an AUDIO/VIDEO input. The other is an AUDIO only input. Below is a photo of two Dietz cables connected to the two different AUX inputs:
How to actually connect these cables and what parts are required would be too lengthy a post for this thread. So if you want to know these details, click on the link shown in my signature below.

I've been having trouble with the stock radio in my 2011 SF. It randomly turns off, then turns back on by itself, 5 to 10 minutes later. It comes back on in whatever mode/ station it was on when it turned off. I've pressed every button, tried to insert a cd, and tried the steering wheel buttons. The USB power goes off too.
The station memories stay, so I don't think it's a power issue, at least at the fuse level. The battery is fairly new. I've cleaned the fuse and both ends of both ground wires in the engine bay. When I cleaned the fuse, I lost station memories, is there two fuses for the radio, perhaps? Or does the memory power and radio power split after the fuse box?
have a GPS and don't use Sirius/XM anymore. I've read part of the radio/ nav system sticky, wow, is it long.

I just recently purchased a 2000 mk4 GTI and as stated above, the radio turns and all the buttons work but there is no sound. The amp in the back was removed and there are two clips that are not hooked up to anything. I am wondering if the radio needs the amp hooked up for it to work at all.

I've been wondering about this issue for about a year now. I haven't torn out the stereo to see if the wiring is jacked up (came with the truck). When I have the truck running and the radio is on I pull the light switch and the radio turns off, then turns back on...... The radio also buzzes when the truck is running, kind of like it has a bad ground but I've checked the grounds and powers and all is good.

My wife has a 2013 Santa Fe. When she turns off her vehicle, her radio stays on until you open the door. To be honest that is how it works in most cars I have been in.
However it seems like in the Sonata 2013 it just turns off all together. Is this normal? Is there a feature to make it stay on until the door is opened?

I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra. I've been having an issue where my radio turns off and on intermittently. To clarify, it will not turn itself on if the button was off. However, if I'm listening to the radio it can turn itself off and back on again multiple times. This happens on AM/FM/AM and Auxiliary. I'm assuming it happens with CD, but haven't listened to that lately.
Sometimes it happens in rapid succession, other times it's off for five minutes or more and comes back on. Other times it stays off. Sometimes it behaves as it should. It doesn't seem to matter if the car is warmed up or not. Is this merely a wonky fuse or something more sinister?

2007 Jeep Wrangler Manual Transmission: The radio turns off and then back on (shorts out?) when the engine is going really slowly. For instance, when creeping up to a stop light in second gear vice first. Why is this happening? How can I prevent the radio from continuing to do this. In the past I had a Hyundai Elantra, Ford Escort, and a Dodge Colt, all had a manual transmission and none had issues with the radio shorting out.

Having issues with their navigation screen in the '14 IS. Twice now in the last week, while driving, it has reset. The screen goes black, music/radio turns off, and then everything comes back up after a second or two like nothing happened. Also, probably just a coincidence, but both times it happened in roughly the same location on my drive to work.

While driving 1 of 3 issues occur... radio will click off for 2 seconds, entire dash turns off for 2 seconds (car continues to run), or all electric clicks off and car shuts off. If left to sit for a few minutes car will restart. Will occur a bunch of times in one trip and then not for a week. Does not seem to depend on type of driving or weather conditions. Honda cant seem to figure out and until the yesterday they blew me off. Yesterday, the anti-theft actually locked out the radio, so at least they could see "something" occurred.

Whenever (almost every-time) I start my Treg the A/C comes on. It doesn't matter if I turn it off before (quad zone btw) turning off the car, it still comes on when I start it back up. The fans will be all the way down, but still on (though I don't think the fans are going at all.) Any way to disable this?
