My passenger side HL occasionally doesn't come alive at ignition when the light control dial/switch is set on Auto mode. My dealer cannot duplicate the problem.
View 3 RepliesAbout 1x month, I get into the Prius C and want to start heat/ac. None of the buttons operate and if I press the "auto" button it will light up but not stay engaged. Overall, not a big deal. After a shift into drive and a few minutes of driving the system usually starts working. If I don't want to wait, I find that turning the Prius C off and on again usually resolves the issue. I am not concerned now, but wondering if issue may escalate as car ages.

View 19 RepliesI have one minor complaint with my A/C system. I always run it in recirc mode, but the Touareg A/C system always places it in auto-recirc, so I always have to press the recirc button everytime I start the car. Is there a way to keep the car in recirc mode between starts?
View 24 RepliesSo today it was 101 and I figured I would put the AC on auto but when I set it to auto the temperature defaults to 72. Is this normal and can I change it? It seems like the climate control in auto mode go off of the outside temp, if hot outside blow cold inside and vice versa. What is the point to auto AC if I manually have to set the temp?

View 8 RepliesMy T-rex was in recently for what seemed like 30 recalls... In the midst of it...my turn signal light bulb went out. They changed it...good thing cause you need to remove the ENTIRE headlight assembly with a special tool, etc. Well...my headlight now goes on/off as it hits bumps etc...was back in once to have it fixed...and has since started again. I noticed the entire assembly does not fit as well (tight) as it did originally, nor like the other assembly that has never been touched. Appears to have been the first assembly they have worked on and broke something cause now it does not mount properly...so after all that...
Had this headlight assembly removed?
Lately every time I get into my 2004 V8 I get the warning check headlight range control. How to fix this or does this require a visit to the dealer?

I have a 2004 V8 and the automatic leveling feature seems to be working correctly. If I stand in front of the vehicle, it appears that the headlights level themselves when the ignition is turned on.
I have noticed a couple times while driving at night that the headlights did not appear to be shinning down the road as far as they have been during other trips, so I'm thinking the problems could be related.
My vehicle shows currently two awkward behaviors:
1) I can start the vehicle using the keyless start button without having to step on the brake pedal.
2) I can switch on cruise control. The green symbol appears, however, I cannot set a speed. The system simply seems to ignore that I press the set button.
It is a fairly new vehicle, Touareg SN 42xxx. It has two problems, which might be inter-related, both of which have defied all the repair attempts of a very competent and concerned dealership.
First problem: The warning message "Headlight Range Control" keeps on appearing. Much work has been done to try and fix this: Alignment of lights checked, suspension level sensors checked, vehicle inspected for damaged wires, etc. Later on in the process, both headlight assemblies and the instrument cluster were replaced. The message still appears.
Second problem: This is really minor, I only mention it because it might be related to the first problem. The instrument cluster trip computer (MFA) will not store accumulated mileage over a series of trips. In other words, if the car is stopped and started a few times, the trip computer will zero out.
I took my Touareg in for an oil change. When the tech lifted it up, he called me and pointed our a bushing on the lower control arm which was leaking oil or some fluid. I touched it and it seemed like oil of some sort. It was like black or something near that color. He told me that maybe it was some kind of a hydraulic bushing and the seal had gone bad. The oil was not coming from anywhere else, but the bottom of the bushing.
I took it in to service and the tech couldn't really explain where the oil was coming from, but told me that that bushing did not have any type of fluid in it. While I had the Touareg in, the air suspension compressor finally got replaced. I feel like I'm actually driving a luxury car now. It feels so much nicer! That immediately got rid of most of my cabin rattles. Boy, was my ride bad before. That was in "comfort". I can't begin to describe how horrible it was in sport.
They replaced the dual horn, because mine went bad. They also replaced the wood trim on the driver side door. They kept ordering the wrong color. My original Myrtle was almost chocolate in color. The ones that they get now are much lighter. Just about all my wood has now been changed. The only problem now is that for some reason or another, the headlight washer isn't working. I'm wondering if they disconnected a plug while working on the horn.
So, after about a year, I've finally got just about everything done. Now all I need are new tires and an alignment. Speaking of alignments, I've noticed that my Touareg is the only vehicle I've ever driven that will continue to drive in a circle with the wheels turned, even when you let go of the wheel... while going forward. In other words, if you turn the wheel enough and accelerate, the wheel will tend to turn further until it locks. Other cars will straighten out as soon as you release the wheel, if you are going forward (not in reverse). Ok, there are 3 questions on this post: The deal with the bushing, the deal with the headlight washer and the deal with the wheel that doesn't straighten itself out.
I am in the midst of wiring up the Bold Sport kit that comes with the OEM mirror with build Rain/light sensor. It comes with a nicely made wiring harness with OEM terminals already installed. The kit can be found here for reference. [URL]

It instructs to add the power source to the fuse box. No problem. Says to add the RLS to fuse pin 17 and the Mirror power to pin 7.
Here is the diagram they show.
The problem is on my '13 Golf R, 17 is already taken. I can certainly add to a different pin on the same bus. So not really an issue there.
The other issue is that there is no power bus for pins 7-11 on my R. What gives? There is a power bus on pins 1-6 but they are all taken already.
My AC always defaults to Recirculation mode the first time I use it after starting the car even though Auto mode is off.
Can I change this to default to fresh air mode?
So i noticed, when in auto mode, whether sport mode is on or off, it does the same thing. If i floor it from a stand still, the transmission takes noticeably longer to go from 1st into 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. 1st to 2nd takes like a good second, kinda like this:
1st VROOOOM.....................2nd VROOOM..3rd VROOOM..4th.....etc..
If I drive it in manual mode, then it shifts just as fast. So this only happens in auto.
I have a Hyundai Elantra XD 2004 FX hatch. About 3 weeks ago we noticed that there was an occasional rough change in the transmission. It happens mostly between gears 3 and 4, but can happen outside these gear also.
I have checked the fluid level and it always seems low. Over the last 3 weeks I purchased some transmission fluid (I used the Castrol brand for that specific car as looked up by the spare parts shop) and the problem hasn't got any better. On top of that despite adding a total of 800mL over the last couple of weeks it still doesn't appear to register between the cold and hot level on the dipstick.
I've looked around for leaks and can't seem to find any, there were a couple of drops underneath the car but I can't say for sure they are transmission fluid, I'll have to check this again soon (it's a bit difficult as it's not my car it's my wife's and when she gets home it's dark). Either way it's only a couple of drops at worst.
What this might be, and what the process I should follow to diagnose it is? If it's anything besides a leak in a hose then I'll definitely be taking it to a mechanic/transmission specialist.
What is wrong with my Passat: once a week my car fails to start. When clutch is pressed and ignition key is turned I can hear relay under dash is clicking and nothing happening. It does not sound to me as starter (I hope). After a few seconds and few attempts car starts normally. I checked which relay is clicking and it was Relay # 53 (starting interlock relay), which linked to a clutch switch. Replaced this relay and after a week problem repeated.
View 2 RepliesMy 1999 Saturn SL1 was running well. One evening, I started it up to go home, and it wasn't running well, and barely had power to make it the half mile home. It still starts up, but seems to miss in park and in gear. We tried spark plugs, wires, coils, catalytic converter, cylinder pressure, crankshaft position sensor, and fuel filter with no change in engine behavior. I think the EGR valve was looked at and passed. I hope it is not the fuel injectors as I put a cleaner in the fuel every so often. Could it be the Ignition Control Module, and is there a way to test the existing module? What else could it be, and how could I test it?

View 24 RepliesIt hasn't been cool enough to use the heat yet, but I've noticed that whenever I hit "AUTO" on the climate control of my V3, the A/C automatically starts. I noticed in the manual that I can have the dealer make it so that the A/C doesn't automatically come on with AUTO, and that, to me, makes sense for winter.
