Touareg :: Noisy Vibration Around 2500 Rpm In 2nd And 3rd When Accelerating
Sep 12, 2007
I test drove an 08 VR6 Touareg 2 this evening. Felt quite nice though I even with the upgraded V6, I found myself stomping on the gas on the freeway to overtake compared to my 05 V8.
Anyway, what I wanted to post about was a vibration type noise occuring just around 2500rpm in 2nd and 3rd (and possibly others) when accelerating. At first, I thought it might be something in the muffler, but I wound down the windows and it didn't seem to be coming from the outside.
Note that the sound was not any kind of throaty roar - it sounded like something was loose/vibrating. Hopefully this is limited to the particular example that I drove?

I recently purchased a 2013 elantra.
I have noticed that there is engine vibration and noise felt in car and pedal when accelerating at around 2500-3000 rpm's before it shifts. Is this normal behavior? It just does not seem as smooth as it should be. I have only put about 600 miles on the car.
It has been very cold, but it does not go away after warming up.

So I drive a 2003 VW Touareg....and the other day while driving, felt this strange vibration when accelerating over 10mph. The dealership said it was an $1800 repair and diagnosed it as the drive shaft.

I recently bought a new 2016 r line, coming out of a 2013 gti 6 speed manual. This is my first suv ever and my first automatic trans in about 10 years, so needless to say it has been somewhat of an adjustment.
I love the drive of the Tiguan, but I was curious where people typically see their rpms shift at. I noticed that while driving on the highway, to accelerate with traffic it likes to shift at about 3000 rpm initially and then dropping, city/around town in around 2500. I wanted to make sure this rpm doesn't seem too high or low for this car.
Secondly, I did read some on this issue, but is everyone else's Tiguan somewhat loud when accelerating? My gti had the same engine and seemed a little quieter.it sounds almost like a Diesel engine inside the cabin, but not as loud as one would be. My wife drives a cx5 with 184 HP and hers is a decent amount quieter. Noticed the engine being a little noisy?

So I bought this 2007 used with 86K on the engine. After 2 days cats code went off and i had both replaced with brand new ones. Now my truck is making a rattling as i step on the gas at about 2500 rpms. Its sounds like metal in a can swirling around amd as i let off gas the sound stops. It happens often, also the other day in was pulling off and heard a grind for about 2 seconds then stopped never beard it again, it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side. It sounds like a bearing. This is the noise.

2002 Dodge Diesel PU ... At about 125000 miles a slight vibration appeared and has progressively gotten worse. Now at 177000 it comes on at 60 mph and is pretty bad. I've replaced tires, shocks, hub bearings, u-joints and locator bars, all to no avail. The tires show no unusual wear and the drive shaft(s) u-joints appear good. I'm not the only one with this problem but Dodge denies any knowledge of it's occurrence.

I am hearing a vibrating sound only between 2000 - 2500 rpm while accelerating from inside/under engine bay. No impact on ride quality and no engine harshness is felt. Only it sounds like some metal sheet is vibrating for a while. After crossing 2500 rpm it simply disappears.
Checked inside the engine compartment by revving the engine while stationery and I don't get that sound. What could it be? Some shield of the exhaust? cat?

I have a relatively new to me Excursion. It seems to run well and shift well but recently I've become very aware of a strange hum, thrum, and vibration in the floor boards. The sound and vibration have a definite cadence/pulse.
Here is what I have observed trying to source the sound. Occurs around 2500 rpm and continues up to 4000 haven't really gone past 4k to know about after that.
Occurs in Park, neutral and drive and is more noticeable under load especially when towing. It is not really noticeable under my normal driving style it gets lost in the running gear until the X is at around 3600 RPM's which typically doesn't happen unless I'm pulling a long grade with a trailer. It was only after testing at a standstill in park and neutral that I realized it actually starts at approximately 2500.
Other than the vibration and low frequency hum starting at 2500 there are no real indicators of reduced performance or other problems but it's got me nervous.

I purchased a new 2007 Touareg. At speeds above 80 km/hr, the car is noisy... Is that the norm?

It's 26 degrees out, and my electric fan is running full tilt. It's quite loud... I can't understand why this thing would be running like it is, but I can't believe that it's normal for the radiator fan to go full tilt like that when it's this cold...

My 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 with diesel engine, intermittently makes a noise similar to the sound knobby tires make. It also sounds similar to the exhaust brake, but louder. A vibration accompanies the noise. Two mechanics (one a tire expert, one at a Dodge dealer) test drove it and examined it on their racks and said it's the right front wheel bearing/hub assembly. I replaced that, despite not hearing or feeling any problem when rotating the wheel by hand. I've examined all tires and turned the wheels by hand while listening for odd sounds or roughness, and examined all drive shafts and joints which have not apparent problem, to no avail. When this issue first started, I heard a sound like rubber squeaking while driving at very low speed, especially in reverse.

Recently had an aftermarket turbo back exhaust system installed. After driving for a short while, I noticed that between 2500 and 3500 RPMs the noise was very loud. Once I hit the highway (in which the engine almost exclusively hangs around those numbers), it was almost unbearable to sit in the car while having that constant droning sound. I have had and been in cars with aftermarket exhaust systems before and never heard anything quite like this. It is pretty tame below 2500 and once you hit 4000, it sounds quite nice and that horrible drone goes away. I really trust the shop that did the work, so I doubt it was faulty install. Could it be a faulty design or maybe just the one that I received?
This exhaust is from a reputable maker and they designed this system specifically for the Golf R. I did have some other mods done at the same time (Coilovers, Engine Mount Insert, Intake and a Tune). I know the insert may cause a little bit of vibration and hence a little bit of extra noise, but nothing like this. While driving on the highway at 3000 RPMs, I cannot even clearly see the cars behind me through the rear windshield as there is so much vibration from all the noise.
Forgot to mention, this TBE is resonated with a CAT, so even more reason for concern. Would expect it to be quiet by comparison to a CAT-less non-resonated system

I still have the original Pirelli Scorpion tires on my 2010 Touareg (30,100 Miles). For the last year or so the tires have become extremely noisy. Before the warranty expired I made the dealer check to make sure there is nothing wrong with the wheel bearings or the drive train and of course they told me everything is fine. I had an alignment done about 3,000 Miles ago since the tires showed a little uneven wear.

I just bought a used 2004 Touareg. I think I got a great deal.
I have noticed the noisy windshield wipers, the condensation on the windshield, minor binding problems when turning, and some hesitation/jumpiness in the throttle. I talked to a dealer today and they said if I had a list of things to fix, they could do it in a day.

I just purchased a very nice 06 xle camry w/ 160k miles 4 days ago.
The car is in awesome condition and even the engine is spotless.
The only issue is there is a weird vibration when accelerating to about 45-50 mph and then it smooths out.
I noticed it a day after i bought the car and yesterday i took it back to the dealership to have them take a look at it and the guy told me that a mechanic took it for a long test drive and noticed the vibration and a very slight whine while accelerating.
He said they think it is the transmission causing the vibration due to its age and its nothing to worry about. They said "the only way to fix it is to have the transmission rebuilt but its not worth it because its ok".
What could be causing it to vibrate? I don't want to have to worry about the car braking down, i want to actually enjoy it.

Car shakes real bad when it turns over and then at different speeds. 25-30 it'll shake more, along with 45-50 and around 70 mph.
Mechanic friend says motor mounts which would make since cause the one thats visible has cracks in the rubber.
But the shop my father takes the car into says it needs a new drive shaft.

My daughters 2005 Elantra has a nasty vibration when you accelerate. When you reach 45-50 and press the gas pedal you can feel the vibration in your feet. The steering wheel does not vibrate at all. Once you let off the gas it stops immediately. Based on this I'm leaning toward a motor mount or maybe all of them.

I have a 2002 Camry with a 2003 engine in it. Recently, I have been noticing a vibration that seems to be in the front end, and can be felt on the steering wheel as well. It only happens at around 45 MPH and up. It has been a while since I have been on the interstate so I am not sure if it smoothes out at 70 or not.
The vibration is only when accelerating, it stops if you let off the gas. Going down a hill it stops, but going up a hill it vibrates.

I have a lateral vibration while accelerating between 40-60MPH. There is no vibration if the car is at constant speed, decelerating or if I drive, at that speed, with the clutch depressed.
The problem persists in spite of having aligned and balanced the tyres, a few days back. Subsequently, I again rotated the tyres because the mechanic insisted that it was a tyre and rim issue. But no luck! The tyres are in great condition and the rims aren't damaged.
Visual inspection of the under body also revealed no obvious problems except for slightly leaky rear shocks.
The car is a 2009, Hyundai Accent sedan, 1.4 litre petrol.

My 2008 Passat vibrates excessively anytime I am accelerating once above 40mph. Done balancing severally and bought new tyres yet problem is not abating. What else can I do?

When I am accelerating heavy and then slow down as it is engine braking i get a strange vibration. It seems to come from the drive line i just looked over the car today there is nothing loose all suspension is tight drive shaft looks good and the rubber u joint looks good too. I noticed it after I put in the resonator delete but I didn't think that it could cause it.
