Jul 26, 2008
I purchased a new 2007 Touareg. At speeds above 80 km/hr, the car is noisy... Is that the norm?

View 2 RepliesI have found the OE tires are very noisy at lower speeds. They are Michelin Energy. I have Michelin Primacy MXV4 on my 2008 Avalon and they are very quiet. Is there a solution other than replacing them?
View 14 RepliesJust got rid of my 2011 Audi a4 for 2012 Elantra Limited with tech pkg. I like the car a lot but man is it noisy at highway speeds. Really makes phone calls and radio listening difficult.
View 25 RepliesIt's 26 degrees out, and my electric fan is running full tilt. It's quite loud... I can't understand why this thing would be running like it is, but I can't believe that it's normal for the radiator fan to go full tilt like that when it's this cold...
View 1 RepliesMy new Sonata Limited 2.4 has 17" wheels and Kumho tires. On certain rough concrete, or more often asphalt road surfaces, at highway speeds, this car is so noisy that one can hardly carry on a conversation. It's terribly loud. Dealer has "checked" it, and tire dealer has looked at the tires. No problem has been found. What can be done about this?
View 77 RepliesI still have the original Pirelli Scorpion tires on my 2010 Touareg (30,100 Miles). For the last year or so the tires have become extremely noisy. Before the warranty expired I made the dealer check to make sure there is nothing wrong with the wheel bearings or the drive train and of course they told me everything is fine. I had an alignment done about 3,000 Miles ago since the tires showed a little uneven wear.
View 2 RepliesI test drove an 08 VR6 Touareg 2 this evening. Felt quite nice though I even with the upgraded V6, I found myself stomping on the gas on the freeway to overtake compared to my 05 V8.
Anyway, what I wanted to post about was a vibration type noise occuring just around 2500rpm in 2nd and 3rd (and possibly others) when accelerating. At first, I thought it might be something in the muffler, but I wound down the windows and it didn't seem to be coming from the outside.
Note that the sound was not any kind of throaty roar - it sounded like something was loose/vibrating. Hopefully this is limited to the particular example that I drove?
I just bought a used 2004 Touareg. I think I got a great deal.
I have noticed the noisy windshield wipers, the condensation on the windshield, minor binding problems when turning, and some hesitation/jumpiness in the throttle. I talked to a dealer today and they said if I had a list of things to fix, they could do it in a day.
I got the temperatures to be different on the driver and passenger sides but is there a way to unlink the fan speeds?
View 2 RepliesLately, Im noting a grinding like feeling at all speeds. Its as if something in the wheels/drive train isn't smooth (like a busted bearing) and there is a low grinding noise that is consistent with the engine revs. I can feel it in the gas pedal and on the shifter when I place my hand on it.
View 2 RepliesI purchased my 2004 Blue-silver V6 Touareg last week. So far all is well. Except for one major problem. I keep hearing a noise under the bottom when I am at very low speeds. It has an axle-grinding sound to it. Here is my problem -- it comes and goes. I took it back to the dealership and they heard nothing. I drove it for a day later and heard nothing. But once again the noise came back --- last night and this morning. Keep in mind -- I am not using the sportshift or offroading drives--I'm just driving on the interstate and as I exit off an come to a slow stop -- "I hear this weird axle noise under the bottom".
View 3 RepliesIs there a way to override the air-suspension lowering in Off-road level when going at speeds over 43 mph?
View 3 RepliesBrought my Treg in for service today for a host of things:
Grinding/Scrubbing when turning at low speeds. TPM Pull to the right/Alignment/Uneven tire wear.
Limited remote range
Drivers side whistling noise when fan speed at 3-4 bars and windows are closed
Service Advisor tells me the Transmission Control Module is the cause of the scrubbing/grinding at low speeds. I have seen the posts with respect to the Stepper motors.
V6 Touareg, Sunroof, roof racks (locked together at rear.) At certain speeds (40-45mph) there is a loud vibration on the roof. If the sunroof is opened or raised, the vibration stops. Nothing visible on the roof or sunroof which would suggest the cause of the noise.
View 4 RepliesExperienced a wind noise that is very irritating at above 40mph?I am by no means being nit picky about either,it's very loud. The sound is best described as wind whistle. The frustrating part is that it is hard to pin-point and a search here turned up ....
View 11 RepliesSince purchasing my T-Reg, I've heard a cranking sound, from what I assume is the rear diff at speeds from 1-5 mph. I only really hear it when I'm turning int a parking spot or parallel parking. I know the rear diff will spin the wheels at different speeds and I know at low speeds there can be some noise, but, since most passenger suvs don't have rear diffs, and some level of engineering has removed that nuisance from center diffs, it's not heard of to much. Is this something I need to have looked at?
View 5 RepliesWhat this might be. I have a rattle type noise coming from behind the glovebox. It is only there at low speeds and driving on poorly paved roads. It is definitely not in the glovebox. It has been driving me crazy for some time now...
View 3 RepliesI have a 04 v6 model , in the last couple of months when I am on the interstate at about 75-80 mph. I get a very loud vibrating noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The dealer thinks the drive shaft has some play in it.
View 6 RepliesOK here's a new one (for me anyway). My Reg started to produce a squeaking noise from the chassis. I can't tell exactly where its coming from (yet) but it seems to occur mostly at slow speeds. I can reproduce the noise by driving over a speed bump or making a slow speed turn. I suspect an exhaust hanger as it seems to happen front and rear. I cannot reproduce it by bouncing on the corners of car though.
View 3 RepliesI just did a 2000 mile round trip in my treg...what an awesome highway vehicle. The air suspension is supposed to lower at speeds over 76 mph I believe. I was running at 85 to 90 most of the time. Any indication of the lowering in the display? I really couldn't tell if it was happening or not. Does it lower in all suspension modes, i.e comfort, auto etc? It didn't seem to raise upon slowing.
View 15 RepliesI got my Egg on 8/5/03. I have almost 10,000 miles on it, and other than an assorted rattle and a persistent shimmy in the wheel at certain speeds, despite rebalancing and rotation at 7,000 miles, I love it. It's quick, handles very well, and rides great. It's a topic of conversation everywhere, and while this is a matter of opinion and as I value mine I'll give it to y'all, it is one of the best looking SUVs made.
