Touareg :: Misfire At Low RPM And Will Not Run

Feb 6, 2007

My Tourage has been at the dealers for three days. They said water in gas. They cleaned tank, filter, and pump and new gas. Still have the same problem. They replaced the coil pack all 6 and still same problem it misfires at low RPM and will not run. Dealer is getting sick of me and that they cannot find the problem. I have missed three days of work sine it broke down while I was visting family in VA. I am 425 miles from home with no way back. I have paid over $850.00 for work so far. The T. has 34,000 miles I fill I am going to pay allot more before or if they ever fix it. I have had some problems with my 05 V6 Tourage but for the most part been happy with it.

Touareg :: 2004 3.2L Misfire Only On Idle

I've got this Touareg that's just got this misfire only on idle. It sounds like it may be coming from the intake manifold itself, but I can't find any leaks when spraying carburetor cleaner. I tried smoking the system to check for leaks still no luck although the tool did indicate a leak we just couldn't find it!

Touareg :: 2001 - Getting Consistent P0305 And P0307 Misfire Codes?

I'm getting consistent P0305 and P0307 misfire codes when my 4.2L engine is revved past 5,000 RPM. Have a done a bunch of diagnostics including a new timing belt to no avail.

Specifics:

I have 2001 Audi A6 with a 4.2L 40V engine (yes, I know it isn't a Touareg but the motor is the same!). Timing belt replaced about 1.5 years ago and it runs great. However, I'm getting some codes. 1) At high RPM (over 5,000 rpm) under load, I consistently get a P0300, P0305 and a P0307. Happens like clockwork. As soon as I hit 5,000 rpm, those three codes post. 2) After driving around for a bit, I get a P0340 (Cam position Sensor). Things I have done, all with no change: 1) Checked for Vacuum Leaks 2) Replaced all the spark plugs 3) Moved all the coil packs from one side to the other 4) Replaced the Cam position Sensors 5) Moved all the injectors from one side to the other 6) Inspected (as best I could) the variable cam timing system under the valve covers. Brown chain guides looked OK.

Finally, I changed the timing belt to no avail. When I disassembled, I found the motor was perfectly in time. My marks from the first change ~18 months ago were still in place and everything lined up. I was able to install the crankshaft lock and cam locking bar with the timing belt in place (it wasn't even off a fraction, the locking bar slid right in). I installed a new belt and all the rollers + tensioner. Didn't put in a new water pump but changed all the other pieces. The new install went great and I was able to get almost exactly the 5mm gap on the tensioner after spinning the motor a few times that Bentley talks about. Put it back together and took it for a spin. DARN!@ The same codes post at exactly 5,000 RPM: P0300, P0305, P0307.

Golf/GTI VI :: Misfire In All Four Cylinders?

So, unfortunately, when I go to start it, it dies shortly after. So I scanned it and I'm pulling up a couple codes, actually quite a few. I'm currently at work and can't look them all up.

Most of them are misfires, but what are the chances that I've got a misfire in all four of my cylinders? Bad coil packs all go at once? I was told it could potentially be a boost leak?

Golf VI R :: Misfire When Acceleration At WOT?

Ever since I've gone APR Stage 2+ (most recent revision) I think I've been experiencing a misfire when acceleration at wot- I've had the tune for quite a while now. Typically I get pop out of the exhaust in 4th gear around 5,300rpm but today I experienced it in 3rd gear same rpm but it popped 3 times in a row.

Performance mods include: HPA TBE w/ 100 cell high flow cat, APR Tune, APR HPFP, Evoms Intake, R8 coil packs and upgraded spark plugs.

What could be causing this? I've read all of the past articles and it seemed the upgraded coil packs and spark plugs would do the trick but it hasn't.

Repair :: CEL / VSA Came On Again - Cylinder 3 Misfire?

My Honda's check engine light and VSA light were on. The diagnosis was cylinder 3 misfire, an apparent Honda problem and one that I've had fixed once before on this same car at the dealership where I bought the car. This time the tech said I needed the pistons replaced and that the damaged pistons had also damaged the cylinders so they needed to be repaired (not replaced), and that I needed new spark plugs. My car has been in the dealer repair shop since July 16 (3 weeks today). I've had cars in the shop before and know just a little about cars. Three weeks seems like a LONG time. My question is: Is this normal or not (I am a woman and I'm not sure the tech/dealership is being honest with me. They assure me that this repair can take a long time).

Camry :: 2003 V6 XLE - Misfire On Cylinder 5

I recently purchased a 03 Camry XLE V6 love the car, but the engine has been giving me trouble. Since owning the car in January it has been in the shop 3 times for a cylinder misfire on 5. They jave replaced the ignition coil, spark plug, and fuel injector and still would misfire, it might be a few weeks later, but it would still misfire. It is currently in the shop for the something, they have checked the fuel, electrical system, and compression tested the cylinder and all has comeback good.

LS / MKZ :: 2003 Lincoln V8 Misfire On Cylinder 7

I have an 03 Lincoln LS V8 136000 miles. Just bought it in mid June and it was throwing P0420 and 430. I changed out the Coils and plugs and that seemed to do the trick. Before I was getting about 18.5 mpg and after it went up to 22 mpg. Well this lasted for about 250 miles (about a week). Now I have developed a really bad miss on #7,and a sometime flashing CEL, changed out the coil, no change. My question could this be a fuel problem? I did have one thing strange thing happen before I did the coils and plugs. I was just pulling on to the on ramp stepped on the pedal and it was like some one turned the car off nothing let off the gas and it was still idling tried again nothing, pulled off to the side. turned it off and restarted and it was fine??? Plus the fact it seems now that I my have to do the solenoid in the tranny grabbing during shifts.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2005 - Misfire On Cylinder 1 And 3

Just today I acquired a 2005 Prius (trim level 1... so no options at all) in exchange for a cruddy old Ram truck and a dying Avalon. They had issues, but so does the Prius. The car has around 218K on it, I just replaced the spark plugs with NGK iridium plugs, cleaned the MAF, sort of cleaned the throttle body a little bit, and even swapped the coils around to see if the misfire would change. I also gave the car a new air filter.

Prius (Gen 2) :: CEL Came On - Misfire Due To Oil In Combustion Chamber

CEL came on in July at 165K miles, though there weren't any noticeable issues with performance. I took it to the dealership and they found P0300 and P0304 misfire codes. They replaced the spark plugs, and everything seemed fine for over a month.

They said I still had original spark plugs, which I refused. causes, replace/repair engine? I had 100K service at this dealership, which included "Replace regular spark plugs". I found out later from them that because the Prius doesn't have "regular" spark plugs, they didn't replace them during this service and didn't bother to tell me.

Suburban :: Car Misfire After Working On Engine

I replaced the oil pressure switch on an '07 Suburban 5.3L because the oil pressure was showing low once the engine warmed up. That did nothing, then I found out about that little filter/screen under the sensor. I intended to remove and clean the filter then reinstall it. While I was pulling it out, I dropped it back behind the engine and couldn't find it. I checked online and found a few people in other forums that said to just remove the screen as a "fix", so I left it out and put the sensor back in, just to get the vehicle drivable. It started right up and ran fine for me, parked it, and a after sitting for a few hours it started popping while driving with the SES light flashing on the drive home.

Code P0300 was set, no cylinder specific misfire codes were present. I checked the misfire data and cylinder #6 showed tens of thousands of misfires, #5 showed several hundred, but I think it was just picking them up from #6 since #5 is right after #6 in the firing order. I disabled each injector with a scan tool, all changed the idle except #6, it did absolutely nothing. #6 fuel injector had good pulse to it, I connected a fuel pressure gauge and put power/ground to injectors #6 and #4, both dropped the same fuel pressure. I did the "cylinder deactivation" test on the scan tool for the four cylinders that have it, they all did the exact same thing - the engine bogged way down for a couple seconds and then died. Is that normal? I can't say I've ever seen a V8 engine die before when running on 6 or 7 cylinders.

I checked compression on cylinder #6, it showed very low, almost zero, but I tried it a few times and it would show just a little compression at times... valves staying shut? I'm thinking when I opened the pressure relief valve on the gauge and the piston was near the bottom of the cylinder may be when it showed some compression. I also switched the coil/wire/plug from #6 to other cylinders and the miss did not follow.
