If you put your ear to the steering wheel, does everyone's MFI make a buzzing noise? Kinda like a computer screen noise. Just seems a bit excessive to me, but maybe that is just how they are.
View 2 RepliesWas the warmest/hottest day of the year here so far and my black Prius had been parked in the sun all day. When I came to drive the car the a/c came on full power to lower the cabin temperature.
However, from the front of the car the two fans were making a really weird buzzing, humming noise (but were both spinning at high speed). Now I know a/c fans work flat out sometimes but I have never heard a noise like this before on a cars a/c. It almost sounded like the noise a jammed lawnmower makes, or some of the old lifts/elevators doors make. Almost an electrical buzzing noise of a solanoid but it was coming from the two fans.
Is this normal? Was it the fans or maybe the compressor or both? The a/c was working fine and was ice cold. When the cabin temperature reduced the noise reduced a disappeared with it. However, I did manage to repeat it by turning the a/c internal fan speed to full on a low temp setting.
Proud new owner of V8 Touareg here. I am hearing a faint "electrical" buzz from the 3" LCD Panel on the instrument panel. Noticeable while the engine is off, while engine is running, anytime the LCD panel is on. Dealer tells me this is a normal noise. Is this "normal" for the MFI?
View 4 RepliesOK started getting a buzzing noise coming from the engine bay on the drivers side. Cant locate it from outside the car, only when sitting in the car stationary with the engine on. Does not do it from cold, only once the engine is warm. ie drive for 30 minutes, park up, run some chores for say 20 minutes, get back in car and then drive off, when i then say stop at some lights, i hear this buzzing sound (sounds like a pump or motor). Normally goes away after about 10/15 minutes. This started happened after last vist to dealership when they replaced my electric harness and also fixed some o rings on the water pump. Wondering if it is related to the last visit or something new maybe on the air suspension or what.

View 2 RepliesI was very surprised to find that after having only gone 3k miles after my last oil change (at 20k) my 2004 V6 Toureg burned a half-quart of oil. Asked my dealerships about this and was told this is normal and VW allows a quart of oil per 1k miles before they replace the motor. The service rep even said that I should have my oil changed every 5k miles even though the manual says 10k. This sounds like BS to be because I would drive my 2.8 VR6 8k between oil changes and it would only be a half-quart low. I used Mobil 1 synthetic of course. Has V6 burns a lot of oil?

Sometimes goes back on when you hid a bump like there's a poor connection.
I have a very strange sound coming from the multi color display in the instrument cluster. Whenever the display is on (no need to start the car, just open the door) there is a humming or buzzing sound. Not very loud, but loud enough to get on my nerves.

View 7 RepliesOver the past few weeks we have not driven the Touareg as much and noticed something new. On cold start, after sitting for 1-2 days the transmission seems to slip when going from Park to reverse. Once in reverse, I apply throttle, the tack goes up, but the Treg does not move . It takes 2-5 seconds for it to go, then it smoothly starts to pull, slow at first and then catches up. Once I am backed out of the garage (25-30 FT), I shift to drive and there is no more slipping until the next cold start.
I called the dealership and they told me this was normal. I took it in for an overnight stay so they can experience it in the morning after sitting overnight. I also asked that the Transmission fluid be checked since the engine was in and out twice and it had a leaky seal. We have put in the neighborhood of 70-80K miles on the 4 Touaregs we have owned and I don't ever remember this symptom or problem.
Two part question:
-Audio is my hobby. I hear things that many people don't. One of the things I'm hearing from my Sound System I is a faint buzzing/vibration in many of the speakers. Some of it can only be heard in certain songs (Steely Dan/Jack Of Speed - Great song!), or when playing an audio book. Most of the time, it comes from the woofers, but with audio books (spoken word), I can hear it from midrange/tweeters as well.
-I've had the car at the dealer multiple times for this. They did replace one speaker and claim to have parts in order to fix it. I suspect that the speakers are just vibrating on their mounts, or vibrating something inside the door. I might be able to fix it. How to take the door panels off so the speakers can be accessed?
So, I go out to my car, unlock, open the driver side door... zzzzzzzz (not a hisssssssss) comes from under the car towards the rear suspension. I do not have the air suspension, so I'm guessing that the car thinks I do and probably has modules for it. One of those modules happens to be thinking I do and is trying to lower the car for my entry?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 touareg 2 V8. When we first got the truck everything was fine.. In the last month or so the driver's side mirror seems to be humming or buzzing at 50-70mph (80-120km/h)... If I fold the mirrors it goes away... Cross wind will make it louder, also it is intermittent... Maybe it's resonance?
View 3 RepliesWhen I turn the dial on my sunroof control just a click or two, the roof opens to a little more than half open. Basically, the roof has maybe 3 positions between 1/2 and all the way open despite the multitude of click positions on the dial. It's nowhere near precise. I'd like to be able to open it just a little sometimes (not tilt, open).
Is this just the way it is or will my VW dealer be able to adjust something?
Is it recommended to completely stop the Touareg before shifing from the Sport mode to the Normal driving mode?
View 4 RepliesBy way of brief background, I have a 2004 Touareg with 180,000 miles. I recently noticed that the front left air suspension was sitting lower than normal after the truck had been sitting. I discovered that the shock was leaking air and in the subsequent days began getting "Running Gear Workshop" warnings on the MFI. I got both the orange ones and a red one that instructs you to stop immediately. It reset after parking, and restarting. In summary, I knew I had a problem.
Today, I stopped at the dealer and they confirmed that the fitting at the top of the air shock was in deed leaking. Attached is a photograph showing the fitting. It is important that you inspect these fittings ASAP if you have air suspension. There is a TSB that references corrosion and possible failure. See TSB 43 07 01
Initially I was told that the entire air shock would have to be replaced but after doing research and with the assistance of Spockcat, I discovered that the fitting can be replaced assuming the female portion of the connection is not corroded. Replacing the entire air shock assembly is expensive. Apparently, there have been some instances where the fitting has failed during driving and bad things happen.
So I went into my garage last night to shut the door. I heard a slight buzzing/humming noise coming from the car. I narrowed the noise to under the truck of the vehicle. It sounded like a fuel pump was running. I don't know when it started, but it was about 5 hours after the car was driven last. After a little research, I found this in the manual page 8:
"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and it does not indicate a malfunction."
I started my car and it stopped after that. Could this be The case of why some people have dead batteries on the 2014? Maybe this runs to frequently or stays on too long?
My 1989 GMC k1500 step side makes a buzzing noise when i run the heater, when i turn it up the noise gets louder, whats causing this and how do i fix it?
View 6 RepliesThe dealer had my bluetooth set up for me but since day one theres been a buzzing noise when talking through it. Other people on here have experienced it as well. Someone on here said the cancelled theirs out and then reconnected their phone and the buzzing disappeared. I managed to disconnect mine but even following the owners manual, I can't get mine reconnected. It keeps saying no device found.
