Touareg :: Low Washer Fluid Warning / Oil Dripping From Driver Side
Jan 25, 2004
My wife came home this evening and said our new Treg 'smelled' when she came to a stop light. She says she had no error messages or lights, other than low washer fluid. I went out, smelled nothing, so I started it up. All gauges normal. No odd sounds... no odd smells. I shut it off and looked under the car and to my surprise saw oil rapidly dripping from the drives side at about the front axle. I checked the dipstick and it showed no oil at all. I plugged in my VAG-com and checked for codes - nothing.
I'm hopeful that the engine is not now a paperweight. I suspect VW will want to fix the leak and give the truck back to me. I think at a minimum I need them to do a leak down compression check.

I recently noticed that our washer fluid is leaking. We had a massive snowstorm just over a week ago, and we accordingly went snowboarding. After returning that night, the fluid warning went off. I filled it, and that was that. We went again the next day, in which I used no washer fluid at all. The wipers alone took care of it. Anyhow, that night I kept getting the signal to top up the washer fluid again! I had added a full gallon the night before! So, I figured something was up.
Last night, I actually witnessed it dripping from underneath, about where you think it would. I wasn't able to see the actual tank, or any of the lines leading up to the filling spout, so I couldn't tell if there's a crack in anything, or if there's a bad connection somewhere.
Before that, the only indication that there might be an actual leak was "blueness" on the garage floor, but it honestly didn't look like any more than what you would get while filling the tank and having some miss and land on the ground. It wasn't a massive puddle or anything. The other indication was the "top off" warning.

Having problem with a few drops of fluid occasionally dripping from the rear hatch washer nozzle? I notice it happening once a day or every other day after accelerating. Is there a quick fix or is it going to be a take it in, order parts, bring it back sort of deal?

Recently the low windshield washer warning light came up on my dash. I rarely use it so found it weird. As I thought it was pretty full already. The warning only show up when its around 4 degree Celsius and doesn't show up when its around 10 degree.

My 2012 Sonota's message center has just recently come up with this message 'Low washer fluid' which will not go away. The car has a low windshield washer fluid light which is not 'on' (to indicate a low fluid situation). I have filled the reservoir which has done nothing to either status (the low warning message, or the low warning light). It seems to me the both indicators should be saying the same thing but are not. The windshield washers are working just fine. I would like to clear the warning message. Is there a way?

I am posting this here as it is in reference to the 5.4 motor but in a 2001 Expedition.
My wife was driving our 2001 Expo the other day and the warning light came on that the windshield washer fluid was low. When she got home I popped the top the re fill the washer fluid and there was what appeared to be green coolant in the reservoir. It even smelled like coolant.
It filled the reservoir about half way which made me wonder why even though it was coolant it made the washer fluid light come on. I then checked the coolant reservoir and it had fluid in it but it looked brown and nasty. The motor is the 5.4. What is going on?

I have a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Spews out under the car when I try to fill it up and then get the low washer fluid warning. Have always used washer fluid -20F formula.

How do I turn on the rear wiper without it spraying the window with washer fluid? I've followed the instructions in the manual for using the rear wiper, but very time I turn the wiper on it sprays the window with washing fluid. I don't need washer fluid sprayed on the window if the window is already wet from rain.

Just got in the car and the washer fluid low warning popped up on the dash. As I'm refilling it and get towards the washer bottle being full I see it leaking out the bottom of the car. The car hasn't had any impacts and it's mild here at the moment so the bottle hasn't frozen and cracked but seems to have just started out the blue. Otherwise, swap the washer bottle? I seem to recall seeing it when replacing one of my horns and can't imagine it's much of a job but you never know!

My 1.2 54plate Corsa has been dropping a very small amount of fluid its dropping from the front left hand side but not sure on exact location the fluid is to watery to be oil I think but is worrying me it seems to be covering a fairly large area under the car but it doesn't drop only in very small quantities?

I have recently replaced the clutch, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, Strut tower mounts and brakes on my 2002 Hyundai Elantra 5 speed. Everything is working properly but now I have a transmission fluid leak. I can not locate the exact location. It appears that it is dripping down onto the passenger side half axle where it connects at the transmission.

There are threads discussing problems with headlight washers not retracting (stuck open) but I haven't seen anything about the washers not extending. The passenger side works fine but the driver side does not extend. The pump, however, does seem to work because washer fluid flows from under the front of the car. Thus, the sprayer is spraying inside the bumper (probably not a good thing).
When I press the service button, the passenger side opens and extends but the driver side washer cover does not budge. What would be the best way to troubleshoot this problem? Is there a way to access the washer without taking off the bumper? Can the washer cover be pulled open (sounds like a bad idea)?

Big trail of clear liquid on garage floor this morning. Truck is dripping on drivers side to rear of drivers side wheel well. Not brake fluid. Trans or antifreeze would have a color to it and a smell. None of that. Was quite humid last night and I did have truck out for about an hour run time. Trying to figure what the heck this is. Don't want to waste my or dealer service time if it's just AC moisture.

problem with washer fluid - the motor seems to work, but nothing comes out of the tubes...
I know the motor works, cuz there is water all over the engine compartment (near the battery) and down... soaked there...
so, my guess is that the rubber has come off the pump? where is the pump first off, and second, how do I get to all that? - just remove the cowl?
any diagrams or photos would be great!

I have an 04 F250 and the driver side windshield washer doesn't spray on the windshield. It sprays a stream up high on the windshield. Is it possible to replace the spigot where the spray comes out? Is there another solution?

2010, 35k miles... didn't see that coming.
Looks like the hose is made of some plastic material that doesn't like flexing very much. I guess I opened the rear hatch enough times to break it.
Is this a common problem? Is there a proper size coupler available to fix this?

I have a 2006 with 15,000 miles and I have noticed under the front of the car on the passenger side there is some type of oil or fluid leaking. Its not leaking on the ground leaving a puddle its some type of build up. What could it be from? When in service for oil changes service never noticed anything. I am due for 15,000 oil change and want to have it checked.

I sent my T in last week because I was not getting "cold" air out of the passenger side vents, at least not as cold as the drivers side. The Dealer has acknowledged the problem but is having a hard time (with wvoa) finding a solution. They've returned the T to me until they can find a fix, hoping to keep from removing the entire dash.
I ran some tests of my own this weekend. When in ECON mode, both sides put out the same temp; only when the compressor is on do the temps vary. I have heard gurgling in the dash since I bought the T and when in ECON the gurgle goes away (compressor is off).
Question: Could the system be low on frion (or whatever coolant)? Are there two separate evaporators for dual zone? I'm thinking (hoping) yes on both. Maybe one evaporator is getting a full mix of coolant and the other is not......could this be the gurgling I keep hearing?
I'll bring the T in tomorrow and ask them to recharge the system if any of you agree with this theory. I hate to think the dealer will have to rip the entire dash apart to fix this situation.

Tonight when I was on my way in from taking the trash out, I happened to notice a puddle under my 04 Ford Escape. The car has been sitting in its parking spot for about a week (cold and mostly sunny weather, but some light rain, frost, and ice recently) so I figured it was just a bit of moisture from melting frost...worry wort that I am, though, I decided to investigate. It looked like it was in the area of my oil pan so I thought the size of the puddle warranted an investigation. I moved the car back a bit and tried to soak up whatever it was with a paper towel (soaked moisture up, but colorless).
I checked the oil levels (puddle was the size of a it small frisbee, so I have to imagine that if it were oil, I would notice a change in the levels) and saw no change since I last checked about a month ago. While I was trying to look like I know what I am doing, I noticed a new oil drop on the pavement - under the oil pan on the drivers side. I have replaced the pan gasket within the last 2 years and know that the car has a timing cover leak, but that has been fairly limited to the passenger's side.
The oil pan looked dirty, and showed SOME evidence of an small oil leak, but the other spot I noticed worried me a bit more: behind the oil pan (looks like it is almost center of the front axel) there is a fluid leak of some kind. Whatever the fluid is, it looks to be clear and has a slight hint of an odor (not sweet, not oily...sort of like stale water). When I turned the car on to back it up, I had the defrosters running. All in all, I would say they were on a total of 45 seconds, but the "water" is still dripping several hours later.

What could be the cause for a viscous fluid on the floor of the car on the driver's side. "White" smoke comes from the engine and it makes a noise. Car is a 1993 Volvo 850 stick shift.
