We are waiting for the front drive shaft? It all started a while ago when the Treg started squealing in the front when cruising, it's really loud now and very annoying. Dealer says it is ok to drive on (?). I can't believe it, this sounds not good, I kinda do not look forward to the big lock-up.
View 10 Repliesfor the last couple of weeks our 05 touareg has kinda been shakey, we knew it was time for a tune-up but hubby has been working crazy hours. Today it started squealing really loud every time he would let off the gas pedal. We went to to Midas and they said that it was misfiring in Bay 1 1-6. They told us that only VW would be able to fix it, but I found a couple of sites that sell them.
View 1 RepliesI've had this truck almost 2 yrs now. It is not a 4 x 4. The trouble I am having is on the driver side. What happened first was while I was driving it i heard a loud squealing noise then a loud pop. After that the truck seemed fine I checked under it and everything looked ok. After that I drove it to a couple stores did fine but i heard the loud pop again. Once I left the store I was driving on the highway and it jerked to the left and i heard a grinding/rattling noise. I put my flashers on slowed down and every once in a while it would still pull to the right but the grinding noise remained constant. I parked it waited for a tow and i turned the truck around and drove it up the ramp there was another pop sound but I didn't hear the grinding. It seems to happen on and off. And it doesn't matter if I am turning or going straight.
View 2 RepliesMy wife's 06 T-reg has started experiencing a squealing/whirring sound from underneath. The sound appears to be coming from underneath the back seat. It starts at appx 20MPH and continues as we drive. The sound doesn't get louder, it just continues.
Tonight when we got home, we also noticed a smell of something. Possibly a clutch-type smell. Am I looking at a transfer case going bad?
I have a 99 f250 4x4 super duty. Just started getting a loud squealing noise off and on in the front end. Changed the ujoints and axle seals on both sides. They where all in bad shape. It still makes the noise off and on while in 2wd. If I lock the hubs in it doesn't. What it could be ?

WILD, Loud sqealing, screeching metal on metal or maybe stone on metal sound coming from front passenger wheel. at first i was positive it was a pebble caught b/t the inside rotor and heat shield - i took the tire off and nothing there.. Also only really does it when I turn RIGHT.
View 13 RepliesI noticed when I take off quickly from a stop while turning left I hear a very loud ticking from the front left of the car. The ticking continues until I let off the gas and straiten the vehicle up. I can only hear it when I have the window down. It sounds like the lifters are ticking but I don't think it's that. I had the oil changed less than 4k ago and the oil still looks clean. I currently have about 25k on it. I tried to search the forum with no luck. What could this be?
View 3 RepliesAll of a sudden after coming back from an Alsp ski trip some sort of loud front drivetrain whine has developed. It's an 05 V8 with 4k miles on it. It's drivetrain because the whine scales with road speed and not engine rpm. It seems to only come from the front too. It starts to get real noticeable around 50mph and increases.
The odd part is I can turn the steering wheel maybe a quarter of a deflection either direction and the sound virtually disappears. I checked out the tires and the tear is good and no usual wear. I am thinking maybe a wheel bearing or a transmission output bearing. I just don't see how anything else could make this whine come out of nowhere so quickly.

View 12 RepliesOn my way home from work tonight cruising on the highway, heard a loud thump followed by continuous thumps thereafter. Knowing this wasn't good pulled over to find a nice big nail in my passenger side front tire, great. thought I could make it home, I was about 6 exits away...one exit later nail flew out and tire was loosing air.
- luckily for me, I had a friend who lived nearby the exit the nail flew off and put on the spare.... now my question is I noticed some camber wear on the tire.. 15,200 miles to be exact on the stock oem bridgestones.
- I know these tires are complete crap but... is this camber wear normal? I've seen other posts about it but, is it the tires? or something to do with the car? I am pretty sure my alignment is fine. If I buy a new set of tires eventually will this end up happening again? Trying to gain some knowledge for the future.
Also is it true that with AWD cars, if you change one tire you have to change all 4? because it might mess up the drivetrain or something, at least that's what I was told.
So basically- off and on for the past month or so -(but increasingly so) my kia has been making a very loud squealing sound whenever the ac is on (it would immediately stop as soon as the ac was turned off, no delay). I know I shouldn't have ignored it for so long- but now the ac has stopped working, no more squealing. Is this likely the serpentine belt or a pulley or something else? I will be taking it to the shop in the next few days...
View 4 RepliesYesterday, I heard a loud "pop" while cruising at 60mph. Pull into a rest stop and and discovered a hole in the muffler. The engine now idled roughly, but seem to smooth out about 2000 rpm.
Question for the experts: can the loss of a muffler cause the engine to run rough? It's a 460cid in a '77 F350.
My 2005 V8 starting intermittant stalling when stopped for a light/ when cruising at 40 MPH; the car restarts, runs for 30 seconds and then conks out. Had the car towed to selling dealing (3000 miles since end of April, 05) and now waiting for a diagnosis. Dealer claims they have never seen this problem before.
View 1 RepliesI have an 06 Touareg V8 with AWD, auto tranny. No leveling suspension. And when I drive it specially while my foot is on the gas at cruising speeds there's a grinding noise coming from under the car. When I step off the gas it is gone or when I am accelerating hard I can't hear it. What could it be? It's driving me and my ocd insane!! I think it is drivetrain related (differential, wheel bearing, etc.) but not the transmission as I can still hear it while coasting in neutral.
View 3 RepliesFor a few months now every time I start the car with AC on the belt squeals really loud. It's been getting worse so I need to fix it now. I just don't know if it's just a belt change or something bigger like the actual AC unit. I got the car certified pre owned in 07 and have never changed an engine belt on it so it's probably due. Here is a video of the noise, first part of video is without AC then I turn it on to here the squeal. Is this simple belt change or a deeper issue with the AC? [URL] .....

Every time I have a cold start on the car, When driving at low speeds and braking, it has a loud squealing noise. Once the car has been running and driving, it goes away and doesn't came back unless I park the car and get back in an hour or so later. I went to the dealer and the guy said it's "normal", said moisture gets in and needs a few minutes break apart and that's how Lexus designs their cars. Which is believe is BS.

I have a 2012 accent, while I drive this loud squealing happens. My car is under warranty but the techs have to hear the noise to do anything.
At 55mph the squealing gets so loud my music can't cover the noise. Around 70mph it goes away (still can hear slightly). When I come to a stop it keeps squeaking for few seconds then stops.
I have a 2012 Accent with about 83,000km. Back in the summer, I'd noticed an issue with it squealing when I first started driving it after it had been sat overnight or any extended period of time. After 3 trips to the dealership, they finally determined it was the serpentine belt and replaced it which did work. However, now a couple months since that, the noice is back and worse than ever. This is how every morning starts with the car now:
Reverse off the drive, press on breaks and hear a groan as I do so but no squeal. Adjust to 'drive' and accelerate and instantly hear a very high pitched squealing which continues until either a minute or so into driving or I drive faster than 50km/h, whichever comes first.
The level of noise it's making now is becoming unbearable. It's embarrassing and I'm worried something is seriously wrong. Just my luck too, the warranty ran out on the 18th of this month. I could probably catch a recording of the noise if needed.
I have a 2000 Grand Am GT that squeals loud. It squeals when it is parked and when I am using the gas, but usually it won't if I let off the gas while driving down the road. We have replaced the belt, the idler pulley, the belt tensioner, and got rid of the AC. My dad thinks maybe it could be the crank pulley... could that be the problem?
View 2 RepliesI have a squealing noise that seems to be coming from under the car when going 25MPH or over. It doesn't seem to vary with the rpms of the motor or how fast I'm going - it's either on or off with out much variation in pitch. Sounds like a dry bearing, but it's baffling as it will happen every time I drive for a few days, then will inexplicably go silent for a while.
