I was just wondering if there was a write up on how to swap out the headlight bulbs.

View 4 RepliesIs this any easier in my 2004 VW Passat than it was in my 2001 VW Jetta? In the Jetta, I had to disconnect the battery and dislocate my elbow and wrist in order to get my hand in the awkwardly placed compartment. Also, is it worth stepping up the original OEM to high intensity bulbs?
View 11 RepliesI have a 2006 VW Passat which has been eating low beam bulbs. I've probably replaced this one 4 times in the last 12 months. The last time I replaced was 2 days ago with a Sylvania bulb. Yesterday on my way to work it burnt out. Then on my way home last night I was pulled over by a cop for it. That really annoyed me.
Having issue with Passat burning through headlight bulbs? Do I need to have the wiring assembly checked or possibly replace the entire headlight assembly? I'm getting really tired of changing these bulbs so often.
I installed new headlights today and the headlight bulbs are not lighting. When I turn the headlight's on the high beam indicator remains lit no matter if the high beams are on or not. I should note that this style headlight has a separate bulb for low and high beams. I am skeptical that all four headlight bulbs are bad. Is it possible the wiring for the connector is not correct?
View 14 RepliesJust replaced my bulbs with the Garax 6000k and they look good but now my check engine light and VSC light is on. Problem started after changing bulbs? My pops said it should go away but we're not sure. Is there a way to reset it and get rid of the lights?
View 3 RepliesI have a couple of questions regarding changing out my headlight from halogen bulbs to an HID kit.
1st) What size bulb are the low beam (headlights)?
2nd) What HID kit would be recommended? I am trying to replace the halogen bulb with an HID bulb, a plug and play HID kit that will last but also does not reflect every where such as replacing reflectors with halogen to an HID kit.
So on the way home tonight my passenger side bulb went out. No big deal, I pull into the auto store and pick up a set of new bulbs. The problem is now that the light that went out is not working at all. I replaced it and reset the bulb to make sure it is tightly connected and nothing. Next I try the other working bulb in the passenger socket and still nothing. All other lights work. City bulb, high beam and turn signal works in the housing.
View 3 RepliesHeadlight bulbs. So I am looking to replace my bulbs because mine don't seem to have that great of light output. I am not sure if it is the actual headlight or if it is just the bulbs? Is it possible to just replace the bulbs and get better light output? I am not sure of the brand of headlights I have but I am pretty sure they are some cheap aftermarket ebay headlights. I want to replace the headlights in the future but for now I was wondering if I can get away with just replacing the bulbs. When selecting the bulbs, are they all pretty much universal or do I have to buy specifically for the type of headlights I have?
View 10 RepliesIt's time to change my bulbs as they are probably still the originals and getting a little dim and was just wondering what the general consensus on what the best ones are?also does the whole light have to come out to change them?
View 12 RepliesSwap out the LED dome lights in a 2012 Camry SE? I'm considering switching the bulbs out from the yellow tone stock lighting to the white lighting LED bulbs. I am also considering floor lighting that can be activated with the dome light switch and/or with the doors opening. The issue I'm having is that I would like them to be hooked up to the same switch that the stock lights are set up with. (So I can use the dimmer switch for lighting). Where I would be able to tap into the wiring for this? Is there a DIY thread somewhere?
View 3 RepliesMy friend with a 2007 SC430 has been having weird electrical issues for the past few years. He's owned the car about 6 years now, and probably 3 or 4 years ago things seem to have started acting up:
- the car burns out headlight and foglight bulbs very often, usually after less than a year since they are replaced. It hasn't mattered if the replacements he tries are OEM Lexus or aftermarket, they burn out within a year or so - sometimes within only a few months. He previously owned a 2002 SC430 for about 4 years and never had to replace any bulbs. On the 07, it's usually always one of the driver's side bulbs that will go first, and then within a month or two the passenger's side goes. Sometimes a headlight goes, then the foglight on the same or opposite side goes. Other times a fog goes out and a short time later the headlight on that side goes out.
- his driver's seat heated seat stopped working earlier last year. First the "bottom" stopped working, then a few weeks later the "back" section stopped too. Lexus diagnosed blown heating elements, which can't be replaced without replacing the entire section of the seat. So he found a complete seat from a wrecker and swapped it in. Everything worked fine for about 3 months, and now he is back to no heated seat again (this time both the back and bottom sections stopped working at the same time)
A Lexus dealer spent 4 hours "diagnosing" the car and came back saying all electrical systems are normal, so they can't say why the bulbs are always burning out or why two different seats have stopped working. The car is getting up there in mileage (closing in on 200K miles) but has always been properly maintained.
I've had HyperWhite bulbs on previous cars and they're great. Much whiter than the "yellow" factory bulbs.
What would be a close color match to my LED parking light which looks sort of bluish? The new parking light LEDs are 6000K color temperature.
I have a 2007 GS 430, 126,000 miles. Initially I had one faulty headlight that would not work but after turning the switch off/on, it would work again. Eventually both headlights started malfunctioning. After reading other forums, we elected to change the headlight bulbs. So far that has worked. However, after changing the bulbs, the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and check engine lights came on. After running the headlights and using the car to go to/from work with about 4 stops and restarts, the car reset itself and the warning lights turned off. Scared me at first because I had also just had suspension work done. However, the Headlamp Level Control System is part of the VSC system, which makes sense, just wasn't prepared for the warning lights.
View 1 RepliesI changed my headlight bulbs yesterday with D4S bulbs with 12K purple. After driving about an hour, the dash popped up a message saying headlight system failure, have dealer check headlight system. Both headlights are still on. I'm wondering why it is doing that? Hate to go back in and change it out again. It was a pita to change the bulbs.
View 2 RepliesLooking for a rundown on LED versus halogen headlight bulbs, especially output and life? Stock halogen bulbs using 55 watts have a 4000K output, and I notice the Chinese imports' output is 3200-3500K. Does that translate into less bright? Also, the windshield wipers shudder across the windshield a lot unless there's a huge amount of rain--changing to new blades didn't make any difference.
View 5 RepliesHow do you remove the Touareg Headlights to replace the light bulbs. I have fount the open close turn, but that doesn't release them all the way.
View 3 RepliesI just bought new DS1 8k bulbs to replace my aging 6k bulbs. It was a sinch to install and seemed too good to be true. Well i turn my car on and the check bulbs light came on and low and behold the lights do not turn on. The dealership said it would not matter whether I had 6k before and bought 8k but it seems like this might be the issue.
View 4 RepliesI have checked fuse 46 and 47, and installed new headlight bulbs. I have high beams, but no low beams. I have searched this topic but no one has the same prob it seems. My headlight switch has broken. Could it be the headlight switch?
In my manual, it says the 2002 has a fuse panel behind the glove box. I took glove box out but it doesn't look like a fuse panel.
I want to replace my headlight bulbs; I want to install 8000K in my low beams, and maybe 3000K in my hi beams. But all of the bulbs that I ever installed either; A the burnt out within few weeks (lost color), or B they stopped working.
Now, regular WHITE bulbs seem to work forever; but the color ones, burn out/break. Low quality?? I need a pair of very good 9006 8000K, and 9005 3000K. Again, but I don't want to change them in a week or two. I want them to last!!
P.S. 2005 Toyota Camry
I know the instructions are somewhere, but I am having trouble figuring out how to change the headlamp bulbs (high & low beams) on the easy side-driver side. Do I need to loosen the headlamp assembly or can I just go into the headlamp assembly without removing it?
View 3 RepliesI'm curious to know if it is theoretically possible to (some-day) swap out the V8 gasoline engine w. a VW DIESEL/Turbo power plant. Are any of the VW Diesel engines directly compatible w. the V8 transmission, mounting brackets, electronics, etc. etc. The Glow Plug indicator in the dash, though not required for me, would be nice to have as a reminder.
