View 16 RepliesI had to use my horn today on the freeway and it sounded like one of the horns are out.
View 11 RepliesI don't use my horn unless absolutely necessary. Well, today it was. Guess what? The Sounds of Silence. No horn, no how.
Turned out, the No. 16 fuse was, in fact, blown. What caused that, I don't have a clue. Replaced it and it is working again. Hopefully, not a harbinger of electrical gremlins to come.
I got my GTI exactly one week ago. I brought it to the car wash today. When I got home and hit the lock with the remote, the car did not make the "beep" sound with the horn. I unlocked it and checked all the doors and the hatch to be sure they were properly closed, and they were. Then, I hit the lock from the remote and the doors locked, but no "beep".
View 7 RepliesIs it possibly related to the blind spot detection system. I have had this happen to me once at an intersection (no lane change) and I thought someone was blowing their horn at me. My wife has had it happen on several occasions (never lane changes). This morning she was leaving he shopping mall at a stop sign and a car was coming down the cross street towards her (but not close) and there was this mysterious horn sound. I remember the salesman saying something about a warning sound when backing out of a parking space if a car was coming at you.
View 3 RepliesEvery time my car alarm goes off, the horn sounds like a clown car. The kids on my 10 year old baseball team even joke about it--its that bad. So, is it just me or are y'all embarrassed when the alarm goes off?
View 17 RepliesAm enjoying my 2014 Passat Sport, but would like info on how to turn off the horn from beeping when I lock the car.
View 8 RepliesJust got a 2007 Passat with 33k on it. So far, aside from he rock chip i got on the windshield on the way to work on day 1, I love this car. Put about 500 miles on it so far in less than a week. I have to do the typical stuff like replace the DV and cam follower, but, I do have 1 question. When I lock the car or hit the panic button on the remote, only the lights go on. There is no horn sound. But, when I press the horn, it works. Could it be a fuse, if so, which one? I looked in the manual and could not find the horn fuse on the diagram.
View 6 RepliesThe horn in my car started to sound like if it was going to catch a cold then it stopped sounding, however if I press the panic button in the keychain it does sound perfect. Where and what should I look for. Is it a relay, the spring contact on the steering wheel?
View 1 RepliesI would like to add the alarm /horn to the lights when I open or Close the car. It is possible?
Elantra 2013
If you push the remote lock button twice the horn beep is very load and startling. Can this be programed for a lower volume sound?
View 5 RepliesMy new Passat has the keyless locking system and ATA (anti Theift Alarm) and the ATA confirm is enabled . When I lock the doors the headlights flash but the horn alarm does not sound unless I lockthe doors twice. My 2014 Passat sel with the keylass lock system horn sounded when the doors were locked the first time. Also on the 2014 if the trunk is opened with the doors locked the horn would sound when the trunk lid is closed. This is not the case with the 2016.
I have been in contact with VW customer care. The rep has been trying to resolve the problem to no avail. VW is trying to tell me that due to consumer complaints the 2016 was changed to sound horn on the second locking.
This sounds like a copout to me when the ATA confirm can be disabled in the MFI settings.
I have a 2012 F-150 and I think the horn sounds very wimpy. Sounds like a little car horn. Personally, I think Ford needs to put a better horn on their trucks in the future. What have others done to put a stronger, louder, more impressive sounding horn on their F-150?
View 4 RepliesThe tone of my horn changes intermittenly from normal sound to high pitch. The high pitch sounds similar to a Japanese made 4 cylinder...for lack of a better description.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 V12 Phaeton with 50k miles. Wonderful car to drive but unending series of electrical and mechanical problems. On FM, the sound completely stopped. The receiver seems to be working since all radio stations are displayed on the screen. But there is no sound. AM and CD both work. The dealer took a look and told me that they couldn't pinpoint the problem and that I would have to replace the entire entertainment console.
Unrelated but also annoying, all within the last month: the horn stopped working (dealer can't figure out why), one of the windshield wipers stuck in the up position, drainage canals plugged resulting in backseat flooding after a heavy rain that shorted electrical connections in rear seat (the dealer said this was a widespread "design defect" in Phaetons and Audi A8's) and front passenger seat heater shorted burning a hole in the leather (and, almost, my wife's rear).
My '01 F-150 2WD, XLT has a foghorn sound coming from the left front side at idle after the 4.6L is warmed up. It goes away with an increase in engine RPM and is unnoticeable at hwy speeds. I have no codes (I have checked w/ my code reader). The service desk guy at the stealer said it is my abs pump going bad (I figured it was a pump of some sort, my 55 packard PS makes the same noise when almost empty-the system leaks). It also appears this is a stealer only part, and going to cost 6 or 7 benjamins to buy and probably another 5 benjamins too fix.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 5.4 power f350 that makes a fog horn pitched howling sound at idle. First instinct was a pulley. Started it with belt off and its obviously something else because it still made noise. Traced it down to a resonating sound from the intake. Specifically the hose from the IAC to the air cleaner.
From some googling, i decided to change the IAC. No real change. So I took off the resonator tube and thoroughly cleaned it, took off the throttle body and cleaned it, took off the top snout part of the intake and cleaned that put in a new air cleaner (the glue was separating on the old one) and reset the battery. Still makes noise at least 85 percent as loud as when i started. Am I missing something?
Today I turned my car on only to hear a brief static sound followed by no sound from any source, radio, cd, aux input . I was playing a cd when i turned my car off before if that matters. This has happened twice before, each time i turned the car off and turned it back on and the sound problem fixed itself. However, that little magic trick did not work. I have a 2004 treg.
View 2 RepliesI have no sound at all from radio,CD or Nav... nothing, nadda, zip. I checked with vagcom and all speakers show open circuit. It shows a DTC 00464. All of this followed an Output test performed on Controller 47 (Sound System) which worked fine.
View 4 RepliesLately I get a sound when I hit 45MPH or higher and it sounds like an old washing machine, it stops while presing the brakes or lowering the speed back to aprox. 45MPH.
View 6 RepliesSometimes when I start my car I wont get any sound out of my stereo; even the buzz is gone. The only solution is too turn it off and back on again. It happens every once in a while, a couple times a week. I think the car is not telling the amp to turn on. This is why the stereo is playing and there is no buzz.
