Touareg :: Floor Mat Lights Never Turn Off
Nov 13, 2003
I noticed last night that the Reg they gave us to drive has lights above the floor mats. They never turn off, is this normal. Also the rear head rest seem to be up about 2" higher than the seat. Even if you push the button on the bottom they do not go down any further. So when you look in the rearview all you see is 3 headrest. I caught that middle one out of the corner of my eye and thought i had a passenger with me!
The button on the center console next to the air ride says Lock under the picture of the t reg, it also has up arrow. what does that do? I pushed it a few times and nothing happened. I went to look it up but there is no owner's manual

I picked up my V8 yesterday. Overall great car. I spent several hours at the dealer working out little things and doing some shakedown driving. So I finally am ready to pull the trigger. I pay, they hand me the keys, and I am off. It's now dark, the dealership is closing, and I have to drive home. I get in the car and the floor lights in the front (where your feet are) and in the floor of the rear cargo area won't go off. I play with every control in the car and cant get them off. The overhead lights turn off - no problem. Then I get home and turn the car off. They still wont go off. I have to pull the fuse to get them off so it wont run the battery down. Then I notice that the red instrument panel will not go off either - end up pulling that fuse too.

I recently went camping and had the back lid up... and the light on the lower portion would not go out for an extended period of time...( at least 15 minutes long ) then if I opened a door I would have to wait again... the same with the interior lights of the storage area... any way to change the duration for this? had to finally use duct tape over the lights...

You can turn parking lights on on left or right side via the turn signal feature. I can't see a way to turn all parking lights on. What am I missing?

I have a 2003 Honda Pilot with about 152,000 miles on it. Recently while driving if i have the radio on or have my ipod hooked up, the volume will turn all the way down and the dashboard warning lights will turn on. It only lasts for a few seconds at a time but it happens very randomly. Sometimes it won't happen at all and other times it will occur every few minutes or so.After the few seconds the volume turns back up to its previous set level and the dashboard lights go back to normal. The way the lights come on seems pretty random as well. Sometimes it will just be the "parking break" light and other times it will be all of the warning lights. I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe a fuse is shorting out?

Just found out the passenger side is completely soak. I brought it in to a mechanic and he figure it was a sunroof clog. The ac water is coming out, but he poured like 2 bottles of water on the sunroof and only like a couple of drops came out. Should I be worried about getting wet under the passenger seat?

I have the 4-zone climate control and suspect that there may be a drain problem from the rear evaporator. Will take to the dealer next week.

I flushed my brakes this afternoon and all went well until I got in and found a red series of lights on the MFI stating "brake fluid". I touched the brakes and there aren't any. I pumped them 50 times or so and still the pedal goes all the way to the floor board. I used a machine I have used on countless other cars and have never had a problem before. I used VW brake fluid. The brake fluid container is right at the max line. The only thing that was different compared to the other cars I have done is that the Treg has two bleeders, one on the front of the caliper and one on the back. I called a VW service consultant and he told me they use the outside one to flush the brakes and so that is what I did. My only guess is there is air in the system. But, I am not sure at all how that happened.

My two month old Touareg has a leak! After driving in a heavy rain water accumulated on the front passenger floor. It looks like its coming from the ventilation duct behind the glove box or possibly through the firewall.

I drive a 1991 F-150 Lariat Extended Cab. Out of the blue, my brakes decided they didn't want to work unless the pedal is about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way down to the floor. As soon as I release past that 1/2 mark, they shut off. While this makes it great for tailgaters, it does not make it great for police officers.
We have already replaced the switch thinking maybe it was that, but alas it was not. I was reading in a couple difference places about the multiswitch? However, the symptoms other people had were similar, but not the same. I never tilt my steering wheel, so I dont know if that's the issue!

The floor lights in my car do not come on when I open the doors. What could cause this? The bulbs look good. Is there a separate special setting to get these to come on?

Starting yesterday I noticed that I could hear a sloshing sound when I turn the car. It sounds like pouring water. After some driving around my neighborhood I've found that I hear the sloshing sound ONLY when the AC is on and when I turn left. It also has a sizzle sound that reminds me of dropping bacon in a hot pan.
I laid down in the floor and looked up under the dash. It looks like there's a motor and it's leaking water. That doesn't sound like a motor should be wet...The motor type thing appears to be a cylinder and says Bosch GM-M on it along with some numbers.
The carpet mat in the floor is getting a bit wet as well so that leads me to believe that something under there is leaking water and I can assume that it's leaking onto something hot creating the sizzle sound.

2004 with 214000 miles. Brake pedal goes to the floor, red dash lights are flashing, I just added a container of brake fluid and still no pressure at the pedal. I'm guessing master cylinder.
My question is: Even though my brake pedal goes directly to the floor, how am I getting the car to stop at the very end of the push? Do the brakes somehow work as a fail-safe even the the hydrolics are basically toast? I know that's a long shot, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been shocked over systems in this car.

I have a 2004 Sport Trac XLT (without sunroof). I recently noticed my rear driver side turn signal was out. Turns out i have quite a few cables corroded from within. The cables are warped together as one fat cable running from the front to the back along the driver side in a "tunnel".
The reason for corrosion seems to be that underneath the floor it's soaking wet. It's dryer towards the break and more wet closer to the mid console. (it may just dry quicker near the break.
The water does not smell of anything. We haven't had rain for a while and i would be surprised if it was rain that staid for so long. All in all that makes me suspect the AC.
I'd like to stop the leak and then replace the cables, at least the stretch where corrosion have occurred. How to troubleshoot this? I am using the car to commute so I can't rip it apart too much.
