When we were driving our Touareg from the dealer, I (my dad did not notice) noticed that there was a faint whistling sound coming from the car. This happened on surface streets, not freeways, and about 35-40 MPH. Sunroof and windows were closed.

View 6 RepliesI have close to 60k on my V-8 and it has been virtually trouble free. The last few days I have heard what seems to be a whining or whistling coming from the drive train at the top of 3rd, then 4th,5th and 6th. Kind of sounds like metal to metal, but is a very quiet whistle.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Touareg TDI european model, with an anoying whistling sound somewhere in the drivers door or the b-pillar. The sound is not constant, but change according to the settings to the fan. I have been to the VW dealer, but they have not found any solution to my the problem yet.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 LS 460 Sport and recently noticed that there is a faint water sound coming from behind the glove box every time I accelerate from standstill and sometimes when the car is idle and the A/C is on. My initial thinking was that it is some sort of a clog in the A/C drain, and that's what I told my service supervisor at the most recent service at a Lexus dealership. They said that they could not find anything except for a bit of debris in the A/C drain, which they blew out, however the noise is still there. The best way that I can describe the noise is that it's similar to a noise that a rainstick makes.
View 3 RepliesI think I'm becoming an automotive hypochondriac ever since I started owning this car...I was sitting at a light the other day and all of sudden I heard a faint sound coming from what seemed to be the passenger side rear of the car. It sounded like a ticking clock or a heart beat...it was some what faint, but still noticeable. It is intermittent though and has no particulars when it happens and seems to go away when I begin to drive off... Fuel pump? Gremlins?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2009 XLT 4x4 and it has a faint squeal sound coming from somewhere. I can only hear it with the window open driving between 20 to 50 Kph after that road noise is too loud. First thing in the morning it is not there seems you need to drive for 10 to 20 Km before it starts.
Turning right it gets louder left it seems to go away. Braking has no effect on the sound.
I have warmed it up in the morning and it still takes the same distance to squeal. Had it in the dealer and they changed out a front wheel bearing but that did not fix the problem. Had them service the brakes to rule that out too.
yesterday I heard a faint rattle coming from under the hood while the a/c was on, when I had my son turn it off, it went away. Right now it's barely noticeable, but I don't want it to turn into something major. I own a '08 ES with 88,000 miles and all my service is done at the dealership.

View 2 RepliesIt is as an electronic whistle/humming. The sound is coming from the rear of the van, and no, not when it's moving, even though it still does it when moving. The only thing I can think of would be the fuel pump. Because It's loudest just before the rear tires, not after them. My fiancee has heard it twice now, when she first heard it, I didn't, but this last time when I heard it, I also noticed that the gas gauge was reading just below 1/8 of a tank.
Would like to know if it's the fuel pump or something else I'm no thinking of. And if it means I have to replace the pump.
I have recently noticed that there is a loud, high-pitched whistling sound coming from under my hood that has progressively gotten worse over the weeks. At first, it would only occur when I had my AC or heat on and would stop immediately once i turned the AC/heat off, and will also happen from time to time when I accelerate. Now, this noise is happening right when I start my car and takes a few seconds to stop.
View 4 RepliesOn our 2016, it's got this weird scratching sound.. It is so faint, but definitely noticeable. It SOUNDS like it's coming from the driver wheel area; or perhaps under driver dash/footwell. I've looked at the brake rotor/suspension and everything looks good.
It isn't solid either; it'll do it SOMETIMES with the brakes, on starts/stops, and SOMETIMES it does it going over a speed bump... It literally sounds like someone scratching their finger across the rough part of the dash...
Has rattle that sounds like it is coming from the centre of the dash? It sounds like a piece of tin sheet metal is rattling faintly. I wouldn't think a fuel line rattle would sounds like that, but maybe I am incorrect? Putting pressure on the dash with your hand doesn't seem to make it stop.
We also get the creek in the l/h side that I had assumed prior that it was from the door seal when the body flexes.
Hyundai Elantra 01 GLS. The main problem is that the airbag light is on and stays on no matter what. This is my girlfriends old car and she tells me that a couple people told her it had something to do with a faulty/corroded connection or something like that... I have been working on this car for about a year and I am finally to the point where I am just ironing out the little kinks. The old engine was bad along with a lot of other stuff, and I swapped it out for a good motor with less miles on it.
I also have recently replaced the alternator and instrument cluster just to name a couple repairs. Now the two things that I want to get settled are the airbag light and the check engine light. The check engine light comes on sometimes and I am almost positive it either needs a new 02 sensor or cat since when it was ran through a code reader those were the two options my mechanic told me it could be. I also hear a gurgling/crackling faint sound coming from the drivers side dashboard/engine area. I am not sure what this is. How can I get the airbag light off ?
Snap, crackle and pop sound coming from the vents in the front and rear when the heat is on. It sounds like rice krispies with milk.

View 15 RepliesNoticed hissing sound coming from the rear windows when the AC is on... It's very annoying so I always crank up the volume of the music. Funny thing is when you open one of the rear windows slightly and the sound is gone. I thought it was from the roof rack but it's not.......coz the sound is there when the car isn't moving too.....as long as the AC is on.....and the rear windows are closed tight.....
View 4 RepliesI have an 04, vin 70k+ V8, Nav/Air Susp. with 35k miles. My problem seems pretty specific:
I have a solid whistle in the front right area of the truck above very slow speeds. It really does sound like air moving, so I was thinking mirror/rack, wheelwell, etc. But, when I push the throttle, even a little, it subsides greatly...almost gone. That's what makes me nervous.
Of all the posts I read, the only one that seems like it might be my problem is the driveshaft bearing, maybe because of the torque, etc placed on it during acceleration (I'm no mechanic). I would think that any aerodynamic type problem would have nothing to do with slight throttle changes.
Am I on track? Common occurrence? Anything I should tell the dealer? I'll probably take all this to them when I do the 40k service. I also got a the running gear fault last week, but it hasn't returned. Do you think my Air Susp seals/piston rings are going too?
Experienced a wind noise that is very irritating at above 40mph?I am by no means being nit picky about either,it's very loud. The sound is best described as wind whistle.The frustrating part is that it is hard to pin-point and a search here turned up ....
View 11 RepliesI got my v-8 12-22-03, very pleased. however at exactly 53 miles per hour and higher a high pitched whistling comes from the right side of the sunroof, whether open or closed. The dealer is perplexed and stumped. Sticking my head out at 55 miles an hour is fun (very dog like and my son was driving) but no way you can hear anything and pinpoint the noise. It does not appear to be the roof rack which is properly installed and both in the rear. In the words of the teacher in ferris bueller..
