Well after 8 weeks on owning this touareg this is the second warning light we have to deal with and also had the dead battery scenerio which took 2 trips for them to fix.. Man this is crappy for sure. I am busy at work and do not have time to search around so any info would be great about another TSB that I have to take in to the dealership or anything.
View 3 RepliesWhen starting my T-Reg leaving work yesterday, the yellow exhaust malfunction light (located in the rpm guauge -- it looks like an engine but the manual refers to it as an exhaust malfunction) came on and would blink now and then and remain on.
I proceeded to drive home and the entire ride was choppy and the engine was hesitant and misfiring. When I arrived home, I turned the Reg of and then back on again and the light never came on. I drove it around the block and it was fine.
We have been experiencing tremendous cold weather in the Northeast (-20 to -30 with the wind chill). Reg started fine this morning, no light. Was this a function of the computer resetting itself?
I drive a 2005 touareg with 111,000 miles. We are faithful with ALL maintenance. This morning I woke up to my car covered in ash (due to all the wildfires in the area I live...Idaho) and my exhaust warning light came on. It is steady yellow. Not flashing. My car drives exactly the same. I tried to contact the dealer but have not heard back.
View 2 RepliesMy exhaust system light came on today shortly after re-fueling. I called the dealer and the service advisor suggested that I open the gas cap and re-close it making sure that it clicks. If that is the problem he said the light should go off in a few key cycles. There is no warning in the MFI. In the manual it says that there is an MFI warning about the fuel cap that says "CHECK FUEL CAP" and that the message will go away in about 10 minutes after you click the gas cap and restart the vehicle. I do not have anything in the MFI and it seems to be running just fine. (V-8)
View 4 RepliesOne morning I took the car out to the mall. Right away I had the ESP light on and stayed on the whole time. Tried turning it off with the ESP button to no avail. Got to the mall and let her sit for a few hours. Came back out and started the car and now two light are on. The ESP and Exhaust system malfunction. Found a thread that had the exact same problem as I did. He said the Mass airflow sensor must be bad. So the next morning I popped my hood to find out that a little mouse had made its nest in the engine and had bitten into the wiring harness that lead the the Mass airflow sensor.
I tore apart the tape and found that only the red wire had been chewed all the way through . I soldered the wire back together and re-wrapped the tape. Couldn't find any else around the whole car that was tampered with so I thought I was good to go. Started the car and both light are still on..Drove it around a couple more times to see if that would take them warning light off, and still no go. So I am guess this has to be removed by the dealer is the only way to go?

View 10 RepliesOkay, I had this before for the right side, and dealer changed bulb. Cost me alot. So, when I got this message recently for the left, went to my mechanic friend. Thought the bulb in question is the fog light in the lower bumper. He took out the old one, which was blown btw, and replaced it. Still getting the message. Not sure why.
How to address this? Are the curve light bulbs infact the driving lights, or is it something else. Thought it was driving lights as the curve feature is disabled if you turn them on. Also, the bulb was in fact blown. I guess I could have had two bulbs out, but that's unlikely.
Bought a mk4 1.8 gti golf last week and day after I got it I filled it up with petrol at Tesco. Since I did that, the engine management light has been on. It hasn't affected the drive or anything so haven't done anything about it yet.
One of the guys at work plugged in his computer thing to it to find out the fault and the code was coming up as 'cooling system malfunction'. He took the fault off so the light no longer comes on but now it makes the most horrendous noise like a grinder or something when the engine is running. I have not driven it anywhere and won't until it has been looked at but just wondered what others thoughts on it might be? Could the noise be something to do with the turbo? Had new cam belt, water pump etc at about 138000/139000 miles (November 2013) and hasn't done more than 10000 since.
This morning, during a routine drive to work in my 2007 Toyota Prius, my instrument panel lit up with the brake light and ABS light. The car braked normally, although when I tested the anti-lock brakes in a parking lot, the car slid and the ABS did not engage. I brought it to a shop - they ran a diagnostic and came up with a Malfunction of the Hydraulic System - right rear. They said I need to take it to a dealer for repairs. This car has cost me a lot in repairs over the last year...and with 170,000 miles, I'm not willing to put in a lot more.
View 3 RepliesMy T-rex was in recently for what seemed like 30 recalls... In the midst of it...my turn signal light bulb went out. They changed it...good thing cause you need to remove the ENTIRE headlight assembly with a special tool, etc. Well...my headlight now goes on/off as it hits bumps etc...was back in once to have it fixed...and has since started again. I noticed the entire assembly does not fit as well (tight) as it did originally, nor like the other assembly that has never been touched. Appears to have been the first assembly they have worked on and broke something cause now it does not mount properly...so after all that...
Had this headlight assembly removed?
On my way home from work tonight, the master warning light and the check engine (malfunction indicator lamp) appeared on the dashboard, and the hybrid system warning light has popped up on the multi-informational display.

View 2 RepliesMy exhaust emission light has been coming on intermittently lately . I had it to the dealer last week but the light wasn't on at the time. The computer showed no error codes therefor they had no clue. When I took it in this week fortunately it was on at the time and must have triggered a computer error( cam fault ) What could this mean? I am supposed to take it back in a week. It seems to run ok but my gas mileage has dropped off about 2 mpg. there is only 22,700 on the clock...

View 4 RepliesI tore it apart and there was no gasket or donut ring in the flange. Is there supposed to be a gasket or donut ring? I can feel the leak with my hand. I have retightened & it still "tick-ticks" real bad.

I have looked all over the net and can't find the size I know its a 1/2in socket but I need the thread pitch and size, had the parts guy try to sell me the stud and nut kit seem really expensive for just a nut and to install the full kit I have to pull skid plates and the trany supports just to start to get room to do the job, seems like a lot of work to replace 1 nut...

View 2 RepliesMy F150 exhaust seems rather quiet when I first start it up, but after it gets warmed up good, the exhaust is much louder (which I like). I started wondering if I had a crack up front that widened out when it got hot, so looked under it when I got home today with it hot and still idling, but didn't see any cracks. Also I did not hear any noise like a leak. All sound was coming from the side exit pipe. So... what is the phenomenon that would cause this?

View 5 RepliesOk, probably about 1/3 times i start my 96 f150 4.9 with true duals, the left pipe has a higher pitched howling noise, its a steady tone whether I rev the truck up or not it just gets louder. It will do it for about 6 seconds and then stop. The truck doesn't run badly because of it, but i took her to autozone to get her scanned and they said that the oxygen sensor on the first manifold bank has a slow response on startup. Is that what causes this strange noise, I don't even know how it would make it, it sounds much different from the engine. The right pipe doesn't do anything.
