I went to fill up the Treg with windshield washer fluid and noticed that the rubber sealing strip that goes around the engine area and seals the area where the hood closes has come off the tract and will not stretch back. How important is this? Just one more problem to add to the list.
View 1 RepliesI have grown extremely irritated over rattling inside the Touareg and decided to listen closely in an attempt to identify the guilty panels or whatever is causing all that noise that makes the cabin of my 2004 Touareg sound like the interior of a 1994 Ford Explorer with about 200,000 miles on it.
I identified the rear seat bench as a noise generator a while ago. I wrapped electrical tape around the latch bolts, but that didn't work too well. It seems that the rear middle arm rest rattles quite a bit in itself. The rest of the rattling seems to comes from the rear seat backs, but this is old news.
I noticed that the door panels (or at least that's what I thought) on the driver's door and right rear passenger door were rattling and creating a lot of noise. However, as much as I tried to hit (lightly) the door panel with the palm of my hand on different areas of the door panel, I couldn't get it to make the same noise.
After listening closer while I drove, it sounded like the doors themselves weren't quite closed. They sounded like they rattled on their latches. Something like taking off with a door ajar, but the noise isn't as pronounced. Then I remembered that every once in a while, during a visit to my friendly local car wash, water was entering my vehicle and accumulating on the rear seatbench. Upon closer inspection, I would notice that the water was getting in easily between the rubber door seal and and the door sill.
Two days ago, I decided to check something, and low and behold, I think I found the problem. Those two problem doors don't shut as tightly as the other two silent doors. I ran my fingers along the door crack near the door handles on all four doors and discovered that the two noisy doors "stuck out" some. Just a few millimeters (maybe 1 or 2 at most). I then tested it with a flat edge and it was even more apparent. I then stood behind the vehicle (far rear left and far rear right) and looked straight down the vehicle's edge and noticed that those two doors were sticking out.
I tried to loosen the door latches on the door sills to move the latches in a little, but I found that a T-40 torx is too small and a T-45 torx is too large. In fact, the T-40 worked on the top bolt on both front door sill latch hooks, but would strip the bottom bolt on the same door sill latch hooks. Those 8 point bolts are not torx (duh). I'll have to wait till Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) to get this rattling fixed. I really hope that this eliminates most of the noises I am hearing. I notice that the front right door doesn't make any noise, and I also notice that that is the one door in the vehicle that needs to be shut extra hard in order for it the shut the first time. If it's not shut hard, it usually takes two or three tries to get it to shut. My 2003 GTI did this as well, with the very same door.
How are you going to remove the chrome strip on the rear bumper. Mine got damaged and I need to replace them with a new one.
View 5 RepliesJust picked up a 2005 Prius a few months back with 60k miles on it. It had an open recall related to the steering column so I took it to the local dealer for inspection. Well, they found it has a front axle seal leak and had a couple questions for the forum related to that.
1) It has not dripped a single drop of fluid in the time I have had it, so where would I look under the car to see the leak?
2) Anything else I should have them replace while they are repairing this issue?
Picked up the T-Reg on thur. Black w/teak V-8.! Had the factor hitch installed? Service dept indicated a change was needed in the on board computer to adjust for the additional strain that towing will put on the drive train. What may have been changed?
The trans does not seem to shift as easy as when I drove it first, it could be just the amount of time that I spent in it on the test drive run. If you leave from a stop and try to leave smoothly it is a little harsh, not as smooth as the A-6 Avant with Tiptronic that we had.
I was trailing the other day in "sport" mode and the tranny kept going into 6th gear. Is the only way to lock out 6th is to use tiptronic mode?
View 6 RepliesI have an 07, V6 with about 200 miles, no mods, here are my two challenges:
1. At about 60 mph to 70 mph I get vibration in my steering wheel. Before I bot the vehicle the dealer said they checked the alignment and proper air pressure of the tires and everything looked good (I told them what the vehicle was doing). The weird thing is it doesn't always do this, usually every other time I drive it.
2. I programmed the car to beep when I lock it which now it doesn't beep anymore and the light switch near the compass that you can select the light to turn on when you open the doors works, but never turns off when you close the doors so I have to turn the switch off.
V10 TDI doesnt give any boost when accelerator pedal is flattenned. What could be wrong.
View 2 RepliesThe oil pressure gauge in my 04 v8 treg doesn't move until I drive it for about 15 minutes. Is this normal?? When THE BEAST is idling it takes about 15 minutes to pass 60 on the oil pressure gauge. I find this very odd.
View 3 RepliesMy 2004 Touareg V10 TDI drives like something's not just quite right, although hard for me to put my finger on. Essentially it feels sluggish, like it doesn't downshift to accelerate as quickly as it should, and like the automatic shifting is slightly jerky. This stuff is all even more noticeable at slower speeds and going up hill, but I think it's true even on city streets.
It's happened a few times, going up a fairly steep hill, that it seems to lose power and I can't get it over 20 or 25 mph even flooring it. Then when I turn the vehicle off and then back on, it can go more or less like normal again. Still, "normal" feels to me like something less than it used to be. I've recently changed the oil and all the filters (air, oil, fuel).
The dealer's service department says they can't find anything and the computer is not giving any error codes, but I know that it's not driving right.
I took the T-REG to a dealer today because I noticed the drivers door (more precisely the bottom corner towards the rear) doesn't close well, and the vehicle itself pulls to the right. I got a call back from the service manager stating that the door is actually bent!!! He states that the reason the vehicle pulls might be due to the bend as well!!! He advised me to call the dealer I actually bought it from and bring this up with them!!! I bought it with 103 miles it now has 203 (the extra miles are actually to just bring it to my house and drive it to the dealership)What should I do!!! Is the door actually repairable; the service manager states it is impossible to fix it because how it is made and installed!!
View 7 RepliesI have an 04 V6, 42,000 mi. There is an intermitent problem with the transmission. The MFI display doesn't hilite the transmission mode (P,R,N,D,S) or gear (1,2,3,4,5,6) and the tiptronic mode appears to be disabled. On occasion the transmission doesn't want to shift into higher gears. Seems to happen when the engine is cold (So Ca cold, not Mid West cold).
View 4 RepliesTemp gauge not working stays at C doesn't move at all. And smelling anti freeze while driving. The heat still works and not wet on carpet of passenger side. Does have an oil leak I think since I've had to add more oil again. Would that have anything to do with an antifreeze smell tho? Just checking before I have it looked at it. Also the gas gauge just floats that hasn't worked in a while though.
View 5 RepliesProblem started several weeks ago when after starting vehicle the battery light came on and vehicle would not accelerate. Turned off vehicle and restarted and ran fine for a week. Last week same problem, but occured mutiple times at one location. Eventually got vehicle going and drove it homehome Vehicle ran fine the whole time. Now when starting it runs for about 15 seconds (with battery light out) and shuts off. When trying to keep running by feathering the accelerator it has no power and eventually dies. Ran VAG-COM but got no faults.
View 6 RepliesI just had my treg serviced. One of the tsb's performed was the remote antenna fix. Range is much improved but one problem; the center button on the key remote which used to open the rear hatch doesn't work anymore. Now when pressed, the lights flash and the hatch does not open. I checked the comfort settings and they are still set at unlock doors and hatch.

View 1 RepliesI have 2006 Touareg with original keyless ignition . But unfortunately it stoped working . It writes in the dashboard screen that the key not found . I replaced the key battery but it is still the same . The car doesn't open automatically as well . What could be the problem ?
View 1 RepliesThe LED strip on my headlights stays on all the time on my 2010 golf. Ignition off, headlight switch off, keys out, car locked. Everything!
So far I've been able to trace the problem back to the stock wiring harness that plugs into the back of the headlight. I'm getting a constant 12v from one of the wires on the harness.
Any relay that the headlights are connected to or where I can find it?
I just noticed today that the top part of one of the LED strips on my 2014 Elantra was out. I don't even know how to change the bulbs for these or if it's even possible. The car only has 22k miles on it so it's kind of concerning that an OEM led would burn out this fast. Should I take it to the dealer and ask them to replace it or is this something I can do myself? Am I SOL?
View 5 RepliesI have swapped out my 2008 Headlights for 2012 LED ones. However, the LED strip is not coming on. I followed the below thread and grounded that green wire as shown, and ran the red wire to the ig2 fuse box on the drivers side and nothing. i also tested it from the battery and nothing as well.
View 14 RepliesCare finally runs well and passed inspection. So I can legally drive it at speeds. Noticed what feels like widely space rumble strips when coasting 2003 explorer. I am now trying to check all my fluids ... trans seemed a bit low (PITA), rear and front differentials seemed full... but should they be checked with the engine running or off??
