This light went on after i was about 1/2 way though a tank of gas. After i refilled it the sensor went off. This occurred on and off for about 2 weeks. Now the light has stayed on for a few days, than turned off for a few hours. Well now its back on again, any issues with this sensor? I think its just the sensor and hope its not something major. It stays light the entire time and does not flash.

View 7 RepliesOn New Years day the water pump on my Golf MK4 broke and all coolant leaked out. I had that replaced together with the cam belt. When I got the car back, the next day when the car was starting from cold I noticed it was very rough when idle, car about to stall then RPM jumps, drops and jumps up again. I drove for a minute and when stopped at some lights, the car juddered and "Emissions Workshop" warning came up along with 'ECU / engine warning light' and 'Brake system / brake fluid warning light'. Drove a couple more minutes and all warnings disappeared. Was fine for rest of the day.
Same thing happened the next morning. Once warmed up it is fine for the rest of the day unless the car is left undriven long enough for it to be completely cold. I know nothing about cars so have relied on my local garage. I was told the diagnostics reported a fault with the coil pack so had that changed along with plugs and leads. The next morning the same problem was still there. Then told could be coolant temperature sensor so had that replaced too. Still same problem.
I have a 2004 B5 130BHP and the display occasionally reads Emissions Workshop.

I get the P1128 code and Emissions Workshop warning most of the year, then it cycles off in the summer. It went off yesterday, back on today, and I imagine it will go off again for weeks/months as the weather heats up.
Things I've tried so far:
Replaced MAF sensor
Replaced MAF wiring harness
Replaced front 02 sensor
Replaced air filter
Replaced cracked vacuum tubes, at least those accessible from the top. Some of the hidden lengths theoretically could be at issue but a mechanic said they were ok.
What I've not replaced is the secondary air pump. (Mechanic told me it's dry and checks okay.)
On Sunday the high-pitched beep went off while driving, followed by the orange engine light to the left of the speedo needle and EMISSIONS WORKSHOP coming up on the computer.
Everything is normal. Revs are fine, temp is fine, no other lights come on. I checked the coolant and that is fine too. This happened about two months ago, but it stopped after a couple of days.
Could this be something like an O2 censor?
My B5.5 is about to hit 110K and in the past 12 hours, the STOP! low oil pressure warning light has come on during a right hand turn. Is this an indication issue or a no oil pressure issue?
View 3 RepliesMy ESP light has been turning off and on by itself the last few weeks. It doesn't happen too frequently but it's bothering me... Sometimes the light is on when I turn on the car and sometimes it turn on when I'm driving normally. The light is not flashing and when I stop the car and kill the engine and then re-start the car, the light turns off! What could be the problem? The car drives just fine, I just want to fix whatever it's wrong before I get stranded and the car is a 03' Jetta 1.8T.
View 3 RepliesTook '05, (package 5) to dealer for 70k maintenance yesterday for trip tomorrow. Got new tires, this, that, the other. On the way home the headlight leveler warning comes on, goes off, comes on, goes off.
Back to the dealer, he says it's just "it's time". I am driving 500 miles tomorrow for vacation. He says the headlights are properly aligned and it's probably just the sensor and I can have it fixed when I return because this won't be quick.
I don't know if I can tolerate that darn chime going off every 10 minutes for 1000 miles. Is there any way to turn off the volume of the chime?
I want to turn off my DRL. I asked the dealer about it and he acted as if I was going to commit a sin. Is there a way I can turn off my DRL? I have searched the site and found steps on other vehicles and didn't know if those were true for the Touareg. How do you all feel about DRL?

View 5 RepliesJust over 2000 miles on trex and i just got an "insufficient coolant" warning light this evening. the car had been idle for 2 days or so (i.e. cold start) and the warning light came on. I was running a short errand -- and when i re-started the car to come home, the warning did not come up. A couple of questions...
1) I checked the floor of my garage; I'm not leaking fluid. how could this have happened?
2) If the light didn't come on during the return trip, is everything ok?
3) Checking the manual, it says that i must use a specific type of coolant if I'm going to top it off myself --
So over the past few weeks I've grown accustom to my airbag warning sensor and light on, a lot.
First time two weeks ago - Airbag light came on, brought it in...Repaired wiring harness reset light. Light comes on next day, make an appt.
Second time today, brought it in...Just picked it up, fired up the Treg airbag light comes right back on. I was told another harness was repaired and something about a side airbag firing something...
So my third time is in the next week or two... fab. They say the whole harness is to be replaced, which is cool. I respect my service team, the engineers as well... I'm going with the flo, I'm pretty laid back.
My questions is...How long do I need to go with the flow if this keeps happening? All the while this is going on, for every issue I have that's super legit airbag, stepper, running gear. They keep giving me the hook up on, new wood trim, new headlight switch, new mirror switch, new buttons on my center console, new buttons on the nav....
I have a VW Touareg 2003. The coolant warning light on the dash keeps coming on and is using 5lts of coolant for every 3 tanks of fuel. Also the oil light has also started coming on. I have had a look around the engine and underneath on the road and have found no signs of leaking. Where the coolant and oil are disappearing to.
View 6 RepliesWhile driving this morning and entering the highway, the light with the triangle came on, I stoped the car right away. Check engine oil levels and turn car back on. Now engine light and warning light stay on, all temp and pressures ok.
Drove to the dealer car feel fine but the screen does not show the gear you are on while driving, blank.

No major problem, just had the warning appear but lights seemed to work normally. I could reproduce the problem once and then it stopped. What is the cause/solution identified by VW?
I drive a 2005 touareg with 111,000 miles. We are faithful with ALL maintenance. This morning I woke up to my car covered in ash (due to all the wildfires in the area I live...Idaho) and my exhaust warning light came on. It is steady yellow. Not flashing. My car drives exactly the same. I tried to contact the dealer but have not heard back.
