I don't have the Touareg with me today (I guess I don't most days anymore, but that's another story...) so I don't know if it's int he manual, but this weekend while futzing around with the hitch wiring install, I noticed a small rubber ring/release belowthe CD changer area that stuck out into the little cargo cubby hole. I pulled it and the gas door opened.
View 6 RepliesHad this issue on my first Touareg as well as the replacement. When you pull the emergency release handle (firmly and all the way) it doesn't fully release the brake. You realize this when the vehicle begins moving and you get the "Release Emergency Brake" message in the MFI.
They replaced the emergency brake assembly. The service rep told me before he returned the car to me that his tech was less than satisfied with the design of the hydraulic assembly and that he expected it to develop the issue again. He was right. Two weeks later the thing is sticking again.
I just noticed today that the trunk release button in the driver side door doesn't do anything. Does it suppose to pop the trunk or glass? Just wondering!!
View 8 RepliesI hear the electrical activity of the door lock mechanism.....locking and unlocking the door but the door latch is "frozen" closed and will not release. Inner and/or exterior door handles fail to release the latch no matter how many times they are pulled. Red Led on the top of the door pannel functions normally.
View 4 RepliesThe dash DRL indicator comes on most of the time when I release the emergency brake. It seems that other times it doesn't. It also seems the indicator turns off after about 20 minutes. Does this sound normal, or does it sound like I have an electrical issue?
View 11 RepliesSeveral months ago I noticed that the fuel door switch on my '09 Sonata started to work worse and worse... would take two, three, four hits before the lid opened. Fast forward to now. While the door opens perfectly fine with the manual release (in trunk), the button no longer works no matter how many times I press it. When depressed, no noise is noticeable in the fuel door area. What the root cause is and what the fix should be? Is this something only a dealer can properly diagnose? The trunk release button still works fine both on the remote and in the car.
View 5 RepliesWhen I step on the brakes during traffic & released it to roll the wheels, I hear the brakes squeaking a few rounds & then it will disappear. It sounds like the brake is still engage with the rotor & doesn't fully release until a few roll. This happens more during warmer days.
View 6 RepliesMy friend has a 2001 passat and the release button for his gas flap(door) doesn't work. He looked through the trunk to see if there is an emergency cable or a possibility to get it open some other way, but no luck. How he could open it if the button doesn't work??
View 1 RepliesA thin blanket is caught in the lock of the rear hatch door. I have removed the cover on the utility box inside the car, and moved the lever but that did not work. I can hear the mechanism working when pressing the unlock but the door does not release. I tried pulling the blanket but it does not budge. I don't want to cut the blanket away because I could not reach what is stuck in the mechanism.
View 3 RepliesThis happened a few days ago, that the driver's side door handle does not release the latch and let the driver door open. we can open the door fine from inside. the remote key un-locks/locks the door fine. What I've tried :
- Slamming the door hard a few times,
- Pulling both the inside and outside door handles at the same time
- Greasing the latch mechanism on the door end (what hooks onto the latch)
Today I removed the lock cylinder, but from what i can see with the cylinder removed the door handle looks ok (no broken or missing pieces). What would be the next thing to do?

I have removed the panel cover; cables are out - door is still stuck! Is there a way to release the latch? It is the driver side back door - 2001 Lariat.

View 31 RepliesYesterday went to fill up and the push feature on the fuel door would not open it. The door would pop out about 1/4 inch and would not release open even with a forceful tug. Played with it for some time pushing and couldn't get it to release. I actually left the gas station with no fuel. when I got home it worked fine so back to the gas station. Never had this Issue before and I go through fuel like its my job.
View 6 RepliesIts a 2009 sonata 2.4L auto. The button on the remote for boot works & I can open the fuel lid from the boot manually.
I am in perth.
Since I had my '02 I've had the child safety lock on the passenger side rear door on (active). I went to disable it (you know, stick the ignition key in and turn it 90 degrees to the side without the child's picture) and I'm still unable to open the door from the inside.
Everything else with the door works fine. The power locks work. Even pulling the handle twice pushes the lock button to the up position. And opening the door from the outside works as it's supposed to. The only thing I cannot do is open the door from the inside. Have I missed anything?
Happened on my mk6 now on the 20th! When I go to hit the switch for the gas tank release it is completely silent. Could that be the module? Half a tank left so not to worried about bringing it somewhere.
View 2 RepliesThe following have stopped working (at the same time if I remember correctly): power door locks, power mirrors, power trunk release and rear defroster. We are also getting a tire pressure fault warning when the tire pressure is ok. As far as other items located on the drivers door, the power seat adjustment and power windows are still working. I checked every fuse in the interior box and the the rely ant fuses unde the hood. I exchanged the big, square, grey fuse for the rear defroster with the one for the starter and still no luck with that issue.
View 5 RepliesHad my car parked outside of work for about 12 hours yesterday, and in the NYC cold front, the parking break must have stuck on slightly. When I started to move, despite the fact I'd released the parking break, I received a warning in the MFI that said PARKING BREAK FAILURE TO RELEASE. I pulled the handle again and heard it pop just a little more off. Everything worked great after that. If I hadn't received the alert I probably would have driven off with it on. I'd probably have noticed the hesitation and checked the break again, but the alert was useful. Some of the warnings in the MFI can appear to be a pain at times, but it's amazing how thorough a job VW has done monitoring the cars systems and giving real time information if something doesn't work. You just have to make sure you don't get info overload from it all!!

View 7 RepliesWhen shutting down/removing the key all doors unlock (not just the driver side - which is the norm in the CC and other previous VWs). Selecting "Drivers Only" via settings only changes the key fob operation. Same for others?
