View 11 RepliesRecently there has been a series of problems popping up with the Prius. Its a 2003 model year.
- About four nights ago the warning icon and check engine light (picture below) popped up upon engine start-up and i noticed a weird idle. It seemed to idle rough. After about 20 seconds of idling the engine would shut off. After about 10 minutes and 6 or 7 attempts to restart the engine the warning lights disappeared and idle seemed to be restored.
- The afternoon after that the same warning icon and check engine light popped up along with the rough idle. After about 10 minutes and 6 or 7 attempts to restart the engine the warning lights disappeared and idle seemed to be restored.
- After this incident it seems like the vehicle is getting bad gas mileage. The picture below shows me getting an average of 25mpg. I was driving very conservatively. Driving the same way i usually do, i usually get 45-50mpg. The vehicle seems to be charging the battery more than usual.
I'm cruising around and noticed the engine icon warning light go on and stay illuminated. The manual says it is an "exhaust system problem" like an oxygen sensor, and to reduce speed and have the engine checked at a VW service department. I would like to drive back to Evanston (Autobarn) tomorrow but it is about 90 miles from here. I restarted the car in the hopes of it just being a glitch but the light remains lit. Can I do any damage by driving 90 miles. The car seems to still run fine but I am concerned about a breakdown because I have to travel through a few rough areas.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2001 toyota that I was driving yesterday. I parked my car on the side of the road for 2 minutes to find something in the car. Randomly after a minute of being parked the car suddenly flashed the red triangle on the dashboard as well as the check engine light.
Also as well on the main computer screen where the radio stations normally are displayed a Problem alert appeared. It shows the PS icon, the Battery Icon, and the Red Car exclamation icon. Only the Car Exclamation point is red.
As some basic steps I tried (Because I don't know that much about cars) I opened the hood when the engine was off and cold and checked the air vent filter to see if it was clean. I cleaned just in case. I also check the gas cap to see that the cap was closed tightly. Also checked the tires air to see if that could be the case. Oil was looked at by me and I didn't see anything abnormal as well.
I have experienced an intermittent fault warning alarm and light that comes on sometimes right after starting my 04 Touareg V8 with air suspension: "Fault: Running Gear Workshop". It has been to the dealer once and they could not find anything wrong so they reset the alarm and since it has continued.
View 1 RepliesTruck was in shop 10K service on Thursday (4/7) and as soon as I started the truck on Friday I have the Air Bag/Seat Belt Pretension light on showing up in dash. The light is one but no MFI fault reported.
Why indicator light coming on just after service? I did not pick the truck up at the shop on Thursday so I cannot say if it was on immediately after 10K service. Shop asked me to drop the truck off Sunday night. Site Search came up with several items that could cause this malfunction.
Took the wifes Treg in today for:
1. Crazy vibration at idle (feels like a V8 running an aggressive cam!
2. Running Gear Fault light on at random
3. Loud "ting" noise under WOT (sounds like a soda can in a bicycle wheel.
4. Onstar - Service not recognizing spoken numbers when trying to dial
5. Air Compressor - works for 5-10 seconds then shuts off, have to restart vehicle to get another 5-10 seconds of air
I had the service manager take a ride and identify all the complaints (other than the compressor and the Running Gear Fault)..he said he will stay on top of it. If you recall, last time I took it in for the vibration at idle, I was told that since no fault codes were present, their is no problem. When sitting at a light your head is literally bobbing up and down, everything loose in the car is shaking...just horrible.
They should have it for a while. I got a Treg V6 as a loaner and actually like it better than the V8 (my wife disagrees). Power is onpar with a vehicle of this size/weight. Felt great, but handed the keys to the wife and grabbed mine and RAN!!!!
Got in my car yesterday and the airbag light on the dash stays on and a airbag fault message pops up in screen next to the speedo. What could be the problem?
View 3 Replies2009 Ford Explorer, 6cyl, 4L, 33K miles. When its started up, the message "Tire Sensor Fault" appears along with the low tire icon flashing (steady light after ~30 seconds). I can then press the reset button on my dash to clear the message. However, the tire light icon stays lit. I've checked and re-checked the tire pressure in all the tires (spare included) and I'm right at the recommended 32-34 psi on all the tires. No signs of leaks at all. I'm assuming one (or more) of the tire pressure sensors have gone bad and there's no way for a garage (or myself) to identify which one or repair this. Should I assume a trip to the dreaded dealer for this problem ???

My car is a 2005 Mazda-RX sport. It was parked outside in the -14C Celsius and towed away to the next street .I now notice, for the first time, that the engine warning light is on constantly as I drove it today.Yesterday, it was the TCS/DSC light that was on constantly but that was not the case today!According to car's manual it could be either the engine's electrical system or exhaust gas cleaning system. It also recommended that I should drive it slowly and take it to a Mazda dealer immediately. Needless to say that while driving it today at top speed engine sounded perfectly Ok!Waht could be the actual problem ,if any, and what should I do?
View 2 RepliesI bought a certified pre-owned VW Jetta 2012 in August of 2013 that had 4,500k miles on it.. I currently have 60,000 miles on it. (I drive a ton)... but ever since I bought it my engine makes this jolting feeling when I slow down. it comes and goes and gets worse when I am due for an oil change. I have taken it to the dealer several times about this issue and they say that german engineering...I think differently. My engine light constantly comes on and my problem is still not fixed. What the issue is??? I am clueless about cars.

The other key works fine.I'd like to replace the battery myself and reprogram the key (if necessary) instead of leaving it at the dealer for a day. How to open the key and reprogram? I looked in archives and the one set of instructions doesn't work. Nothing in FAQs.
View 13 RepliesThis morning during cold start up I noticed my check engine light was on constantly, I was able to get a OBDII scanner from a friend and perform a scan after work and brings up P0116, google search says HYUNDAI - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance.
I did notice the radiator fan seemed to be running all the time. I had a look at the coolant level and it's near the full level line (green color if that matters). My questions is it safe to still drive it to the dealer (30 km away)? Would this be part of the powertrain warranty?
Since my wife is out of town i took her car as I did not want to cause any damage.
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport - 2.4 AWD - mileage is at 67,000 km.
