I noticed yesterday that my driver side xenon light flickers when driving... It's a bit annoying and i can notice it more now. Going to the dealer again on monday, I have my DRL Vagged, wonder if they are going to give me hell about this.
View 7 RepliesTroubleshooting a headlight problem on a 2004 V8 Touareg. Driver's side xenon low beam flickered rapidly and then quit working. I replaced xenon bulb with OEM part, still not working. Swapped in known good bulb from passenger's side, still not working. Took to dealership, who said it needed new ballast, which dealer would be happy to install for a mere $900 in parts and labor. Declined dealer's offer, ordered new replacement OEM ballast (from Chrysler dealer for several hundred less than VW), installed new ballast, still not working. Cleared all fault codes using VAG-COM, still not working. Swapped in known good ballast from passenger's side headlight, still not working. Auto-leveling is still working in both lights. So...not the bulb, not the ballast. Wiring harness, perhaps?
View 3 RepliesI'm new to Volkswagen, never had one before. Just bought my buddies 2003 GTI 20th anniversary #106. My bud install glass projector headlights, which he has the projector as his DRL's and for some reason when you release the E brake, which turns the DRL's, the projector lights on, they flicker and only the driver side stays on leaving the passenger side off. If I pull the E brake back up to turn them off and back down again it flickers on but won't stay on. Sometimes it does switch sides to where the passenger side works and the driver side doesn't but its the passenger side that mostly has the problem. Now I can continue to do this and eventually after 3 or 4 pulls of the E brake i can get them both working. I'm OCD about these little things like this and i want it to work right.
View 4 RepliesVery much enjoying my newly acquired CPO sc430 but there's a strange thing that I noticed: When I go over a short-bump or hit a patch of broken pavement, the driver's side headlight seems to flicker for just a split-second. Sometimes it even seems like the other one flickers too. What that can be? Is it normal for this car?
Also, my car has the dreaded brake-clunk that has been discussed in this forum ad nauseum. Is it worth taking it to the dealer even assuming they know how to adjust the clips and grease the system to get rid of it? How long does the "fix" last? I had a 2004 acura TL that did this from day 1 but only on the initial brake application after starting the engine. The SC does it every time I shift from D into R etc.
2007 ES350 ... My driver side HID would flicker and turn off after a few minutes. The HID would turn on after switching the headlights on/off. I have so far replaced both stock HID lights with Kensun 5000K and today I replaced the ballasts. My problem still persists, the driver side head light still flickers and after a while shuts down. What do I do next, I need this fixed because I have to get my Lexus inspected.
View 1 RepliesWe got a 1990 celica gt with the 5sfe in it. first night driving it after about 30 minutes the oil light would flicker at idle. We checked the oil, it was nasty so we did a complete oil change. Didn't fix the issue. Well then we developed an oil leak at the oil pump seal so we replaced all those. We had heard the sending units were notorious for going bad so we took it out and put an aftermarket gage in it. Still an issue.
Ok so then we checked the main bearings to make sure they were ok, they are fine. Normal wear. No clogged oil screen either. We then was told to try a little bit thicker oil so we did that. Still the issue. Here's what happens. start it up cold at idle is about 50-60psi. Let it warm completely up and it drops to 18-20psi. When you rev it up it rises.
Ok well after driving it for about 30 minutes after warm when I came to a stop it dropped to 0! Rev it up and it rises a lot. Held it at 2k rpms and it stays at about 30-35 psi. Ok as I'm driving it, it has good oil pressure. Motor is not making any noises other than the common Toyota valve chatter.
We have ran cleaner thru the engine thinking so gunked up ports and still no change. We are at a loss. Like I said cold it's fine, revving it up after being hot is fine. Driving it is fine. but boy when the engine is hot n u come to a stop or at idle it's nothing.
I have an '03 Passat GLX Sedan. My driving/fog light is out on the drivers side. How to take off the bottom plastic grill and access the driving light? I think it is just a bulb. However, if I need a whole new light, any recommendation for both the bulb and the whole assembly.
View 3 RepliesToday I swapped in some OEM non led bixenons along with a new cecm. All seems to be good except my passenger side light. When I switch on the lights it flicks on for a second then turns back off. If I hold the stalk to activate the high beams the light will come completely on and function just fine from then on. Bad connection, bulb or ballasts?
View 5 RepliesI have an 02 Monte Carlo SS. I have an aftermarket remote start on it. While I am driving the security comes on and the headlights flicker for about 2 seconds. Ive never had any problems with the car not starting or the radio locking. Every time i shut the car off it takes about 10-15 minutes for the security light to come on. Car drives fine with the security light on.
View 1 RepliesMy bi-xenons are too low as delivered and I need to move them up. I've spent several hours reading through the numerous posts here regarding this, but they seem to be split as to whether this should be done manually with the screws under the hood, or electronically with the VAG-COM.
I have a VAG-COM, and where to find a setting for this given that the 55 module isn't active on the Touareg. I messed with the screws, and while that did raise the headlights, I'm afraid I might be compromising the auto-leveling feature of the xenons...
I cannot turn off the Xenon head lights in my early 04. I have the DRL option on. If you open the door, turn the key on for the radio, just want to jump start another car, etc. - always on.
View 7 RepliesI've searched many threads looking for a successful conversion of someone buying the OEM assembly including balasts and bulbs, housing, but nothing really shows if it's possible. I've only heard noise that either you can do it by buying silly aftermarket kits, etc. I've done the OEM change in my MKIV GTI before, but the T-reg is different and not sure it's plug and play. I found the complete assembly online with HID lamps 1st vw parts. They price each side at around $390 each. BUT my question is will they plug in and work? I have the VAG-COM so programming the car is not a problem. I've heard that I'd need a controller, but not sure if that's the case or not.
View 9 RepliesI recently changed out my headlight bulbs and now the headlights are slightly out of alignment. I know that the Xenon-equipped Tregs have self-leveling headlights, but mine is the non-Xenon model.
How do I go about aligning the headlights? I did a search and found a thread in the Passat forum, referring to "2 white screws", but don't recall seeing anything similar under my hood.
Can I switch from Regular lamps to Xenon? If so how and where do I begin doing this?
View 2 RepliesI had a bulb go out and was replaced under warranty. The problem no is that it is a yellow color and not blue/white like the original and the other. The dealer said that after burn in it will also change to the blue/white.
View 0 RepliesI just bought new DS1 8k bulbs to replace my aging 6k bulbs. It was a sinch to install and seemed too good to be true. Well i turn my car on and the check bulbs light came on and low and behold the lights do not turn on. The dealership said it would not matter whether I had 6k before and bought 8k but it seems like this might be the issue.
View 4 RepliesAsides from the myriad of other gremlins associated with our Tregs, my wife's has developed a problem in which the passenger side Xenon Head lamp stops working. When this occurs there is a corresponding warning on the MFI (which is stuck on warning because of the tire pressure module issue). If you turn the vehicle off, sometimes it resets and comes back on - other times it does not.
04 Reflex Silver V8, P/A, Conv. Pkg, Xenons.
I sent my T in last week because I was not getting "cold" air out of the passenger side vents, at least not as cold as the drivers side. The Dealer has acknowledged the problem but is having a hard time (with wvoa) finding a solution. They've returned the T to me until they can find a fix, hoping to keep from removing the entire dash.
I ran some tests of my own this weekend. When in ECON mode, both sides put out the same temp; only when the compressor is on do the temps vary. I have heard gurgling in the dash since I bought the T and when in ECON the gurgle goes away (compressor is off).
Question: Could the system be low on frion (or whatever coolant)? Are there two separate evaporators for dual zone? I'm thinking (hoping) yes on both. Maybe one evaporator is getting a full mix of coolant and the other is not......could this be the gurgling I keep hearing?
I'll bring the T in tomorrow and ask them to recharge the system if any of you agree with this theory. I hate to think the dealer will have to rip the entire dash apart to fix this situation.
not always, but the odd time I see out of the corner of my eye the compass flicker off and on. maybe 1-2 times a day... sometimes less than that. is this a common occurance?

View 2 RepliesWe bought a new to us 03 Touareg in October last year. Throughout the winter the heater worked always on the passenger side (left side, I'm in Scotland) intermittantly on the drivers side. After having the a/c on (yay!) a few times this summer. Now when I switch to heat, the driver's side doesn't heat up at all, although the passenger's side seems to be working fine.
My husband has promised me he will have it fixed for the real winter coming in and I think he's beginning to sweat cos he's having a hard time finding just what the problem is!
I tried checking out the a/c threads on here but everytime I click on the link, I get the 404 message that it's unavailable. Also the passenger seat heats up fine but the drivers (that's me, the wife lol) seat only works sometimes.
