Touareg :: Driver Seat Retract When Key Off?
Dec 8, 2004
Isn't the driver's seat supposed to scoot back automatically when you turn the key off to ease entry and exit???

View 8 RepliesSo I was trying to track down this squeak noise and I removed the drivers side seat belt but now the belt will not retract? It's stuck like this, is there a manual release? Buying another one is not a option right now. And I have to drive the car tomorrow morning.
View 1 RepliesI recently just purchased a 97 celica st limited edition. I am in love with everything about it except one thing. The seat belts only retract when I turn the car off.... As long as the car is running the seat belts will not retract at all. Once I turn it off the seat belt instantly pulls tight. I'm at a loss and have tried searching online but have not found anything.
View 1 RepliesThe seat-belts in my 1998 Honda Civic Si (coupe) are slow to retract when unbuckled. Usually end up making them along by pushing the belts up into the slot. Any way to juice the re-tractor mechanism without major expenses...
View 1 RepliesDriver side seatbelt wont retract back up i have to push it in and sometimes it will suck it up but most of the time it wont is there a way to take it apart and clean it maybe?
View 9 RepliesDad's truck 2012 regular cab. Seat belt doesn't like to retract on it's own. The retracter(next to your left butt cheek) works fine, or so it seems. The belt seems to get caught in the swivel mount above your shoulder. I've tried a piece of sand paper in between the belt and the plastic but it doesn't work any better. Is there a way to adjust the retracter? Looking for a solution before we close the buckle in the door frame and have bigger issues...
View 2 RepliesI just bought an 05' Touareg a month ago, and already put 6,000+ miles on it (drove it to CO from PA, and back for a snowboarding trip), and im loving it.The CD player already stopped working (already being replaced), but the thing that is driving me nuts is the front seats, ESPECIALLY the driver seat.
I am 5'8" and prefer to have it at the highest adjustment (again, manual seats), or near the top at least. However, i have to put it all the way up just to know if its where i left it because it keeps SINKING back down. It averages about 1 pump per day, and more if I'm driving it a lot (because there is more weight on it). I took it to the dealer and they cannot reproduce it because they are only willing to wait around for an hour. I am going to have to leave it overnight, untouched, for a few nights just to prove it to them... which sucks because I shouldn't have to. I am not imagining things, and why would i make this up.
I hadn't adjusted it back up in a few days, and it took 10 pumps to get it back to the top where i put it in the first place! I am the only one that drives it, and no, someone isnt playing tricks on me. However, I hope not because my worst fear is that they replace it, and that its just a bad design and it still does it. EVEN MY PASSENGER SIDE SEAT DOES IT! just not as bad, or maybe it does I just don't know because I am not using it (driving of course). That is a weird coincidence if you ask me... so I am worried its just a poor rachet design. If so, I am not leaving there til i get electronic seats. I already have the service manager involved because the service rep tells me he doesn't know what to fix. Again, these are manual seats, not electronic... so its nothing to do with those memory buttons you electronic guys have.
it beeps when the car is not moving but you are free to unlock the seat belt when the car is in motion and the system does not mind (it does not beep).
View 11 RepliesWhile this is not for my Touraeg but my 2006 Passat, I cannot get the seat to adjust. It keeps moving back to some default position.
View 2 RepliesIs there any way to disable the driver seat from moving all the way back when the ignition is switched off and the door is opened? The seat being all the way back makes it much more difficult to get my son in and out of his child seat in the back. Also, I'm not obese nor do I have mobility problems so the seat moving out of the way is a complete waste for me!
View 7 RepliesFor the life of me, I can't figure out how to get into the space between the right side of the driver's seat and the center console. I have lost medication, coins, and a french fry . I've tried all sorts of power adjustments but I can never make any clearance. Once something falls down there, if I stick my hand to grab it, it falls into no man's land.

I checked my driver side leather seat (V8) and found that the trim was cracked.
When I slow down my car smoothly when driving, the transmission was not downshifted smoothly after 20K service.
When you have the key in the ignition and have it so the steering wheels moves up and outta the way too? My seats sounds like 3-5 seconds of some serious farting action. Not good when on the phone and someone asks, "whats was that?" I am sure its the leather rubbing on the side of the console, but god damn will it ever stop!? Only 5K on the touareg, so maybe it will go away sooner or later...
View 9 Replies9000 Miles latter: The driver side heated seat has given up the ghost. Also, the digital clock on the dash keep gaining time. VW says there is nothing wrong with the computer and they have thrown up there hands.
The clock has probably gained an hour in the last month. I know the car is German not Swiss but a digital clock should not do this and causes me concern that there might be other ECU issues.
Hazard triangle symbol on the edge of the drivers side rear seat facing the door. Noticed it yesterday when detailing the new gal. Thought maybe there was a first aid kit or triangle under the rear seat, but nothing. What it's there for??
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 chevy malibu maxx. The front driver side brake caliper does not retract unless i open the bleeder screw. if I leave it overnight it will retract until i have to use it a couple times then ill have to open the bleeder screw. I've been told if the piston retracts when i open the bleeder then the caliper is OK. What i should look for? (It does have ABS).
View 2 RepliesI recently acquired a 2011 F150 Platinum. Nice truck! It has the automatic deploying running boards. They're nice but one problem: the driver side board takes about 15-17 seconds to retract after closing the door. This is way too long a time. The passenger side retracts after only 2-4 seconds, which is good. The dealer researched this to see if there is any way to adjust the driver side, but found nothing. I'd like the driver side running board to retract sooner after closing the door, like the passenger side.
View 1 RepliesI have noticed new drivers seat squeak. It only happens with weight transfer side to side at lower speeds ( hard right and hard left below 30 mph, or entering a driveway). I have looked at several posts and it seems like people have had luck with simply tightening the bolts for the seat.
Well I did that and it still making the noise. I have isolated the noise to the lower part of the seat right behind the molding. Behind the molding and behind the seat control switches there is a white box for the switches. It seems like the noise is coming from there. I noticed that if I pop off the control switches and I loosen the screws for the control switches the noise gets a touch better.
I took it to the dealership and they told me they tried to add some oil between the leather and the molding but it did nothing since the source seems to be behind the molding.
I would like to know if its possible to replace the regular driver seat with power seat in my 09 camry. I do see some cables lying in the bottom?
View 2 RepliesI had my car in the shop to have the seat-back recline motor replaced several weeks ago and just noticed that the seat no longer reclines (again) and now neither of the seat heaters work anymore. The seat did recline when I left the dealer but I didn't check the seat heaters. Is it possible a fuse for the seating heat unit blew? Unfortunately I can't find my owner's manual to look up the fuse schematics.

There's a little crack near the base of the driver's seat. Is this normal? No. The carpet around both the driver's seat and the passenger's seat should be continuous and without gaps.
If there is a crack near the base of the driver's seat, this indicates that the seat base cover is not installed properly. This may have happened upon access to the vehicle's battery, which is found beneath the driver's seat and for which access requires removal of the driver's seat and surrounding facia.
