Touareg :: Disabling NAV System Warning?
Feb 21, 2004
I am considering a few different Touaregs with different options. Two near the top of my list happen to have the nav system. One thing I noticed when I test drove a car with the nav is that every time I powered the car on, I had to dismiss a warning on the nav screen. This looks to be really annoying, especially since the UI for the radio is on the same screen.

I've got a 2012 base model Golf. The key fob does not work and I have to lock the car manually. The issue is when I unlock the car, the alarm goes off. Quite annoying in early morning hours or in full parking lots with people staring at me. I'm looking to either disable the honking portion of the alarm, or just completely disable it.

I drive a 2005 touareg with 111,000 miles. We are faithful with ALL maintenance. This morning I woke up to my car covered in ash (due to all the wildfires in the area I live...Idaho) and my exhaust warning light came on. It is steady yellow. Not flashing. My car drives exactly the same. I tried to contact the dealer but have not heard back.

It's Sunday afternoon and -20 degrees in northern Wisconsin. We are at the cabin after a nice weekend in the snow. I start the treg and the MFI has a yellow differential symbol. Displaying Status, the MFI says "System Fault" and "Workshop!" That doesn't sound good so I call 24 Hr assistance and they can send a tow truck 90 miles but that can't tell me what the warning means. Naturally, the Owner's lit says nothing about this warning.

Took our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan to a tire shop today. One sensor battery is completely dead, and when replaced, the other 3 batteries were too weak remove the alert from the information panel. Cost to repair all 4 is $400. Decided to live with the alert and they graciously put the bad sensor back in. Is there any way to disable the system? I check tire pressures regularly anyway. The continuous alert is agrivating.

We religiously wear seat belts on the road. BUT, on my 4WD Tacoma, driving around a farm they are not needed. Can you simply unplug the underseat sensor to defeat the annoying chime and yet not disable the airbag system?

I've got some issues with my 2005 Toyata Prius (~150,000 miles). My wife was driving recently and the "Master Warning Light", the "Hybrid System Warning Light" and the yellow "Brake System Warning Light" all came on.
Some quick reading of the owners manual said we should take it to a dealer right away, but because it was a yellow, and not red, brake system warning light it seems ok to drive at least to a dealer. in regard to the yellow brake system light the manual said it could be that: "the regenerative brake system failed or that the hydraulic brake system failed".
Now, I have a cheap bluetooth OBD reader hooked up to the "torque" app on my phone and I thought I would try to see what error codes there were to learn more. But strangely, it did not read any fault codes. I've used this reader successfully on my 2001 Mitsubishi galant, but I'm not reading anything for the prius in this case. I'm not sure if there is legitimately no error code associate with the warning lights or if my app is just failing to read them for some reason.

I just bought a used 2012 Toyota Prius iTech from a country town 3 hours away. About an hour into the drive home, the display informed me to "Check Hybrid System" and then "Check PCS System". The car continued to function for a little while, then eventually lost acceleration, so I pulled over. I turned it off and on again; the warning light remained but the car started and continued to work, but soon after I lost acceleration again. This happened one more time.
Then I Googled the problem and discovered that you could "turn it off and on again three times to reset the computer". I did this and the problem disappeared and did not resurface for the remainder of the trip, and has not happened again since.

So I've been driving around with ESP switched OFF which basically only turns off ASR and slightly dumbs down stability control. What I used to think was turbo lag was the damn ASR! It's like I've got a whole new power band that was stolen by the traction control system. What a joke! Who needs traction control when you've got 4motion?
Is there any way to permanently disable the ASR? Stage 1 is so much better without it. I had to pull a U-turn in the rain on an empty back street today and from a stop, I whipped an 180 from rear end wheelspin. It was awesome. Stage 1 has crazy torque.

I was trying to install the invisicord cable for my escort radar detector thru the auto dimming/homelink mirror, I shorted it and homelink no longer has any power, a couple minutes later i got a check hybrid system.
Now question how do i restore power to the homelink mirror, is there a fuse to replace? And that warning and all the other warnings that i got related to the short. I read somewhere here that if power to the homelink mirror was off that you get no power to some systems, not sure where is that post, cant find it the car starts.

My exhaust system warning light came on this afternoon. Think the cars needs to be parked until I can get it to the dealer.

Past cars have always had a change oil warning system. Usually there's a button under the hood or a certain sequence of pressing the brake to "reset" the oil life monitor. Does the Elantra have any such thing. I didn't see anything about it in the manual.

Looking for info on success in silencing their Prius C pedestrian warning system? If so, how? I find it annoying, sounds like something is wrong with my radio. I may be amongst the first to attempt to quiet it.

I was towing an enclosed trailer (4000lbs) this past weekend on the interstate and the low coolant warning came on. I pulled in at the next exit at a truck stop to look for distilled water and they did not have any. I decided to buy an off brand long life premixed coolant, pink in color and topped off the overflow tank with about 1/2 gallon of coolant. After reading about not mixing coolants with the G12 that comes in the Touareg, will I have to drain the entire cooling system and refill with G12? or is this not enough to worry about? Should I get the dealer to do this for free since they just serviced my truck prior to my trip and I told them I was going to be towing and to make sure everything is okay?

Had a strange thing happen this weekend. Hadn't driven the truck for a day, and when I started it up, I got a TP warning for the right rear. I broke out my trusty tire pressure gauge, and they were all perfectly equal at 45 psi. I restarted the car a couple of times, but I kept getting the warning. Then, I had the system re-learn the pressures and I was fine. How to resolve this problem. Hope this doesn't start to happen too often.

frozen? nav system? Its got me in the right state, but it is stuck nowhere near where the car actually is and does not track when the car is moving. Can the system be reset?

I was going through a bad day today with my 2010 Prius Gen 3. I was on highway driving at 68MPH behind another car, at the time I step down on gas pedal for overtaking, all a sudden both "Check PCS system" and "Check Hybrid system" appears on the Console display and gas pedal had no response from the engine at all. The car was not moving and I had to stop aside and "P" the car. I tried to turn off the car, turn back on more than 10 times. Both warning signal "Check PCS system" and "Check Hybrid system" display on console and the car can not go into "ready" mode hence the car can not drive. I could put shift to "P","N" but just not "D". Had to call tow truck to tow back to toyota dealer, and they said will look into it on Monday.

I checked the air in the tires on my 2008 350 ES with an outside temperature of around 40 degrees. Pressure gage read 25 lbs. I decided to add pressure to bring up to 30 lbs. Subsequently while driving, the Trac & VCS System malfunction warning symbol came on (the picture of a car with wavy lines behind the tires). Of course, the warning symbol of a red triangle with an exclamation symbol in the middle as well as a check engine light also came on.
I figured that the problem was that the combination of cold weather (for Houston) and the added air pressure resulted in the system interpretation of an increased skid or lack of control situation. So I let some air out to where the pressure in each tire is 27 lbs. Then I drove it 5 miles or so at speeds up to 50 mph. Made no difference. Warning symbols still there.
