Is there any way to disable the driver seat from moving all the way back when the ignition is switched off and the door is opened? The seat being all the way back makes it much more difficult to get my son in and out of his child seat in the back. Also, I'm not obese nor do I have mobility problems so the seat moving out of the way is a complete waste for me!

VW Touareg 2007 V6 passenger electric seat problem....
While this is not for my Touraeg but my 2006 Passat, I cannot get the seat to adjust. It keeps moving back to some default position.

View 4 RepliesI just bought an 05' Touareg a month ago, and already put 6,000+ miles on it (drove it to CO from PA, and back for a snowboarding trip), and im loving it.The CD player already stopped working (already being replaced), but the thing that is driving me nuts is the front seats, ESPECIALLY the driver seat.
I am 5'8" and prefer to have it at the highest adjustment (again, manual seats), or near the top at least. However, i have to put it all the way up just to know if its where i left it because it keeps SINKING back down. It averages about 1 pump per day, and more if I'm driving it a lot (because there is more weight on it). I took it to the dealer and they cannot reproduce it because they are only willing to wait around for an hour. I am going to have to leave it overnight, untouched, for a few nights just to prove it to them... which sucks because I shouldn't have to. I am not imagining things, and why would i make this up.
I hadn't adjusted it back up in a few days, and it took 10 pumps to get it back to the top where i put it in the first place! I am the only one that drives it, and no, someone isnt playing tricks on me. However, I hope not because my worst fear is that they replace it, and that its just a bad design and it still does it. EVEN MY PASSENGER SIDE SEAT DOES IT! just not as bad, or maybe it does I just don't know because I am not using it (driving of course). That is a weird coincidence if you ask me... so I am worried its just a poor rachet design. If so, I am not leaving there til i get electronic seats. I already have the service manager involved because the service rep tells me he doesn't know what to fix. Again, these are manual seats, not electronic... so its nothing to do with those memory buttons you electronic guys have.
When you have the key in the ignition and have it so the steering wheels moves up and outta the way too? My seats sounds like 3-5 seconds of some serious farting action. Not good when on the phone and someone asks, "whats was that?" I am sure its the leather rubbing on the side of the console, but god damn will it ever stop!? Only 5K on the touareg, so maybe it will go away sooner or later...
View 9 RepliesSo It's been a while since I've noticed this wearing rusty sound when moving the driver seat forward and back. It only happens at a certain point where I feel most of my family members are positioned when driving.... I took a look it seemed a bit rusted... Will post pics later.

Other day my wife was driving when the driver's seat started moving all by itself - moved all the way forward and stopped which was very frightening while you are doing 110 kmh! Nothing caught in the switches on the side, switches were not wet (shorting). I took it out later but nothing happened until I got out, locked the door and watched as the seat started to move and again did not stop until it was all the way forward! Lucky I wasn't driving - I'm 6'3" and it would have been very uncomfortable. I moved it back, locked 'er up and by the time I got back to the car 30 minutes late, it had happened all over again.

I'd like to pack items on the floor behind the driver's seat but am certain that the "auto away" function that moves the seat all the way back when you turn off the car will crush my items. I checked my manual and my Carista app but nothing about disabling this feature. How to do this?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Limited with an issue with my driver's seat. The heater works but I cannot get the seat to move forward/backward etc. The passenger side works and I've switched the fuses around so it isn't the fuse.
View 3 RepliesSo according to the manual that comes with the car, "ESC is switched on all the time." There are only instructions for turning off traction control.
Why Electronic Stability Control sucks: "Then there is the ESP. I don't even plan on bringing this car to the track until this is resolved. Last thing I need is the car thinking it needs to pull my throttle or apply the brakes because it thinks I'm 'out of control.' That is just an accident waiting to happen."
So how to turn off stability control yet? I'm kind of hoping APR (or any other tuner) would include some sort of flash with their tune that makes the 'ESP OFF' button also disable stability control (and not just traction control).
These guys disabled ESP by pulling a fuse. the only problem is that it also disables ABS and a couple lights : [URL] ....
I collapsed the rear seats this morning, loaded the Treg up with stuff (nothing too heavy) and drove 200 miles. Got home, unloaded stuff and then tried to put the seats back up. The center seat belt is integrated into the passenger side 60% folding seat. But for some reason it's now "locked" as the belts do when the car is in an accident.
Since the belt is tight as it is in the lowered position, it will not allow me to lift up the back portion of the seat. After looking at it in the somewhat narrow view I have from between the floor and the lowered back rest, I can see that when I try to lift the back rest, the belt needs to slack some to allow the seat back to go all the way up. But since it catches, it only allow the seat back to raise about 6" before it's too tight to raise the seat back anymore.
I looked at the mounting bolts for the bottom portion of the belt in the space I can see and I see a 12 point star pattern bolt (not sure of proper name). With my Passat, I was able to find a suitable allen wrench that fits in the 12 point star pattern bolt that controls the back door catch for adjustment purposes. But with this one, I tried both metric and SAE and neither has a close enough match.
The belt locking mechanism allows for about 1" of belt travel before it locks. I've jiggled with the belt trying to get the mechanism to unlock so I don't have to remove the belt anchor point on the floor of the car (which I don't have the right wrench for). Anything I can do with the belt? Or do I just go after getting the right wrench and undoing the anchor to allow more belt slack to reset the belt?
Try setting your fader entirely to the back speakers and tell me if the sound coming out is at all full/complete. I can hardly hear anything coming from the back.

We have two kids in car seats in the back and it gives them no room to get out.
I have a '95 BMW 325. The driver's seat reclined and will not come back up... not digging the gangsta posture or the extra ab workout to sit up straight (luckily I don't have to drive very far at the moment). The motor to go back seems to work (obviously) but makes no noise when the button is pushed to move it back up. What do I have to do to fix this?
View 1 RepliesI drive with the seat slider in the full back position. I'd like to gain another inch or so....just enough to where I'm not touching the rear seat. Not worried about rear passengers. How easy would it be to either reposition the seat anchor points or modify the seat itself to do this? Also, has anyone tilted the front of the seat up a little to give more thigh support? I was also thinking of shimming or otherwise raising the front half of the seat maybe 1/2 inch to give my legs a little more support.
