Touareg :: Check Engine Sign Went On / V10 Turbo ECU Failure

Apr 20, 2009

My 2004 V10 was loosing power, the check engine sign went on, and it actually stopped running. I got it to the dealer in limp mode. After checking the fault code with VW the dealer said VW told them to replace both turbos and both ECUs . Of course the engine had to be dropped etc.

What are the chances that both turbos fail at the same time? Would not one exchange lets say the ECU first and see if that fixes it? The turbos looked fine when they had them out???? The guys at the dealership were great, making it as smooth as possible, but could not fully explain it to me either....

Prius (Gen 2) :: Check Engine Light And Exclamation Sign?

I have a 2009 Prius with about 38k miles. Lately I have been observing that the mpg is constantly dropping and has reached 38 now. For the past couple of weeks, I started noticing a weird noise as if something was rubbing against something else. The noise would come and go, as if something was trying to engage. Upon further experimentation I noticed that it was related to A/C - when the noise would happen, if I raised the temp enough to turn off the A/C the noise would stop. After that if I dropped the temp back, the noise wouldn't come back.

Anyway, today all of a sudden I noticed the A/C was not blowing cold air, so I was sure the A/C went down. However after sometime the car gave me red bang, and it says Problem on the screen with car sign and exclamation, and a check engine light. But the car drives just fine.

Touareg :: Engine Swap Possible - V8 Gasoline With VW Diesel / Turbo Power Plant?

I'm curious to know if it is theoretically possible to (some-day) swap out the V8 gasoline engine w. a VW DIESEL/Turbo power plant. Are any of the VW Diesel engines directly compatible w. the V8 transmission, mounting brackets, electronics, etc. etc. The Glow Plug indicator in the dash, though not required for me, would be nice to have as a reminder.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - ECO Computer - Failure To Move At Stop Sign

Failed to start or do anything with 22K miles. Week previous failure to move at stop sign. Stepped on again OK. WEnt on the hook to servicing/purchasing dealer. PCM? Replaced and so far all is good. Now the trans shifts earlier and will go into 6th at 40 in town driving; never went in until 65 on freeway before. Could the replacement part before newer model 14/15? Or maybe not for a MaxTow with 3.73 gears I have? Is it thinking and finding my driving style.

Touareg :: V10 Turbo Wouldn't Hold Speed Up Hills And Engine Had Definite Shudder

The beast slowed to a crawl on the interstate saturday morning for my son's soccer games... wouldn't hold speed up hills and engine had definite shudder at all speeds... fortunately, the dealer is in the city he was playing in adn the service dept is open on saturday mornings, so I could drop it off... they were exceptional about getting a loaner (new jetta tdi wagon)... they called today to report that one of the turbos was ruined... VW says they have to replace both to complete repair... tracked down parts in germany and will take about a week to arrive, then a day or so to repair. Had problems with the v10's turbos? I'm at about 12K miles... this is my second v10 and it's kinda spooky to have this kind of problem...

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2006 - Window Failure And Check Engine Light On

I have a 2006 Prius with 100,000. My husband just called me from the road (3 hours away on the way home). He pressed his button on the drivers side door to roll the driver's side back window down a crack. After he let go of the button, the window continued to go down all the way then wouldn't go back up. He stopped and tried to put it up using the button on the back door, but it didn't work. He then turned the car off in order to get gas, and when he started the car, the check engine light came on. He's driving now trying to get home before anything more goes wrong.

Tiguan :: 2012 - Loss Of Power / EPC And Check Engine Light - Fuel Pump Failure

Well I had the dreaded loss of power and EPC/Check Engine light happen on Monday. Was driving down the Interstate and all of sudden we just lost power. It did not go completely dead, but it ran like crap. Called the local VW and they advised to bring it in, still under warranty (27k, 26mths) and it turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump. They replaced the pump and the replacement was bad! Luckily they tested it before they got it out the door back to me. Provided me with a loaner and the dealer had to get a replacement pump overnight. Picked up the car yesterday and everything drives the way it should again.

I had already had the software update, but according to the service advisor that was for the fuel pump in the tank, not the one on the engine. Not sure if that is correct, but that is what the advisor told me..

Hybrid-repair - Honda - Accord - Failure - Batteries :: 2004 - IMA And Check Engine Light Went On

I have a Honda Accord 2004 Hybrid with 85,000 miles on it. My IMA and check engine light went on less than 2 months ago, and the dealer replaced the starter battery and it was "fixed". Less than 2 months later the same thing happened and the dealer claims that the hybrid battery is failing, need to replace it, and they can't do this anyhow because the part is backordered "indefinitely". Honda extended the hybrid battery to 80,000 miles but you are over the limit. So here's my question:

1. Can the car be driven without the hybrid battery, just using gas engine, without risk of getting stuck somewhere?
2. Is there any other remedy that would be less costly?
3. Was this a known problem that I should have been warned about when I bought the car.

Touareg :: 2004 - Throttle Lag Only At Traffic Sign / Other Short Stop

I've read the throttle lag posts with interest. Ours only lags when performing a "California" stop where you go from the brake to the gas and look for an instant pick up. Seem to have about a second of delay before anything happens. Of course this causes all sorts of unnecessary lurching and I don't like it. Does everyone else experience this as part of their throttle lag problem?

Passat (B7) :: Turbo Failure - Glow Plug Light Blinking And Immediately Lost Significant Amount Of Power

I am new the forum but I wanted to get some information about the apparent turbo failure problem the 2012-2014 TDIs seem to be having. On other forums I have read numerous premature turbo failures. Also how long did it take to get the new parts and complete the repair. My car at this point will be in the shop for over a week. At the point when the car broke down I did not really know what was going on. The glow plug light was blinking and I immediately lost a significant amount of power. Do I need to worry about any internal engine damage from a blown turbo? I was able to get the car to the dealer at a very slow speed in a very short amount of time but this is my first diesel and first turbo so I could use some information.

Touareg :: Check Engine Light Came On

Check engine light came on today shortly after start up. We had a foot of heavey wet snow last night and the car was outside. The car is running fine and the light is not flashing. Tried my OBD 2 code reader but it would not communicate with the vehicle. Will the light clear itself after so many start stop cycles? Is this a VAG-COM deal? '07 V-8 FSI, 11,000 Km(6500mi.). Emission related stuff I should be able to read with an OBD 2 code reader I thought, and the check engine light indicates emission problems right?

Touareg :: Check Engine Light Going On / Off

I've got a 2005 V6 Touareg, 78K miles, and the check engine light comes on from time to time. The dealer says it's a timing fault and that the engine needs to be "torn down", repairs between 5K and 7K. Car works fine except for the light going on/off.

I have an extended warranty, purchased from VW (but not a VW warranty). The warrenty company won't guarantee that they'll cover the repair unless there is evidence of a problem. The dealer says that timing issues won't show any evidence of a problem (something about a tensioner, and there being no visible sign of an issue with it). I think the warranty company is trying to get out of a repair.

If I don't fix the problem, I am told that the engine will incur significant damage. The warranty company won't fix that either because, now that I've reported the issue, they'll have on record that I chose not to catch the problem earlier. I'm not familiar with timing issues, tensioners, and whatnot.

Touareg :: 2008 TDI - Check Engine Light Keeps Going On

I have an 08 tdi - this is the 5th time that the check engine light has come on, and again it is the exact same problem. they have replaced the sensor twice, and every time it comes on, they just clear the code and set me on my way.

VW of Fairfax, has my car, as it's all 1 mile from my house, but their service guys suck, refuse to give me a loaner, tell me to wait an hour, and 5 hours later, call me to let me know they have escalated the issue, but that i can come get my car and it's safe to drive on. I do not deny that a exhaust temp sensor is going to prevent me from driving, but I do not like or think it's fair that if my check engine light is on, i should be driving the car.

Touareg :: 2004 - Check Engine Light Came On

We have a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg . 1000 miles ago the check engine light came on and the dealer (I will never go back again) said the catalytic converters were shot. We were going to get second opinion but when we picked up the car the engine light was off....so 1,000 miles later it came back on. Is it a good for us to buy a diagnostic tester and see what the issue is ourselves then take it to a mechanic and have them fix that exact issue?

Touareg :: Check Engine Light Flashed Then Stay Lit?

Check engine light flashed for a very brief period, car ran very rough, and then check engine light (exhaust system malfunction) stayed lit. Took to dealer this AM and service advisor asked that I bring it back on Monday morning (loaner promised) but in the meantime, I could continue driving it unless the engine light started flashing. Car is now running okay, but last night it seemed to be running on only 6 or 7 cylinders. Only 93 or 94 octane gas is used and I've owned enough German cars to know how the gas cap should be tightened. Seemed like an oxygen sensor malfunction last night but now I'm not certain.

Touareg :: 2004 VW - Check Engine Light Is On / Running Rough At Low RPMs

I have a 2004 VW Touareg with 116K miles. Yesterday the check engine light came on and she is running very rough at low RPMs. The manual tells me that there is either a problem with the exahust manifold or an O2 sensor is bad. It feels as if she is struggling for air. When you start the vehicle the check engine light flashes then stays on in the cluster. What can I expect when I take it in to the dealership? Is there anything I can check before I take it in?
