How can I change the speedometer from MPH to km/h without replacing the whole instrument cluster?

View 1 RepliesSome how my speedometer switched over to kilometers from miles per hour. Why and how the heck do I change it back.
View 3 RepliesHow difficult is changing the whole speedometer cluster on a 94 honda accord? Mine has been messed up since i got the car. It stays on 20mph when I turn on the car.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Toyota Camry LE V6, It has 15 inch stock wheels on it
If I go to a larger wheel, is it possible to change the wheel speed so that the speedometer reads correct? If I have read correct, the stock offset is +45 and the lug pattern is 5x114.3 and a 6.5inch wheel?
Does the Touareg have the 10% error in speedometer reading like my GTI does?
View 2 RepliesI have an early model year 2004 Touareg which has lately developed what appears to be a slipping problem when changing gears from 5th to 4th when decelerating or the same when accelerating strongly and downshifting. When switching over to tiptronic mode, its not clear if that apparent slipping goes away or changes. It definitely isn't as severe but that could be due to perception or the RPMs where the shifting is occurring.
The only real interesting characteristic of this clunk and lurch that is experienced is that it only happens when the car is warm -- I've been watching the transmission oil temperature, and it appears to start happening as it passes through 200 degrees. When it starts, the lurch/clunk is small and not too bad. As the car reaches temperature, it reaches if full lurch/clunk potential.
I have taken it to the dealer once and they have "upgraded software" that was supposed to clear up the problem, but did not.
Experienced a thumping noise when changing gear (automatic gearing). FOr eg. when i change from P to R or even D, there's a thumping noise which i think comes from either the gearbox or the diff. either way, sometimes the thumping noise is there and some other times, its gone.
I've only done around 1500 kms since new and if there's no solution, i'll just take it to the dealer and get it diagnosed.
I have an 08 Treg 2 V6. I have had little success at lowering the pressure setting at which the alarm sounds on my TPMS. The owners manual does not mention how to do this. The reason I want to do this is because my tires are rated at a max of 44 psi and my alarm setting is 43.5 psi which sounds every time the outside temp changes the pressure.
View 4 RepliesI have a V8 w/o navigation. I am able to adjust the volume of the radio from the steering column but would like to know whther I can change stations from the steering column as well. None of the controls seem to allow it.
View 5 RepliesHaving problem with air suspension lowering and rising without changing any settings? Is this normal or maybe I have a leak in my system?
View 10 RepliesI was wondering if with vagcom you can change the scroll-wheel on the steering wheel to run through the 6 presets, rather than just going through all of the stations. The way it is, I find it useless but it would be great if it could go through my presets. Maybe I just missed it in the owners manual...but I don't think VW gives you a way to change it... Btw, it's an '04.5 V8 w/ nav - fully loaded.
View 5 RepliesI just got a Touareg with no manual. I have it and the Bentley CD ordered. In the meantime I need to charge the battery and cant figure out how to remove panel in front of seat. It was dead for a few months in the cold weather and I want to double check to be sure it didn't freeze and bust the sides.
Also I'm not sure this vehicle had the PDI done yet. What to look for in regards to a battery disconnect switch in the seat area. Supposedly the dealer removes these as part of the pre delivery inspection.
One last thing, with a jumpbox attached can I turn the key to a "on" position without danger of engine cranking to get it out of park? I guess what I am asking is when you insert the key and turn it to the right, is there a position past 12:00 that cranks engine, and then springs back to 12:00 when you let go of the key?
I need to roll it around my shop, but don't want it to accidentally activate the starter.
Is it somehow possible to change the (standard 50/50) Front/Rear Power Ration of the 4x4 Transmission? I know the Porsche Cayenne uses something like 40/60 (as well as the BMW X5) and as the Touareg and Cayenne are supposed to share the same hardware I figure it must be possible to adopt the Cayenne settings.
View 20 RepliesWhat is the VAG-COM code for changing the blinker so that it would blink 4 times instead of 3 when you just tap it. I tried searching for it and can't find it in the archives. What the code is, or where the message it?
View 7 RepliesMy left HID lamp started to flicker quickly a month ago. It seemed like it was a loose lamp housing connection when I hit bumps. I took the housing out, coated the connections with electrical grease and fit it back in tightly. Now a week later the lamp changes to an amber tone after it is lit aprox. 10 secs.
Does this indicate the bulb is about to fail? Is this a common issue? 04', so I know it is out of warranty and I am sure the bulbs aren't cheap. I even did the vagcom mod to save the bulbs during the day
The tire pressure monitor comes on when there is only .5 difference in one tire. Then it won't go off.
Also, the driver's side mirror will not program and it has a mind of its own just changing randomly every time I back in.
On a road trip my buddy noticed I was going a little slow. I thought I was doing 115 km/h, but my buddy said I was doing 109 km/h. So we did a test while on the road and sure enough my speedometer said I was doing 115km/h both on the gas and in crusie control mode while my buddy behind me said his car showed 109 km/h. I further confirmed the speed by checking on my GPS which again confirmed the issue at 6km/h less than what I was showing on the dash.
How the heck can this be? I have changed my wheels to 17" wheels with 225 45 17 tires which I know is fine for my 2010 Golf TDI. My alignment is fine as the car tracks perfectly straingth and no issue there. Tire pressure is fine also. Really, I don't know if this is even something to call out.
What could it be?
When I drove my 1952 Mercury and checked the speed with a speedometer app on my smartphone it seemed to be about 8-10 mph off... When it says 50 it's really about 40 mph. What would cause this? I know the tires are the correct size - not sure if that would make it read inaccurately.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2002 Kia Rio that I bought new in the summer of 2002. It did not have cruise control so I got one installed by a third party. Then I moved to St. Louis from Seattle in winter of 2003. About 3 - 4 years later the speedometer would not move from zero when I first drove the car. This seemed to happen only on real cold days, and after driving around for 10 minutes or so, the speedometer would suddenly start working again. Kia convinced me that my third party cruise control was installed incorrectly and was causing the problem (despite the fact that it had worked perfectly for years). They disconnected the cruise thingy and the speedometer worked just fine.
Then a couple of years later the problem started again, but in all temperatures, not just when it was cold. A different Kia dealer found the problem and fixed it (but they didn't tell me what they had done). Now just 3 months ago the problem started again, but then it appeared to be related to driving in the rain. I was on a 6 day trip to Seattle and it rained most of the time. As soon as I got back to dry Reno, the problem went away. But now the speedometer is always at zero. I don't know if it will start up after driving for a while because I rarely drive in Reno for more than 15 - 20 minutes.
I have a 96 ranger 2.3 liter 5 speed. I just bought it and so I don't know the history..
The speedometer says 90 and the GPS says 72...
The speedometer says 50 and the GPS says 36....
It seems the faster i go the more its off. I checked the tire sizes first. It has 195/70/R14 these look small but i was told these are what stock for the 2wd.
Then i was told to try to replaced the Speed sensor.. I was told there are 2. One on the tranny and one on the rear. I was told to replace the one on the tranny. I did and there was no change. I searched a lot of threads and the rear sensor seems to only get replaced when the speedometer stops working altogether.
when driving at night, the light from the speedometer reflects up onto the windshield like you see in the picture above.
