Touareg :: Car Stuck In 3rd Or 4th Gear

Last night I drove my Tuareg in tiptronic mode and noticed that many times I was stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and could only downshift but not upshift. I went to automatic (D), then tried tiptronic again, and found out that this didnt happen all the time. Sometimes it allowed me to upshift and downshift, but other times I could not get past 4th gear.

Towing the 16 foot bambi airstream this weekend for Canada day long week-end. First 7 hour leg to destination great. On return trip gear selector on dash screen was flickering and would disappear completely. Engine seemed to be stuck in 1st gear but would run at about 80-100km/hour and 3000rpm. Also could not select anything except high gear(high gear/low gear selector just kept flashing)..... Trip computer/Gps also malfunctioning. The truck seemed to be trying to correct gear issues but eventually gear display totally disappeared and was left running at 80 km so as not to over rev the engine. Taking in tomorrow. Truck had new engine at 70000km, has 97000 on now. Throttle body replaced 2000km ago due to malfunction in shifting.

I have been trying to move my vehicle. It starts but does not let me put it in gear. It's stuck to park. Whole bunch of warning lights came on. I have the check engine, abs, EPC, traction control and parking brake(even if it is not on) lights. A real Christmas tree. What it is.

My problem is that i am stuck in the parking gear and i cant move ... I changed the brake light switch and nothing still in the same gear .. my friend scan my car and it sends Comm with TCM failed Comm with abs fail.. The problem is that i need to move my car from its current location. I will like to fix the problem but my main thing is to move the car from where its at . How can i move this car ?? Also I notice that when I connect the new brake light switch on the back of the car the back door light turns on the stop one only that one ...

I am at work and my wife is on the phone. They Treg would not start this morning and the key is stuck in the ignition. She tried using a pen to push the little button in but it won't move and the key won't budge. What is she doing wrong, and why did this happen? Is the battery drained?

This past week there was 3 days where it didn't get above freezing. For some of you this is normal but this hardly never happens. It gets below freezing, but doesn't stay there for an extended period of time. Anyhow, my doors where frozen shut and I kept pulling and pulling and I couldn't get the door open. It felt like I almost pulled the door handle out of the car. I was going to pour hot water on the door, but my mom told me that it would crack the window or something like that.
The way I got it open was I kept pulling and pushing and pulling and pushing. I pulled up on the door and I guess it broke the ice. This way took entirely too long.

I searched using all possible keywords, but to no avail. My back hatch got stuck about 3 weeks ago. I could not open it, but it showed as being open on the MFI. I took it to the dealer, and it was fixed. They said they replaced the locking mechanism. Well, it got stuck again this weekend and am taking it back to the dealer. Why did it get stuck again, even though they replaced the mechanism?

I laid the rear seat down and now the center seat belt is stuck. I cannot raise the seat due tot he tension on the belt. It sounds like the pretensioner maybe stuck. Is there a catch to release this belt?

The other day I was driving off-road with a 04 V8 Treg with Nokian WR2's tires and got stuck going uphill in mud (there was a small river running that had created the mud on the side). I engaged the low differential along with the lock (both rear and front lock option) but could not get out. I finally had to reverse downhill and back out of my pursue to go further up the hill. What did I do wrong? Are the tires not suitable? Did I have to leave Treg on high differential? Should not lock the differential?

My key got stuck in the ignition and I was unable to start it. The owners' manual shows a small hole to the left of the key slot which is poked with a paper clip to release the key. At some point the ignition in my tdi was replaced and no small hole is present. A knowledgeable tow truck operator/mechanic coaxed the key from the ignition and the tdi started when the key was returned to the ignition and turned. What is the proper way to remove a stuck key from an ignition without the little hole. I was reluctant to force it out. The ignition currently in my '04 tdi has a raised bar to the left of the key slot which I was unable to depress.

My Car is stuck in the ignition, the display show please put in park. The key cannot take out. The dealer replace the dash board and have no success. Car in shop for 10 days already. There was another Touareg that had the same problem.

I have the basic radio and my 7 year old stuck an undersize round CD into the player which won't eject it, won't recognize it, and won't mount another regular disc. The dealer says that I need to send the whole player off to be repaired and that they have no tool to fuss with it for this - I know that undersize discs are a problem for the computer industry, sadly, my little guy jumped into the car and did this without my foreknowledge. We were preparing to leave the house.

Problems with the passenger side automatic mirror sticking in the down position (position it assumes when Touareg transmission is put into reverse). I have had my Touareg for about 1 week and the mirror does not return to the regular position when I place the transmission in drive.

OK, so I started the T and got the low tire pressure warning. I began to cycle through the MFI to see which tire was low and poof! I was in the convenience setup sub-menu. Now that's all I get. No other menus. I've tried everything I can and it seems to stay that way. been about a week now.

My darling wife just called me and told me that one of the people that she was transporting in our egg this afternoon pulled up the passenger-side rear sunshade and hooked it on the clips at the top. Then apparently he just rested his arm on the ledge and they heard some sort of "pop" noise. Then, when he unhooked the sun shade to retract it back into the door it wouldn't pull back and retract so it's stuck in the "open" position. I'm guessing it's a simple matter of popping off the door skin and resetting something that's popped/snapped off.

Yesterday I took the R out to grab some food on my lunch break. Didn't drive like a lunatic or anything, pulled into T-Bell parking lot and the car didn't want to downshift. Ok Weird. coasted in, parked, and put it in neutral and let out the clutch and the car stalled like it was still in gear. Go to leave and the car doesn't want to go into reverse. Thats when I realized something had gone seriously wrong.
Basically the car is stuck in 3rd gear. I can get the shifter to engage into reverse but the car tries to creep forward like I have the e-brake on. It doesn't go into any other gear but 3rd or 4th, but even when the shifter is in the 4th position its still in 3rd gear. Even when the shifter is in the neutral position its in 3rd gear. I limped the car home. I've looked into it a little bit and I'm leaning toward the 3/4 shift fork being broken. I know this won't be a cheap repair.
I think if it is the shift fork I will be upgrading the the one piece steel versions.
