Touareg :: Car Blows Only Cold Air Besides Of Whatever Temperature
Sep 24, 2007
I have a dual zone climatronic in my 04, I just noticed it last night that regardless of what temperature setting the passenger side is in, it just blows cold air. Winter is fast approaching.

I just bought a 1997 Toyota Tercel 5-speed stick, with 175,000 miles, and the temperature gauge moves from its lowest possible position to its highest possible position when the key is turned on, although the engine does not overheat, and no coolant is leaking or being burned. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor, but the actions of the gauge were not affected. I don't know if it is somehow related, but the heater blows cold, regardless the setting of the temperature dial on the dash. What I might try next?

I have a 2009 Santa Fe Limited. Dual climate control issue. The passenger side blows cold air regardless of the temperature setting or mode. How to remedy this?

During one of the cold days this winter, the tips on my retractable cover cracked and chipped off. It no longer catches on the side panels. The local dealers haven't determined if this can be replaced under warranty yet.
Since the tips are not a replaceable part, how to modify/improve the tips so they will hold the cover in place, and not break in cold weather. I was thinking about cutting the tips completely off and inserting a rod that would run full width.

I have a Buick park avenue 1998, 3.8L V6 engine. the problem is: The ac vent on the driver's side blows cold air but on the passenger side blows EXTREMELY hot air. no matter how cold or hot you set the ac it blows at the same temperature on both sides. Florida heat is setting in and my passengers are melting. I am really hopping that is not something to bad and that I can fix it myself. Tip: this started happening after i had the alternator and the battery replaced.

Air conditioning is serious as a heat stroke, so when my 2000 Beetle started blowing brittle pieces of foam from the A/C vents, moaning at stop lights, and refusing to cool, action was required. That was last summer, and I had the A/C "fixed" – new compressor (a dryer thingy had gone bad), a fresh charge of freon, and gloriously arctic air. There was still foam, but who cares as long as it’s cold? (I know the foam is disintegrating due to age, not rodents.) The shop told me they could fix the foam problem but that it would mean taking off the dash, could cost $900 in labor, and that not fixing it meant nothing worse than flying foam.
Now in the second summer, the air still blows cold but only sometimes, and it spits more foam than ever. When the air isn’t cold, if I twiddle all the knobs, especially the one that directs air from my face to my feet to the defrost and back, eventually the vents belch out more foam and give me cold air. This mainly works at 70+ mph. A recent development is that air blows on my toes as well as my face when I have the dial set for face-air-only. My tootsies love it, but I’m concerned that when all the foam breaks free I’ll have air coming from all vents at once, maybe hot, maybe cold.
So I have two questions:
(1) When all the foam has flown out the windows, will I have reliable temperature control?
(2) If the answer to 1 is no, would it be cheaper to sell my dear Sunshine to CarMax for a lesser price and let them dismantle the dash or pay the shop and keep driving her a while?

As the weather here on the east coast is starting to warm I decided to run the A/C. Well low and behold it blows warm air, regardless of what I do. I put it to LO, nothing. I made sure to turn ECON off, nothing, I even tried to cycle the ECON button but it doesn't seem like the compressor is being turned on.
Will be calling the dealer tomorrow, it is well within warranty. Just sucks I have to deal with this, plus I see that there is a TSB out but it only lists codes as to why the compressor, if that is the problem, is not on.
What was done to resolve? The A/C last summer worked fabulously??? So I hope it is not a coolant leak or something like that, hope it is just a faulty sensor or switch.

The AC blows very cold as long as the outside temp is 88-87 and cooler. As soon as it goes over 89 or so, the air rapidly warms eventually blowing what feels like air HOTTER than the outside ambient. No matter if i shut it down or blow warm air it will not restart until the temperature outside drops below the magic mark (so i dont think the coil is freezing over)... and then it blows frigid air. I don't think it is low refrigerant because of the efficiency at cooler temps and the nearly exact outside temp it changes. It is as if a sensor is activated and nothing but a temperature drop changes its status. It is so predictable that to me it sounds like a sensor or kill switch that is activated. One fan was out. had it replaced and still have the problem. This has been going on all summer and VW stamps everything "could not replicate". 2004 touareg vs 80k miles (with plenty of troubles along the way)....

Just picked up an 87 150 and have found the following few problems. (Chilton no longer has a "troubleshooting" section...taking that POS back). Anyway here we go... No heat. AC blows cold, but there's no heat. Possible problems and fixes?

I'm having with my truck. During a drive cross country my heat started to go from hot to mildly warm to cold in probably 5 hours. After stopping I checked my coolant level and it was empty. I do have a leaky head gasket and have driven about 18 hours so I'm guessing that's where it went. I could not find a leak anywhere. I filled it back up and left the cap off the reservoir to let any air work it's way out. My heat still blows cold as ice but if I shut off the heat completely and wait ten seconds then turn it back on it will blow warm air for maybe two seconds. What this could be?

On occasion the heat on my mk6 golf will start to blow cold when turned to the max click. Turning it back one click will cause it to start to blow hot again.
Friend at the dealer said he thought there was a software update for the hvac controls ....

My daughter has complained about periods of no heat- fan blows but cold air. Next time the heater works fine. She is keeping coolant level up but does need to add a bit (pint or so) say every other month. Last week during the Chicago snow storm she called and told me the heater (which had been working) blew a bunch of "smoke" into the car and onto the windshield and windows which then froze solid. I assume the smoke meant steam and she did say it had a sweet smell when I asked her.
Car was towed to a SAAB dealer who ran the car for a couple hours and found no issue and then drove the car for a period with no issue. I had my local mechanic also check it in the past for no heat and it also worked fine then. Only thing I can think of is that there might be a small/intermittent leak in the head gasket with an exhaust bubble forced into the cooling system? That does not explain the steam in the passenger compartment though. Could it?

How do you diagnose and repair a non working AC? The blowers still work, but no cold air blows.

My dual zone AC started behaving strangely a couple weeks ago. Driver side is blowing cold but the passenger side is blowing warm ambient temperature air. I tried turning off dual and turning back on, manual setting both zones to same temperature, but the passenger side won't blow cold air. Sometimes after driving for a few minutes, the passenger side starts blowing cooler air but not as cold as the driver side. What could cause this problem?

Ok, so I've got a little of an odd issue. It seems that no matter what I do, the AC is always active. Today I reverse flushed the heater core in my 02 Escape, and verified all hoses were clear. I replaced the thermostat housing (other thread) along with a new thermostat.
But, when I run the car, even with the heat full up and the selector set to the defroster and floor, the ac still blows ICE cold. It seems like it is still engaged no matter what. Winter is coming and I dont want my daughter to freeze (her truck).

I have a 00 Ford Excursion and only heat blows out of the front vents, the temp control doesn't work at all! The back has it's own controls and will come out cold (not a/c just the outside air) when the front is on (blasting heat). What this could be?

Having difficulties with an air conditioner. 2006 KR F150. The air blows, but not cold. I just had everything checked in regards to pressures, freon, etc., but still only blows ambient temperatures.
