Well I can and I wonder if this is normal as I can push my treg when it is off and in park [parking brake off of course] about 6 inches. It will rock back and forth, is this normal ?? I ask as I also have clunking in my drive train that the stealership says is normal. And I have 70k miles but this has been going on since 30k miles.
View 7 RepliesLast night I jumped into my Treg to move it into my garage. When I pushed the brake pedal to move the gear selector out of park, I heard a whooshing sound. Like the sound of a bellows-type foot pump I use to inflate my dinghy. I could also feel a slight amount of movement in the transmission lock button on the top left side of the shifter when doing this.
Now I'm noticing this noise whenever I apply the brakes. It doesn't appear to affect braking performance, but does have me wondering. I'll have the dealer check this out when I take the Treg in for the recent recall (got my notice yesterday).
I have spilt some coke into my shifter and it dried. Now when I shift to Drive or back to Park it makes this crackling sound and sometimes gets stuck. How to take the P-R-N-D-S cover off so I can clean?

When slowing down for stop, when almost stopped, sometimes the brake pedal pushes back momentarily, makes a bit of a (errrr) noise, and for two or three seconds during the push back the brakes do not work. Mechanic has cleaned ABS wheel sensors. All brake pads are good. The truck computer shows all systems okay. All brake lines are new or one year old.
View 2 RepliesI drove my 2005 Prius 2 hours and parked it for 5 hours. No problems on the trip down. I got back in it and it started up just fine. I was sitting in the parking lot with my foot on the brake (hadn't moved yet) and the following occurred:
The brake pedal seemed to push back on my foot
The red exclamation point illuminated
The yellow exclamation point illuminated
The ABS light illuminated
The VSC light illuminated
The red parking brake light illuminated (not shown)
All of these lights point to the skid ECU. It seems like my skid ECU is toast or something called the ABS & BA & TRAC & VSC Actuator is an issue (never heard of it but I see it connected to the skid ECU). I did a visual check of what I could and everything seemed in order. I pulled a bunch of fuses and I didn't notice any that were blown. (I didn't pull them all but will tomorrow)
After not finding anything, I drove back home. As expected, I had no regen but the bigger problem was that I had no power assist on the brakes. A few times I actually did skid and the car brakes really bad without regen or power assist. If it was raining or snowing I could definitely see a hazardous situation.
I'm kind of at a loss here. Tomorrow I'll pull the kick panel down and see if the skid ECU is getting power but I can't think of anything else that would cause this situation.
I collapsed the rear seats this morning, loaded the Treg up with stuff (nothing too heavy) and drove 200 miles. Got home, unloaded stuff and then tried to put the seats back up. The center seat belt is integrated into the passenger side 60% folding seat. But for some reason it's now "locked" as the belts do when the car is in an accident.
Since the belt is tight as it is in the lowered position, it will not allow me to lift up the back portion of the seat. After looking at it in the somewhat narrow view I have from between the floor and the lowered back rest, I can see that when I try to lift the back rest, the belt needs to slack some to allow the seat back to go all the way up. But since it catches, it only allow the seat back to raise about 6" before it's too tight to raise the seat back anymore.
I looked at the mounting bolts for the bottom portion of the belt in the space I can see and I see a 12 point star pattern bolt (not sure of proper name). With my Passat, I was able to find a suitable allen wrench that fits in the 12 point star pattern bolt that controls the back door catch for adjustment purposes. But with this one, I tried both metric and SAE and neither has a close enough match.
The belt locking mechanism allows for about 1" of belt travel before it locks. I've jiggled with the belt trying to get the mechanism to unlock so I don't have to remove the belt anchor point on the floor of the car (which I don't have the right wrench for). Anything I can do with the belt? Or do I just go after getting the right wrench and undoing the anchor to allow more belt slack to reset the belt?
When I try to start my 96 Park Avenue sometimes it will not start until I back off the key just a little bit. I have replaced both ignition switches,starter and starter relay. along with new ignition key with the correct pellet resistance. The problem still persists. I really can not use a volt meter to check for voltage at starter terminals since the issue is very intermittent. I have checked and cleaned the battery terminals and the battery is ok, only one year old. I have head lights that do not dim when problem occurs. The only thing left I believe is the related wiring.
View 1 RepliesI seem to be having 2 possible issues with it. One is that I put 4 qts of oil in the last oil change 3k miles ago and I took it in because the oil light came on and they said they had to put about 3 qts in....they checked and found no leaks and claim it goes out the tailpipe.
Also when starting the car for the first time and going into drive it wont go but a few miles an hour, go back into park, or shutting off and re starting usually fixes issues, I took it in and they said its either the valve body and if that doesn't work I need a new tranny.
I've had this ongoing issue where unless I first shift car from park to neutral and back again, the push button start will not work. After I do this car starts up fine every time.

View 5 RepliesEarly senility or perhaps just a busy mind has led me to turn off the ignition key before shifting from drive back to park. This is obviously not natural for the car but it did not seem to do any harm. I am wondering however if it can be damaged by this?

View 3 RepliesOK, each day my new T-Reg has a surprise. Today it was that the Park Assist showed just the red lights when in reverse. I know from the manual that this indicates a fault with the system.
I'm taking the car back to the dealer to have it diagnosed.... what should I expect? Is it as easy as hook up a computer and it says that sensor X is faulty??
Actually, the park assist seems to work when in 'D' so I assume that it's something on the back set that is faulty. The car is clean and only four days old from the dealer. I've checked the sensor exteriors and can't see anything covering them. Anything else I should check?
My TREG beeps every time we unbuckle the seatbelt in park. Is there anyway to change this? Sometimes you have to sit with the AC on because it is really, really hot. Or you undo your belt to reach back to the kids. Actually, it seems like it beeps every time I do anything. Open the door, lift wait off of the front passenger seat, etc... Any hack to the computer system that can fix this?
View 2 RepliesSince we have had vehicle, it has had fault whereby whenever we turn engine off, the key will not come out of lock and display says "engage Park" even though we already have.... Only solution is to turn ignition back on and then off again, and then key comes out. Dealer has had one go at it, but no success, due to go for another try next week.
