I searched using all possible keywords, but to no avail. My back hatch got stuck about 3 weeks ago. I could not open it, but it showed as being open on the MFI. I took it to the dealer, and it was fixed. They said they replaced the locking mechanism. Well, it got stuck again this weekend and am taking it back to the dealer. Why did it get stuck again, even though they replaced the mechanism?

View 14 RepliesThe hatchback on my 2005 prius wont open from the outside. It will open from the inside. It will unlock all of the doors when I lift up on the handle. I've tried looking for the actuator. Where it is located? I have the panel off of the inside of the hatchback. Wires look OK.
View 14 RepliesSo yesterday I tried to tackle this project. I soaked the latched in penetrating oil got it all loosened up were I could actually lock it with the key. So tried it with the key fob and no lock or unlock. So I pulled the actuator out and did the "tin foil" trick. Still wouldn't work. Didn't push the lock far enough to Lock the glass. However, it did move the latch. So I went down and purchased a NEW one from auto parts store stuck it in and whip-bang-boom it don't work either. As it don't push the lock far enough to lock the glass.

My 2002 Santa Fe Back Hatch Door will not open. I have removed the inside panel & all the linkage seems to work OK. But the main latch will not let go & I cannot see where to trip it. How I can get it opened, just can't see where to trip it but believe it can be done from inside.

The second issue is that my ignition key (the only one I got with car) does not turn the lock on the hatch.
Tried to open the rear hatch with the key. No lights flashing. No beep.... Dead.
Tried to open it with the switch under the steering wheel. No lights flashing. No beep.... Dead.
I have an appointment at Lexus but this sounds like warranty stuff to me -- sudden death of rear hatch? Lexus informed me there is no manual way to open the trunk. Can I somehow manually open the trunk?
My wife tried to close the hatchback door on our 2010 Prius I, something was in the way, she forced it and now I can't get the door to unlock. I tried the manual door release which is small metal lever on the lock assembly (as covered in the user manual); however, the lock won't release the striker. I've unbolted the lock assembly to see if the striker was jammed in the lock mechanism. I can now rock the lock assembly back and forth and I don't see any foreign objects in the locking mechanism, but still cannot open the lock. How to manually open the lock mechanism (is there somewhere I can apply pressure to force the mechanism to open and release the striker)? Again, the metal lever discussed in the user guide does not work.

View 1 RepliesI'm seriously getting fed up with this car. From the day we took delivery of it in July 2006 it had the dreaded b-pillar rattle that took OVER a year for the dealer to diagnose and fix. The final repair took over a week and we were graced with a horribly crappy rental car. The passenger rear door felt like it belonged on a 35-year old ford F-150 and it required a day at the dealer and lube and adjustments.
Then We've had random CELs and rattles and recently had to go in for a new A/C Compressor. That took 2 days of us without the car. That was AFTER it was in a week previous for a CEL that required a part inside the intake runner. That took ANOTHER 2 days to diagnose/repair. Now the rear hatch doesn't close? I've never needed this many repairs on a car that doesn't even have 35K miles on it.
Just tonight my wife said the parking brake didn't engage and a warning light for THAT just came on. Previously I had planned to trade in the GTI for a better family car, but its turning out that maybe the car we need to replace is in fact this one... Its saving grace are a fantastic engine and utility that is second to none. If only it worked!
WHen i open the back hatch, the light does not come on when the switch is on door but if i flip it to on it works fine...

When I push the sun visor, only the clip stay on the ceiling, the sun visor will fall down. It drives me crazy whole day How the white plastic part (electric connect to sun visor) suppose to be attach to the ceiling.
This is the second year I've owned my 2007 Prius, and it seems to be getting worse.
In the summer, the hatch will open with ease! The handle recognizes my hand there and unlocks the hatch and whammo bammo we're in business. In the winter, especially the really really cold weather like we're having now (down to about 10 over night) the hatch refuses to open.
I have a 2003 Excursion. I shut the back hatch the other day and the window completely shattered. I bought another one from the junk yard.
My husband replaced it and everything seems to fit right and it closes down and it looks nice. Problem is now the interior lights wont shut off at all.
Running board lights are on as well. We have had to un-hook the battery to keep it from running down. Is there a sensor or something that needs to be reset?
I have a 94 ford explorer and the back hatch leaks every time it pours rain. I noticed on the drivers side that there is a gap on the side of the hatch. Is there a way to adjust the hatch? The other side is fine.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 ford explorer and the back hatch window exploded on my son when he closed it. Glass shattered everywhere even on him. I was told there was a recall on this and ford has stated they were replaced but previous owner says they didn't have replaced. How do I know the difference in the recall hinges and new ones? If the hinges were replaced why would the window shatter like this?
