Touareg :: Air Vents On B-pillars
Sep 16, 2005
On the B-pillars (at least I think they are the B-pillars) there are air vents right about the height of the rear door window. I have never felt any air come out of them no matter what settings I choose I Heat/AC controls. 2004 V8 .....

My 2012 2 door gti's B pillars are very loose. for example, if i reach for the seatbelt and hit them they move alot but they dont come off. On my sisters jetta and my mom's GLI they are very stiff. Are they supposed to be like that?

I have a 2 month old 2011 Camry LE. Really disappointed by the quality of interiors. A rattling sound comes on and off from both the B-pillars as if something is lying loose in pillar. Have tried pulling both seat belts to the max multiple times, adjusting seat belt heights but all in vain.

So I'm swapping in a Black headliner for a friend and I've had no trouble with mine in the past, but his car has the A and B pillar airbags. I have the Positive Cable disconnected from the battery, how should I go about it.

Noticed the shiny black door pillars forming hairline cracks? My 2012 is now over 3 years old and has 34k miles and is not garage kept. The pillars are starting to show cracks pretty bad in what looks like the clear coat. The drivers side is much worse, but I think that is due to that side getting more sun during the day while I'm at work. With that being said, I still don't think these should be cracking this soon.

Last weekend I had to pull up the front passenger carpet to check my DVD player wiring, and I was shocked to find a puddle of water in the foot well, and the carpet pads were soaking wet. The water looked clean, and quite recent luckily.
On further investigation, I found water in the front driver's side foot well and in the rear passenger side foot area.
So I took the heroic step of removing all the seats and pulling out the carpet to thoroughly dry out the car, and replaced the carpet pads which were too soaking wet. Took almost two days of work, didn't want to spend the big bucks on a new carpet with the pads attached ($1400). Not hard work, just tedious, and the seats are heavy to lift out.
Now the mystery part, where did the water come from ? No water on top of the carpets, not a drop to be seen anywhere. But loads of water below the pads.
1. Checked the sunroof drains, all four drain well, and the sunroof drain holes are totally clear. Did a test with a garden hose but no water gets into the car.
2. All the body drain holes have the rubber plugs. Car is in pristine condition. The car is a 2009 RX350 with very low usage.
2. Checked AC drain hose- condensate water is draining to the ground. Ran AC for an hour, not a drop felt anywhere below the evaporator.
3. Now that I have dried out the car and put the carpet in, I am mystified as to the source of this water, and am afraid it is going to recur unless I can find the cause.
Considering that the water was most present in the front passenger side, and below the carpet, I suspect it must have come in from the A or B pillars. Is it possible for the water to have taken this path if the sunroof was not totally sealed shut for some reason on a long trip in the rain ?

My friends and family think I'm crazy, since three weeks ago, we went out and bought an '11 CC Sport for my wife . . . but I digress.
I've got a 2004 V6 Touareg. Frankly, it's been doing very well for the last 30K miles (I'm at 93K right now) -- knock on wood. However, just today, I noticed and confirmed that there is NO air coming from the lower vents. I've got a two zone system and when I change the settings to force air to come just out of those vents nothing. You can feel air coming from both the windshield vent and dash vents -- and what I think is that I have a damper that's not moving anymore.
The whole reason I even tried to do this, is over the last couple of months, I've noticed two things coming from the dash -- one, a cricket sound (kinda like a bearing squeaking), and two, a light clicking sound that can best be described as a damper seeking a setting. It occurred to me a damper isn't working right.

While driving with a friend today he noticed no air coming out of the rear vents(the ones between the front and back door windows). We played around with all the controls and read the manual but nothing. Air was coming out the rear middle console.
Are these vents part of the four-zone option which I don't have or am I missing something

Problem since new but now I am in cold climate. Seems like there is minimal air flow from vents even if I will set fan to max.. . Dealer does not believe. On the parking flow is present but during driving 70-80 just minimal. I hear the rumble of the fan but air does not come out. Temp setting may be set to 85 but temp inside the car is not above high 60's. I can only survive using heated seats.

Snap, crackle and pop sound coming from the vents in the front and rear when the heat is on. It sounds like rice krispies with milk.

Every time I turn on the a/c I get a horrible smell coming through the vents like old sneakers or a gym bag that has not been cleaned out in some time. I thought it was just because I hadn't run the a/c all winter, but it has been doing it every time I turn the a/c on or off. Have any of you run into this?

My CPO '11 Lux has a strong odor coming from the air vents. First thought it might be some kind of air freshening canister that was injecting the fragrance, but now wondering if I have an antifreeze leak???

Whistling sound from the pillar vents behind the driver and passenger sides? I get the whistling sounds from the passenger side when the fan is on a certain speed.

I get a musty odor from my vents from time to time. It usually happens on days when it is damp out and often on startup but sometimes it happens later in the trip. Its quite strong, unpleasant, and terrible for allergies.
I read something about this a long time ago but cannot find the posts. Found a TSB summary on VW's site but Dealer pulled it and says its for Passat. Thinking its something in the A/C or ventilation system.

I recently found out that my check valve needs replacing for my a/c vacuum. The problem came from when I turn my AC on, the panel vents do not work. Instead, the Defrost vents push the AC air out. How to replace the vacuum check valve? I would like to avoid the high cost of dealership prices.

Would having the cup holder replaced on an 08 Wagon with the non climatronic ac system require the disconnection of the right hand side selector that controls where the air comes out.
Just noticed today that no matter what position it's in the air only comes out on the windscreen vents and the two side vents on either end of the dash.

So today the temperature dropped to around 25 degrees, and as such on my drive home the windows started fogging up. I decided to turn on the air and set it to windshield, after about 20 minutes the windshield is still not defogging, and I can only see a small spherical portion of the bottom part of the window as clear, while almost 80% of the window is still fogged up. I stopped at a red light and put my hand near where the air should be coming from and nothing is coming out. I noticed that no matter what option I select, no air is coming out of the windshield vents. I was able to get under the drivers side and take note of the motor, I had my sister move around from feet, to bi-level, to windshield, and in all cases I can see things moving, however no air is still moving from the vents near the windshield.

2007 Camry I4. It's cold up here in Toronto the past few weeks and I noticed a problem with my ventilation/heater. When i'm driving hot air comes out of my vents, but once I'm stopped at a traffic light the air will come out as cold until I start driving again.
I already replaced my water pump earlier this year, and most of the postings show that this may be a faulty water pump causing the issue. Just before going back to my mechanic, was wondering if there could be something else wonky.
Not sure if this is related, but when I start my car, I can hurt some liquid sound by the left foot wall side, and sometimes when I'm accelerating I too would hear some liquid flowing sound.

I have a '06 2.0T Auto, and the first cold day since I purchased the car was a week ago (I live in North FL) and turned on the heat, to find out that little to no heat was getting let out, so I brought it to my local guy, and said that the thermostat was probably stuck open, so he replaced the thermostat and housing for a couple hoses , and tested out the heat just now (55 degrees out), have it on 80 degrees and full blast, and still nothing. Also, usually I hear the cooling fan kick on after I shut off the car for about 5-10 secs, but haven't heard it since its not 90+ out. Its in the 70s.

Having problem of not getting any heat from the vents of the car? The fan works and more than likely it isn't the Thermostat. The engine also heats up normally, it's just that the air the blows out of the vents does not get hot anymore and it's getting to be fall.
