I removed the long plastic cover under the right side of the car to expose the air pump. Switched the car on and looked for any obvious signs where the noise came from. Mine showed a missing nut and some play in the bushes. Some strategically placed cable ties, foam and a new nut and the air pump is silent again. Now who said these cars need deep pockets to maintain?
View 1 RepliesAny 'rattle' from their front suspension when going over high-frequency, low speed bumps (manhole covers, potholes etc)?Sounds like a loose strut mount or shock. It's not a creaking sound - a definite rattle - so I don't think it's the engine mount issue that I've read about elsewhere. Car is brand new and is going in for a 60 day courtesy check in a couple of weeks.

As soon as I drove I could hear the squeak coming from the spring. I doubt that I went over the load limit. Any car should hold up 5 people with some weight in the trunk... right?
View 10 RepliesI recently did all new suspension on my caprice...new springs all around...new shocks all around....all new ball joints and all the tie rods brand new too and new sway bar... after installing everything i took the car to the shop and they did alignment and said they checked everything out and said i was good to go. The reason i did all new suspension in the first place was because a noise i was getting which i believed to be a bad ball joint so i just went ahead and did everything since i had to pull the control arms and what not. after everything is said and done the car is still making the same noise....its like a clicking noise which only happens when i apply the brake and the car lurches forward it sounds like a popping like something isn't tight and the car is moving forward on the frame or something....it doesn't happen in reverse and happens at all speeds sometimes one click sometimes 3 consecutive...

View 5 RepliesMy car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?

I dropped off my car on September 21st and they have yet to complete my car... I've called them every single day since but, I don't get a good explanation from the dealer...
I have 2012 sentra with CVT transmission & 60,000 miles. I just got 60,000 miles service done. Service adviser called me to let me know that I need to have replaced upper strut bearing on the front (left & right) replaced because they are making clunking noise when turn wheels or parking. When I asked for the reason why they should go bed he told me that it's normal, some sand other debris could clog there or water could have damaged it.
View 4 RepliesWas driving normal and my 2004 r32 died. It felt just like it ran out of gas. Fuel pump was not making any noise. I replaced fuel pump relay and now i can here the fuel pump making noise. Pulled the fuel pump line off and fuel is coming out the line. So now i checked for spark and have none. I have 12 volts at the coils. I ohmed out the crank sensor and have .777 k ohms. I also checked codes with generic snap-on scanner and found no codes.
View 2 RepliesMy car is a 2002 Accent. So last weekend I replaced my timing belt and my 3 other belts. Before I did this the belts were not squeaking and I was not having any issues with my power steering. I started my car up and the power steering pump was making lots of noise, the power steering reservoir was still full. I was told it's probably the power steering pump and that I would need a new one. So I got a new one, put it on and still the same thing. I looked online and saw that it may be an air bubble in the line so I removed the cap on the reservoir and, with the car turned off and the front wheels off the ground, cranked the wheels lock to lock about 20 times. I started the car and it still makes noise. This morning the power steering felt like it was lagging as I was backing out of my driveway and the squeaking happens when I am idling and gets louder and worse up to about 2000 rpm then stops, which it has been doing since I replaced the belts. I am not sure what else to do, did I mess up the new pump by driving and not bleeding the air out?
View 2 RepliesI finally have a first 'major' problem with my Camry 2004 V6 XLE right at 75K ish.
The last two days I've been hearing my power steering pumping making that familiar 'whirrrrr' noise. I thought it was just the pump going out because it has always made some noise when it was cold. Lo and behold, I checked my fluid today and found it was completely dry. I knew it wasn't a good thing because when fluids are dry, they must go someplace. Either way, I got a gal of Dextron ATF in the trunk now.
I filled it up and all was good, so I started to look around for obvious leaks. I did find a hose going to a metal line that DID seem to be dripping, but I wanted to see if maybe others had the same problem and found it was to be a different thing leaking/running down or if this is a common issue.
Not sure if the hose is a dealer only thing. It does look like it's leaking from the end. I could get one of those screw tightening clamps to see if the clamps isn't putting enough 'squeeze' on it. I couldn't see a tear on the hole, but I'm assuming it's a high pressure hole, so it won't leak unless I'm doing a lock to lock turn.
I have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
View 18 RepliesI have a lexus rx 330. Pump started making noise and low on fluid. We replaced all the belts and new pump. After installing new pump it was leaking from fill cup cap when driving also making a lot of noise on cold start. Mechanic said new pump was bad so we put in another one. Car ran fine as soon as we put it in and bleed good. Following morning again a lot of noise on cold start and noise goes away about 10 minutes but again small amount of fluid leaking from cap on fill cup. I replaced the rubber ring on cap to get a tight seal but again nothing.
View 6 RepliesI'm getting a noise that sounds like "woooooooooo" from the right front of the engine compartment when the outside temp gets below about 20F and I just start the car. The colder it gets, the longer the noise lasts.
I suspect it's the pump that's part of the CHS. Just a very wild guess. The noise goes away when the car starts to warm up. No drive ability problems.
I recently bought a 2001 x w 145,000 miles. The transmission was making a whining noise when i bought it but it still shifted smooth and ran great. The truck has been serviced by the local Ford dealer its entire life with dozens of routine maintenance performed. With 145,000 miles should I wait for the converter to go out and just install a new transmission. It only gets drove on the weekends to go to the lake.

View 10 RepliesSo I have a 2012 Elantra Limited. From what I understand the power steering is no hydraulics and is only electric assist. So I have a strange problem. I can remember in previous cars when a power steering pump was going bad it made a whining type noise that changed with engine speed. My Elantra is making the same type of noise. I'm trying to track this down. My car doesn't have any other symptoms aside from the noise. It's hard to really tell but it does appear to be coming from the belt side of the motor (passenger side).
View 14 RepliesWell, I last summer my fuel filter/ pump started squealing, and making vibrating noise, replaced the fuel filter changed the noise slightly, some times it would go away, sometimes the line going to the filter under the hood would vibrate, couple weeks ago truck warning light came on- "low fuel pressure warning" came on, hum... went out, came on a couple days later, then finally put me into limp mode, luckly only 1/2 mile from home... checked filter on frame/ tightness, it was tight, the pump on the filter housing was very noisey still, well, I figured 200 dollars cheaper than taking to ford....
I waited and pump arrived 3 days later, replaced it and low pressure warning still on, but pump was very quiet, and when I restarted low pressure warning and reduced power came on in driveway, hum.... I thought code was still in computer, I disconnected battery and turned headlights on to try and kill the code, started it and now the engine light came on, nothing else, and truck ran fine....hum.... went to autozone, and they pulled the code, low fuel rail pressure, p0087, guy said to drive and code should go off, truck runs fine. Drove truck a couple days and engine light went off, Truck runs great.......All is good.
