Alarm keeps going off and is unable to start the car? I've tryed everything I can think of. If I hit lock on my remote the alarm goes off, when i hit unlock it stops, I has gone off by itself numerous times.
View 1 RepliesMy key got stuck in the ignition and I was unable to start it. The owners' manual shows a small hole to the left of the key slot which is poked with a paper clip to release the key. At some point the ignition in my tdi was replaced and no small hole is present. A knowledgeable tow truck operator/mechanic coaxed the key from the ignition and the tdi started when the key was returned to the ignition and turned. What is the proper way to remove a stuck key from an ignition without the little hole. I was reluctant to force it out. The ignition currently in my '04 tdi has a raised bar to the left of the key slot which I was unable to depress.

During a severe thunder storm the factory alarm went off. I was unable to shut off the alarm with the key fob. The power door locks did not work either with the door switch or the key fob. I disconnected the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes.
After I reconnected the battery the door locks worked using the key fob or door switch. I took it for a drive with no further problems. About 10 minutes later the alarm went off again. I could hear the door lock solenoids attempting to lock/unlock the doors and there was a clicking under the dash. I disconnected the battery again, after the battery was reconnected the power door locks were still not working. The truck starts up and runs normal, everything seems to work except for the door lock?
I checked the PW fuse, it was fine. The battery is fully charged at 12.6V. I've disconnected the battery and will have another look at it tomorrow. There was nothing useful in the Owner's Manual and the resync procedure did not work.
Update: Before driving to work this morning, I cleaned the positive and negative terminals. The locks worked and the truck ran normally during the 30 min drive to work. After reading the Owner's manual closely, I discovered the Theft Deterrent System can be disarmed by locking the car with the doors closed. The system is armed by locking the doors with a door open, i.e. pressing the lock switch when exiting the vehicle.
No further problems with the alarm or the door locks whether the Theft Deterrent System is armed or disarmed. Hopefully leaving the battery disconnected overnight was the fix.
My alarm started going off by itself and my truck would not start so we unhooked the horn but the alarm was still trying to go off making a ticking noise when the horn should have been honking. so we also unhooked the alarm. And it started right up. I've been driving it with those things off with no problem. But today it wouldn't start again and its making a ticking noise like the horn is trying to honk.

Engine running, no message on screen!!! The acceleration was not working.
I cannot get the key to lower or raise the windows, or close the sun roof. The manual says I can do both. I can do it in my Passat. Is this a Vag-Com thing my dealer can fix?

View 3 RepliesOn my display, I get a "Key Battery is Empty" alarm with a little key symbol that stays there as long as I am driving. I have replaced the battery...still the alarm. I have tried the other FOB...still the alarm. The thing is, the FOB works (I have the keyless start) so it seems to be a software issue but how do I reset it without venturing down to the dealer?

I always use my key to interact with the automobile, but used my wife's fob today and had two alarms while shutting the engine down. Both fobs are "keyed" to the truck and have never been reprogrammed. Weird and humiliating to a degree. Our guests must have thought I was stroking myself. What's the deal?
View 6 Replies2008 VR6 Touareg with 71,000 miles. When he starts it cold the idle jumps around and is very rough. After 30 seconds or so it calms down, but you can tell it's still just not right. It also makes this puffing sound especially around the exhaust. At least puffing is how I'd describe it, maybe I can take a video of it at some point. No visible issues anywhere in the engine bay or anything that looks out of place. I ran an auto scan with VAG-COM and I pulled absolutely no faults. I found that puzzling.

View 3 RepliesWife was driving 2008 w/70k miles, powered off completely in middle of street, coasted into parking lot. No warnings or lights on dash. Unable to shift to park. Won't power on to acc mode even. Interior lights etc work fine. Battery measures 13.6, 14.2 at front terminals? Slight burning smell from engine compartment possibly right side. Disconnected battery for hard reboot, no change. Unable to read codes as won't power on.

View 13 RepliesA friend of mine has an '04 Touareg and the tire pressure alarm keeps coming on. He has checked the pressure and it is fine. Took it into the shop and it wasn't giving any codes. It seems that it keeps setting off the alarm intermittently.
View 10 RepliesEver since the dealer did some work on my TReg that involved removing the back bumper, and some other side panels to fix a whistling noise (this is a known problem with a bead of glue being left in some wind channel during manufacturing), when I go over a bump the alarm goes off that the rear hatch is open.
I have to slam the rear window 4 or 5 times to get the indicator to go back off. Dealer says I have to bring it in to have it looked at and they give me a rental. I want them to be able to order the fricken part, let me know when it is in, and THEN drop it off to get fixed. Just the sensor being loose possibly?
When it goes off, the picture of the vehicle comes on in the MFI which is annoying, because I can't change to anything else. And when I stop I have to make sure it is off or interior lights stay on.
My Navigation started to display a message "Unable to Read Data" and would not display the Map on my Certified 2008 LS460. All other displays worked just fine and there were no other problems with my Navi. This had been an intermittent problem for a while so I decided to bring it to Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly, Virginia. I paid them $130 to diagnose the problem for them to tell me that I need a new Navigation ECU - which at first they quote $15,000.00 I FLIPPED! I let them know that I would deal with not having a map and navigation and got my car back!
When they gave me my car I started it up to see the wrong time displaying on the clock and a message that reads "A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer" displaying on my screen. I immediately got my SA out there to look at the message. He tried to tinker with all the buttons and couldn't get the message to disappear so he brought his supervisor to look at the message.
They explained to me that when diagnosing the problem they tried to reset the system by removing by battery and it didn't work (Yeah, Actually it made things worse!!!) and now it is evident that my ECU has apparently completely died (and I find it such a coincidence that it happen to die while in their hands diagnosing the issue). They took the car back to see if they could do anything to get it back to the state it was in when I brought for diagnosis.
This a second time I am unable to turn the ignition key to start up the car. Eventually I was able to do so by exiting and entering the car, but I did not realize what is causing this type of event. Is this a feature of this car so that it is hard to be stolen? Is there anything in the owner's manual explaining what I did or didn't do to cause this problem? I spent about 15 minutes until I was finally able to start the car (using the key), but I want to avoid this issue again.
View 14 RepliesYesturday at about 3 pm i start to install my newly received kit from spock and all seems well slow but well, i get the wiring in place with no problem but i couldn't get the long purple piece to go in to the small black piece when it came time to reassemble, at this point it starts to rain outside and became dark so i figured i would just finish it in the morning. I try and lock the car and duh it can't happen i have all of that disconnected, so i manually lock the car. This morning i gt up first thing and manually unlock the door and open it only to find the alarm starts to go off. I put my key in the ignition as a normal response to shut the alarm off but the key gets locked into the ignition and now i am left sitting here at 7:30 in the morning with a car alarm that is going off and can't be stopped. I get out and close the door and manually lock the car and that stopped the alarm. Now the problem ... Every time i open the door the alarm goes off i close it, it shuts off.
