Touareg :: 2008 - Changing The PSI Setting Of TPMS?
May 12, 2008
I have an 08 Treg 2 V6. I have had little success at lowering the pressure setting at which the alarm sounds on my TPMS. The owners manual does not mention how to do this. The reason I want to do this is because my tires are rated at a max of 44 psi and my alarm setting is 43.5 psi which sounds every time the outside temp changes the pressure.

Okay, so after 42k miles, I had to bite the bullet 4 months before my lease is up and put yet another set of tires on my T2. Done today at reputable shop, and the TPMS is not yet registering the monitors on all four wheels. Driven about 8 miles since and they are still not registering. The indicator light is flashing for 60 seconds to indicate no signal. Should this rectify itself with some driving, as other systems on the Treg do, or is it something else. They were working immediately prior to them mounting the new tires.

I'm in the process of changing oil seals on my dually front end. Do I need to worry about backlash settings? I see the gears are attached with solid brackets, which I assume, as just torque to spec and not worry about backlash. What is the torque spec for the four bolts holding the gears/yoke in place?

Was adjusting some of my settings today. My "Comfort" setting disappeared from the menu. This has happened before. how to get it back? I need to set my door unlock to unlock all including the tailgate.

Looks like I erased the Comfort setting in the MFI, I was changing stations at a light and noticed those menus, played with them for a bit and I hit it at factory reset. Since then I have not been able to get the Comfort menu to come up. Is there anything I can do to get it back or will I need to go to the dealer to get it reset?

The instrument cluster settings has not been working and they would not set when i would try to do this.It would go back to the same setting as before. They checked it on the computer and everything would register like it was ok but the computer could not detect the fault.Come to find out it needs a new instrument cluster and that was the fix for it after they took three more Tregs apart to make sure it would either work or not work at all. They all worked except for mine.It is being replaced and shipped overnight.

I recently purchased a used 2004 VW Touareg. The previous owner must've had long fingernails, as the driver-side fan button was extremely worn. At any rate, I was able to get a new button included in the "we owe" from the car dealer.
After the local VW dealership fixed the button, the LED screen that displays the temperature setting blinks when I start up the vehicle (like 15-20 times). It's very annoying to say the least.

No luck using the search option. Can I reset (get the faulty wheel onboard light to turn off ) the system myself through the learn sequence? Haven't been able to achieve that result yet.

Have one of at least four different software codes, depending on your version of the TPMS controller. For the old controller (which I used to have, and which is present in, for example, air cooled rig), the coding is 0012339. (There is also 0010339.) The new coding below is only if you have coding 0210390 and possibly if you have coding 0211390. The old coding does not work with my controller, and I do not know if the new coding works with the old controller.
Use VAG-COM:
1. to put the option to turn TPMS on/off into the MFI.
2. to get "inflation info" back into the MFI.
Change the software coding to:
0110390

I have a 2004 V8 with 104,000 miles. For the last two weeks every time I go out in the morning a few miles from home the tire pressure monitor tells me I have a flat tyre. This warning light goes off when I continue to drive. This does not happen every day but I have noted this happen when it rainy or is particularly humid.

Recently replaced the front tire pressure monitor sensors from my '04 T V8. Since then the readings are fine with the only exception that I do get the "FLAT TYRE" warning a few minutes after I start my trip and for about 2-3 minutes until it goes off again. Shall I take it back to the dealer for reprogramming, is it something else I should look for...

Mt '05 TPMS is telling me tonight "Defective Wheel Onboard". After driving ~15 mins, I get a big red "!" telling me "Flat Wheel". The system is telling me it's the driver's front wheel but all 4 wheels look normal + I don't notice any alignment or balance problems.

Brought the t-reg into Carter VW in Seattle today for oil change (50k), a TPMS fault and blown rear tweeter. Mixed results:
- 50k service, sticker indicates it was performed - car not washed
- TPMS System Fault "tech reports no faults stored", added air. I got in car, greeted by same error, service rep checks 'tyre' pressure again finds all in spec, almost tells me I don't have an issue with the MFI all lit up. "Don't know what to tell you, someone will call you to reschedule."
- Tweeter "tech reports no faults stored"
OK so TPMS is useless - I expect problems there. But to tell me that a tweeter that sounds like crap at medium volume didn't throw codes so its not a problem? Seriously? This is the second time we've had to have this driver's rear door tweeter replaced - if VW is investing in 'smart tweeters' that throw codes, perhaps they could redirect those funds to tweeters that hold together for two years of less than abusive listening.
How a tweeter can throw a code and explains it to me, I'll be a happy man and continue to have faith in a dealer that has usually treated me very well.

Our late '04 touarg has been experiencing an intermittent tpms failure. Seems to occur only during sub-20 degree farenhiet whether and only when the 'egg is cold (i.e. parked outdoors or in an unheated garage) and generally occurrs shortly after starting/driving the car. Message we receive states that the system has failed (not flat tire/defective wheel/etc). The fault will then clear itself after around 10 minutes. Any solutions?
